I was born in 82 so was still bale to catch much of the great 80s music as a kid. Loved poison, motley crue, and all the other 80s hair bands.

This little piece of prose is dedicated to every Hair band and every Metal artist I love and still blast at full volume while in traffic, and to anyone who cares to read an example of how a nearly 58-year-old woman's nostalgic reminiscing can spin into something unexpected, and without warning. Happy 2024 to us all- I hope we can survive it- whatever is thrown at us, and no matter by whom. You are invited to continue reading if you're brave enough, otherwise I suggest you make your escape while you can:
"I've always held the belief that nearly all of my beloved Metal and Hair bands from my Jr. and Sr. High days were highly under-rated by most people- I could see that even some of the girls (and some guys, too) who claimed to be their biggest fans didn't truly appreciate the very real talents, the creative abilities, nor the tireless work that is necessary in the pursuit of reaching the highest levels of true musicianship- not even when their idols and crushes were at the top of their games, if not the top of the charts. Poison, as a group, was the first group from that era of my life which I identified as a seriously good band that was probably doomed to never be taken seriously, even when they should have been. To this day, these guys hold a very special place in my still-20-year-old heart.
I still love the couple of dozen men who, back in the day, were "even prettier than I could ever hope to be". We've all aged, we've all changed - some of us changed a great deal since then while others are practically unrecognizable- but those exquisitely underrated, exceedingly beautiful, and jarringly talented young men are still as vivid in my memory as they were on stage, video, and my imagination.
I love you all, you Rock Stars of my youth- my best years, perhaps- from about 1979-1989, when I was between 14 and 19. Those were the years I didn't need to be told how lucky I was to be able to understand how much time, effort, joy, pain, heart and soul was invested in creating the music that convinced me to sing in public; that cajoled me until I agreed to dance alone in the middle of the dance floor; that encouraged me to cultivate my own unique personal style (and to fearlessly dress like I meant it); and for a little while, these were the years I only really listened to people who let me believe I was just as special, just as talented, just as desirable as they all were- and that every single one of the boys who were "even prettier than I could ever hope to be" would see that I was just as underrated by most people as they were. And I believed they would not forget me, just as I have not forgotten them.

On the DIO documentary they post this as a reason for the death of Metal Rock at the time… catchy but cringe worthy when u think of the other real Metal bands that paved the way for them… I can’t get through this one
