Hey Charles, this is a long awaited video, and is a great one as usual. I didn’t know my Levy tamper came calibrated when I got my pro 600. I had a hard time tuning it up, I think I just messed what was fixed already. Would I need to adjust the depth when switching between double or triple baskets?

Works for other brands too 😉

My Levy Tamp arrives on Saturday and I look forward to using it with my OCD distribution tool. I like that it will be a tighter fit tighter (58.5mm) than my current tamper (58mm) and the tapered sides should prevent any suction when removing the tool.

Great video! Considering purchasing the distribution tool...could you clarify...I see you didn’t tamp after using. Do you still need to use a tamper with a DT? I was under the impression that you do. And if so, when using one does it just distribute or compress your grounds enough that you would need to adjust the pressure at which you tamp? Thank you

If you don't mind me asking, what are the significant differences performance wise when comparing Saint Anthony's Distribution tool and the Ona Coffee Distribution tool v3?

Had to comment on vocabulary. The word “efficacy” rocks. Finding a millennial hipster to utter it is like finding Sasquatch! Kudos sir!

Can another kind of coffee create another volume so that the levy will be out of balance?

I wonder if I need both of these tools, or if it's okay to just use the distribution tool alone

this tamp method is volumetric, so compression-pressure will vary with different dose-volumes?

Could you use the leveler a little deeper, at the same depth as the push tamper, and leave it at that? I’ve been looking at several experts and there is, as usual, no consensus...

Charles, as always your videos are 1st rate. I've watched a lot of them and as a home barista of about 15 years, I find a lot of knowledge and tips. I have been eyeing the Saint Anthony tamper & leveler for a while now (I'm a stochfleth & regular tamper guy). My only question is this: How do these tampers translate to home barista use? A barista in a cafe pretty much uses the same beans and dose day after day so to set these devices up seems very helpful. But to a home barista who is constantly trying out different beans requiring different doses and portafilter sizes, are these devices really helpful? It seems that one would constantly be calibrating their tamper and leveler.

It may already be there but I would love to see a video on the distribution tool only method as well. All of Clive's videos are great. I am north of the border so can't be a Clive client easily sadly.

Love your video. I assume you use the Wedge first, and then the Tamper. It looks like you used the Wedge and then went to the espresso machine for the brew. Could you please clarify for me. Thanks. Dan

Just a heads up, if you use a Motta level tamper or distribution tool just be aware that the thread is a very loose fit which can mean they can sit slightly tilted and therefore giving an unlevel tamp (still probably better than a manual tamp though). I fixed this by adding some plumbers tape to the threads to tighten them up.

I bought the St Anthony’s Bloc Station and BT Wedge and they are fantastic for preparing a perfect puck of espresso. And they look fantastic.

Your camera speaking skills are excellent. If you have the time, it would be worth putting you in front of the camera to "refresh" and even lengthen (with more detail) some of the other videos.
