is no Headtracking possible without the base stations ?

Or, Pico 5 max this time next year?😁for the same price, 3840×3840 with controllers, standalone.

I've nothing but issues out of my Valve Index and HP G1 7800x3d xt7900xtx build with a 2tb 990 pro RX 850 watt Corsair P/M 32Gb 5600 DDR5 up from a Ryzen 9 5950x xfx 6950xt 32Gb DDR4 3600 SANE FRIGGIBG ISSUES ...JUDDERING TEARING SQUIGGLES FLUTTER AND FLAIRING ... I THINK THAT COVERS IT ... same exact issues one is win 10 the other win 11 I had loads of trouble with because of the 78003d chip acting as a gpu in x box settings ... what a freakin pain !!! I'm too stupid and or pig headed to give up lol still after it till it quits

The only thing stopping me buying one of these is that they rely on base stations produced by other companies. From what I can see those other companies are moving to inside-out tracking which I guess will mean no more base stations. This VR headset will be useless without them if they die and are no longer available. I'm waiting for something as good but a little better future proofed. Currently these are the best on the market...

What has happened to VR, these sets don't improve much, yet the price tag triples in price from the CV1. VR should be leaps and bounds better than it is after all these years, the price should not exceed £600, the headsets should be much lighter, smaller and less intrusive, these are the reasons VR is a niche product, and 95% of the games are abysmal, no more than mobile games, most following a very rudimentary design. My G2 is adequate, but never used since ALYX, 15 months ago. The whole VR eco system needs a good shake up, less dragging the tech out, pushing the price up, and improve the gastly media.
PS: And the nonsense with Flight Sims, your flying blind, fumbling around like a blind man, or using those silly controllers instead of my virpils....what?

Varjo Aero isn't a good all rounder and I think most people know that. But I feel the Varjo Aero has taken a few steps back in the software area and Varjo haven't been that responsive when it comes to fixing them. I'm pretty disappointed in how they do some things, started off good than it's fallen off a cliff.

I love my Aero, such a comfortable headset and top quality.

However, it has recently started to go blank on me in DCS World after 10-15 minutes flying. Sometimes the image comes back, but mostly the headset reboots and then I have to kill DCS in task manager and relaunch it. Very annoying and I don't have an issue with other simulators

Note: VR ROCK don't do lenses for the Aero unfortunately

Would be nice if you could make a setup video for beginners starting up with the varjo+4090 to get some hints how it runs best/smoothly

Can’t say the chromatic aberration bothers me. In fact, I don’t notice it. One gripe I have with the Aero is that it doesn’t fit my head that well. I had to attach weights to the neck strap to get it in balance. My G2 fits like an old worn in hat. Other than that, I agree. It’s a reeeally good VR headset! Looking forward to your review of the Crystal though. Your review has the power to sell at least one headset. No pressure! ;)

Well, all your 1000 hour review of the Aero did is make me want it even more. Blew my sim budget wide open this year with the purchase of a 4090 and the MFG Crosswind rudder pedals (great pedals by the way). Hopefully Santa leaves a new Aero under the tree for me this Christmas.

Steve, just got my huge upgraded computer to push max data to my Varjo Aero with its RTX4090 GPU card! I have never seen the detail now revealed by this combo! The performance even low level with difficult venues like Chicago and London show very few judders. Performance is very smooth. This is the best VR I have ever experienced! Love it! THIS SIM IS JUST SO GOOD!

Wait til you get the Varjo XR and can have your physical simpit embedded into your sim so you can manually flip your switches and so on. Cockpit is augmented reality superimposed on top of virtual reality.

Mini LEDs and aspherical lenses are definitely great.
The viewing angle of the current PIMAX is excellent, but the clear night view is disappointing.
The night view of PIMAXCrystal, which has the same configuration as I tried in TOKYO, was wonderful.
I'm using the Openxrtool kit, but it's very inconvenient that it doesn't have desktop overlay features, like Steam's XSOverlay for example.
Maybe you know a solution?

Great video Steve - I have done a similar number of hours in my Aero and have to agree - it is awesome; you mention you are using Motion Prediction - is that now behaving itself? Regarding the DOF Reality motion simulator, I would be keen to hear updates on its performance; I have read that motors often fail so any indication as to how yours fares over time would be really useful; and finally, did you get the motion issues sorted out (I think you were almost falling out of the plane when the motion simulator was in use! Keep up the great work. Jonathan.

Love your videos, as someone who has tested pretty much every headset on the market I can guarantee a few things about the Pimax crystal. Buggy software, very uncomfortable, nose sores, dead pixels, tracking issues.....beta firmware 🙂 I heard the FOV is about the same as the pico 4 in reality, inside something weighing 1.2kg lol

Dang... Chromatic aberration ?? So the Varjo is no good then. Or maybe I misunderstood. I guess I must have, as you endured 7 hours of chromatic aberration in ONE session. See? I always try to focus on the positive, Steve. We all should. Great video! Love from Norway ♥♥♥♥♥

The thing I don't like bout my Aero is the poor binocular overlap and the way that the inner side of each lense has a hard angled straight line that create a translucent dimond shape dead center of the fov. The should've rounded it to it could feel natural to the eye. Also the overall fov has to be made larger on the next head set. They also need to add system wide dynamic foviated rendering. Im hopping the Crystal will replace mine and counter the crystals issues.

Does the foveated rendering work in msfs? I wonder how it will perform on a 4070ti

Have you ever had trouble with the Aero disconnecting from the computer if you take them off to rest during a flight? I have had that problem for a while

How is its mini-led working? The local dimming of Quest Pro was enabled with PCVT but flying at night is still bad ... I guess OLED is the only solution.

what about the fan against fog and the display respons time ? these are key things which are more imporant for me than just bigger fov on crystal. the display are faster than g2 which makes it smoother experience

What are the differences between the Aero and the pico 4 please? Please can someone try and summarise the main issues for those who are new to vr. Is it mainly the resolution or are there other points that distinguish them?

I would love to have a Varjo aero but I need an RTX 4090 + base station and audio / microphone solutions what makes is just too expensive I am afraid. Thank god I did not see it it yet or I would rob a bank ;-) like you say, you can't unsee it once you had it on your head. DANGER

The only way I can anticipate the Crystal not surpassing the Aero may be the comfort factor. But, we'll see...eventually.

Another Outstanding reaffirmation of how great the Varjo Aero is! I have over 2000 hours of real world flying and there have been moments when making approaches to my local airport in the Aero that seemed so real I almost forgot I was flying a sim!

How do you feel about the red and blue shift? Nobody seems to talk about it. Love the headset but some objects that should be flat have a 3d effect. I believe this is due to one panel being upside down
