The Baikal model 27 offers properly squared action parts, which are chrome plated against corrosion, rebounding hammers, intercepting safeties to prevent accidental discharge. Does the tested OU offer any of these features? I am guessing it does not. I

I bought a Hatsan air rifle. Large caliber: 6.35 mm. Powerful and accurate rifle. But the butt is generally inconvenient for shooting! I had to redo it. But the price is great and the sniper scope is great. Shoots powerfully and accurately.

I'm not a brilliant shot by any means on clays, but I have recently scored much better with my cheapy than other chaps who've turned up with their A list guns and the rest of the gear. If you can't shoot doesn't matter what you've got , if you can shoot you'll make whatever work for you. Not every one can afford the top notch guns so we put up with heavy barrels, heavy actions, heavy triggers, garden variety gun slips and yet we come home with rabbits and ducks.

I’m sure I own “worse” guns, but they all have a place and I appreciate them for something.

You’ll never buy the perfect gun for you first try, so kiss some frogs and work out what works for you, then you’ve got a chance of finding “the one” - it’s all part of the fun.

Is it me or does the guy working the release on the trap need to work on his reflex speed. Having worked as a scorekeeper on a trap field for many years all a can concentrate on are the slow pulls. I would have been demoted for pulls that late for sure.

Wouldn’t trade my Baikal. Once I cleaned it up by refinishing the wood and adding a fiber optic front bead it looks much nicer and points better. I also replaced the brick of a recoil pad with a softer sporting clays pad. It made all the difference.

Never even heard of this brand. That recoil pad may work well but it is ugly as sin. Maybe the addition material removed from the butt throws off the balance.

Must be an older version of this gun or something. I have one of these, and it doesn't have that recoil system on it, and it's really not all that barrel heavy. For the price so far, I've been impressed with it. Ive shot a few rounds of sporting clays with it and it shoots great.

Personally I prefer guns to be fairly light but muzzle heavy. Best of both worlds. Easy to carry and shoulder yet still has the controllable swing of a heavier gun. I want my best guns to be both usable in the field and on the range.

Tip of the YEAR re these budget guns (nothing wrong in that BTW, not everyone can afford a Beretta) is this, just FORGET 30 inch barrels, and get a 28 inch versions instead and suddenly you have a gun that actually shoots really bloody well. I am currently holding a 28 inch Koff 20 bore for a female friend of mine whilst she applies for her SGC and have tried it out on our shoot and my cartridge ratio is the equal of my 30 inch 695 (if not slightly better but lets not tell her that!). By chance the best shot in our syndicate just happened to purchase the exact same 20 bore for his son, also 28 inch and I have witnessed him bringing down seriously high birds with it, and now he cannot sing its praises enough. Folks, PLEASE just forget the snobbery and just appreciate that these so called "cheap" Turkish guns can bring home the bacon as long as you accept that all you need to do is alter your mindset by accepting that they are muzzle heavy and so you just buy them 2 inches shorter because after all, "2 extra inches doesn't matter as much as technique" as the actress said to the Bishop!

I would like to add that Hatsan do have a bad name, but I haven’t had any issues with mine. 1000+ rounds through my escort and not even a feed issue and it even cycles 21g’s.

It does the same job as a silver pigeon but cheaper. No different to buying a fiesta vs buying a Lamborghini in my humble opinion

I have checked these, barrels are too heavy. It dips due to weight in front. Otherwise it looks good with little recoil. Ata tristar yaldiz or huglu are good 👍
