"Stewardess, I speak jive.." alone would get you 5years in Sing Sing today...a truly classic film start to finish...

“It’s worse than Detroit” is so fucking funny.

The part when they are driving out in the country and going around all those curves yet the steering wheel never moves. Not to mention the Indians chasing them.

Decades later after dozens of times watching this I laugh so much I miss jokes being they’re stacked and heaped on each other. I have my favorites scenes but am still amazed at how much I’ve missed while laughing to the point of tears. Tempo and stoicism make the one line or recurrent jokes timeless and a masterclass in writing, acting and directing it grows each viewing for me still in 2023!!!

The writers and producers of "Airplane" had a sketch comedy group in West Los Angeles in the 1970s. It was called "Kentucky Fried Theater." They would change their sketches monthly. From that, they make the money to make "Kentucky Fried Movie." From that came "Airplane."
