Fluid Acrylic Pouring - Mixing my Paint (Reference) - Paint/Pouring Medium Ratios

Hey Everyone! Thank you for being here today. Today I am showing you a quick video on how I mix my paint depending on what technique I am using. I have also added some information below which you can refer to:

No one size fits all – you will need to judge for yourself the right consistency depending on what paint you use. I find this guide is generally good for Amsterdam, Winsor and Newton, System3 Acrylics and Arteza. All paint pigments do differ from brand to brand.

The thinner consistency I use for the Dutch Pour, the thickest consistency I use for techniques like a ring pour, straight pour and balloon dip. A medium consistency or flow is used for a funnel pour and a swipe.

My general rule is – 1 part paint to 3 or 4 parts pouring medium; and then I add water (25ml each time) to get a faster flow, thinner consistency for techniques like the dutch pour. I don’t usually measure my recipes as I just judge by how it looks and feels when I mix the paint and pouring medium today – over time you just get to know what works for the type of brand paint you use.
