This line always got me because Thor has the all-tongue so he can speak every language.

So when he introduced Groot to Steve, it made me wonder if Tree is actually Groot's real name. Even Gamora called him Tree.

So when other people say "Groot" theyre saying something specifically to address Groot that only they both understand.

Thor canonically addresses characters wrong so it could go either way.

But it's cool because once you love Groot you both understand every "I am Groot" reference. It's like Stewie or the Rugrats where you never quite know if the characters are talking to the audience or each other and how much is actually being understood or translated. Super meta and a nice touch.
