I built a similar shelter in a ravine in Ontario Canada when I was a teenager.
I was lucky enough to have access to a few bags of almost expired cement and a few hundred bricks. That made the fire place a lot nicer. As well as made my outer facing walls a little straiter.
I had a deep V like you had here but I didn't dig a sleeping cave. I like that idea!
Anyhow I did a V wall making a roughly square shelter with a fireplace in the back corner of the earth wall.
I went back and checked on it fifteen years after I had made it and it was still there!!
Roof was a bit punky and sagging. But that would have been an easy fix.
Walls were brick and stone with mud and some cement. Roof was logs, a tarp and moss.

I've been watching quite a few of these types of videos, and this is the first one of yours I've seen, and needless to say, it taught me a few more things. The main thing I never knew, is that charring wood before burying it makes it waterproof. I was recently wondering about wood deteriorating when covered in dirt.

This is just my opinion i see you pulled those pine needles back from you fire pit but sparks are a concern i think putting some metal screen over the top next time or about 4 inches from the top will stop sparks from starting an accidental fire like i said it’s just my opinion i don’t know your weather or climate first time watching and I’m just a extra cautious person but I’ve seen a lug nut break off a car and start a fire so i know how easy it is just an idea you know opinions are like buttholes everyone has one
