I’m going with 80/20 - 90/10 tires if I can find them for my 300L. Shinko 705’s sound good to me.

Paul From Australia , I love Karl Bradshaw and his tyre reviews. Unfortunately one fantastic tyre that’s well 59/50 Is the Goldentyre GT723/823 a fantastic tyre that just as good as the Motoz Rallz ( gives similar miles but just that little better in well everything. ) Karl would love to test them but cannot seem to get them - not sure 🤔 if that a US thing. Also running say a 80/20 front and 50/50 is also a good option, as on dirt you want more traction on the front ( to stop wash outs ) rear can slide around and that’s fine . Also both tyres will last longer .

ok, have a silly question but here it goes. I have a ktm 890R "Duke" and love riding into baja. i'm fitting a surf rack on it and looking at a good dual sport tire that does well in loose sand more than hard pack. Any comment's welcome.

Centerbeade or dog paw pads on rear unless the bike is full-time dirt then you can get Nabi on the rear

If you ride in dirt moderately get a Nabi front tire and dog paw pad rear or Center bead no point wasting rear tires wear out when they're Nabis

I am turning my 2013 iron 883 into a scrambler because where I live and work our roads are either sorta smooth or trash or gravel. I do not want to be tied down to just highway riding. I want to cruise those back roads as well. I don't plan to go mudding but I do want to ride gravel and hard dirt sometimes.

I laugh every time I see an overweight, middle-aged fart riding an 800 lb BMW 1250 GS with hard-core dirt knobby tires in rush-hour traffic. That never stops being funny.

im live on long dirt road... so i 80 /20 .. pavement side for speed on weak bike... and 20 so i can make it home on the dirt! at times the sand is almost too deep. but i find the smoothest side and im ok.. 125s honda..

Trailmax are not 50/50. Very good at on-road and dirt/gravel. They are SO bad once any sort of wet dirt starts in, not to mention the beginning of "mud", that they need to be called no more than 30% off road / 70% on road. They will literally throw you off the machine if you hit mud. A 50/50 tire can't do that. A lot of my respected influencers (BigRockMoto being one) push these as 50/50. Must be Dunlop wants that "50/50" sweet spot to sell more tires, but be warned. off road, you cannot hit mud..at all. I'm not talking about 10 inch deep mud. Any mud at all. I loved them outside mud, but due to this, I would not ever buy again unless I literally lived near a desert. You can't always rely on knowing there is 0% chance of encountering mud.

The knobby tire has bigger outside circumstances, so i will adjust accordingly so it won't damage the mud guard

The life of the dirt focussed tyre will only suffer if you end up using it on a hard abraisive road, if used as intended with the vast majority of miles off the road, its life will probably be just fine

Anakee Adventure is too off-road tire 50-50, only 20%(0ffroad)-80%(asphalt) is Anakee 3. If tyre is little bit knobby than that tyre not good on asphalt!

This was a great episode. Thank you for that.
I would consider also, for the longevity the region one is in. I may be wrong in the USA but please enlighten me. I am Swedish but now in North Carolina.
So, in Sweden and Scandinavia we have another mix of tires than if we would buy the same tire in Greece or Italy. Ours is softer to handle both our summers and winters. If you run our tires for a longer period in the summer in Greece it will wear out prematurely, and if you buy tires in Greece and take your car to Sweden and run on those in the winter they will be rock hard like hard plastic.
Is it the same in USA that tires from lets say Wisconsin or Minnesota market is softer than tires for the market in Georgia or Florida?

You can ride a knobby tire on the street without much drawback because there’s still plenty of grip on asphalt. But taking a street oriented tire off-road is a nightmare.
