I know a nurse who whips her mask down to talk. A NURSE. Cue me: as an immunosuppressed person, taking several steps backwards or sideways. I feel like I'm a knight on a freakin' chessboard the amount of time I spend taking steps away from people.

🌊 I work in retail and luckily here masks are mandatory but I still see way too many noses and ppl who take their masks off to cough or sneeze are the bane of my existence. Yes, it feels very gross but you can leave in a few minutes, so PLEASE keep the damn mask on!

Sir, I thin kyou were mistake about Haemoglobin. Haemoglobin is an Iron containing protein found in the RBC's which help transport oxygen from the lungs to the other parts of the body where the blood flows.

Our hospital's black scrubs are reserved for ED seniors and pathology scientists. And as a transfusion scientist in my mid-20s, I get a lot of weird looks when I walk through the hospital. Also yes, Americans measure haemoglobin in decilitre, Australians measure haemoglobin in g/L.

I only took opioids for kidney stones broken ribs and a kidney infection

The attending physician thing... my doctor was like that when I went in for a check up as a patient... so I talked faster. XD

In regards to lowering your mask to talk: I legit have anxiety if I can’t see someone talking. It’s like when I talk with someone, it doesn’t make sense or tit doesn’t translate to my brain if I can’t see them talking (I hear just fine-I’m not hearing impaired). I even have to put on the captions on my tv because when I watch tv, it’s like they talk so fast or again, it’s just not making sense what they are saying without the captions. So with the masks, it takes my brain a little longer to understand what the other people are saying. What is up with that? Please tell me I’m not the only one😩

Opioids do have serious side effects, but I dare you (if it were possible), to trade my pain for a day, and still say that I should just live with it.

I did that when I went for a Covid test. I was bad sick and hadn't talked in several hours. I took my mask down for the nurse and as soon as I tried to answer the nurses question I coughed all over her before I could pull my mask back up.
I felt so bad.

Can u educate me? How do you lower a person's blood pressure? I once had 30 strokes a minute, declared myself dead and all. Shows my watch was just malfuncunctionig. 😂

Hey - that's how I lower my sugar, too! I'm always complimented on my medical compliance. Dr. Syl, you're the best "reactor" I've watched. Too many doctors are kind of somber. Honestly, my own real ophthalmologist is too somber...😒

I know this is a year late, and I'm sorry to come at it like this, but as a chronic pain patient with arthritis at a very young age, the artificially high fear of doctors to prescribe opioids has prevented me from ever having meaningful analgesia. I am not a special case. Thousands if not millions of pain patients have been lost access (or, like me, never had access) to medication that massively improves quality of life.

I promise you, all of the arguments you make against opioids won't hold up if you're the patient. I know you're still in training, but your voiced opinion makes it clear that you are in dire need of a better perspective on pain management.

I'm happy to talk to you about this and share my own experiences if you're interested in hearing more, but at minimum, please remember that telling someone in pain that expecting to not be in pain is unreasonable is never an appropriate answer.

It is not that "people want pain free lives.". In the US, an opioid company created and funded the concept that pain is one of the vital signs that must be stabilized.

One little point old chap I had my spine crushed L1, L2 & L3 are now mechanically fused and 1/3 original high with spiral wedged fractures with massive nerve damage I have lived 20 years in more pain than most doctors are capable of understanding. Without nerve suppressants and yes the evil high-level pain killers I would be in a box because I should have no ability to do anything apart from scream and rock and seek an exit.

I accept more pain every second of the day far more than most will ever truly experience or truly comprehend. It's not just the pain amount it's that it never gives us any reprieve. I understand pain can't be taken away completely. If you want to know my response I will get a nice van and hit you at 60 MPH then you can tell me exactly how I am meant to react after 20 years of pain and having to listen to Doctors who are NOT pain control experts pontificating like every patient is the same.

Yes, I know you're talking about the usual idiot with a little twinge demanding morphine but what about as I said the other end of the scale? I don't drug seek or increase my dosage, I have a small quality of life I value thanks.

Doctors on this rant would never dare say such a thing to a cancer sufferer. So why do you think our pain is less important or factual? When it's evidenced and proven. So thanks for this you have annoyed me greatly and wasted my time having to respond.
