What a wet song. How did this come fourth? I guess we’d hit peak Ed Sheeran in 2018.

Ich verstehe immer noch nicht, wie wie damals so gut hiermit abschneiden konnten. Versteht mich nicht falsch, ich freue mich total darüber, aber frage mich gleichzeitig auch, was die Leute damals dazu bewogen hat, für uns abzustimmen und jetzt nicht mehr. Und nur "weil er gut gesungen hat" und "es ein gutes und berührendes Lied" ist, finde ich keine rechtfertigenden Argumente. Sind wir ehrlich, so extrem kacke waren die meisten unserer anderen Lieder auch nicht und sie wurden alle letzter oder vorletzter. Ich weiss noch, als ich ihn zum ersten Mal gesehen habe und mir gleich dachte: "Das werden wieder null Punkte." Nicht weil ich es nicht mochte, sondern weil es so "unauffällig" ist, dass ich dachte, dass es sicherlich neben den anderen Acts untergehen wird.

As a German, this entry has given me hope that we can still send a good song to the ESC 😉. That year, it was urgently necessary to move forward again, after we had only disaster results the years before. I can remember that I predicted it to be 11th. I was all the more pleased when it became 4th place, which, apart from Lena's victory, was the best placing since 1999. In Germany people are always quick to whine "Europe doesn't like us" blah blah. Wrong! You just have to present an authentic song that touches people, that's all.

When NDR accidentally sent a good song to Eurovision

I completely forgot that this song existed until i heard a snippet of it earlier today and i dropped everything to put it on
Needless to say, I'm crying now

This song came out less than a year after my mum passed away. It was exactly what I needed at the time and will always have a special place in my heart <3
