Great overview, thank you. I chose the HP Omen 15 (mid 2019/early 2020 version) with all metal build. I purchased it in May 2021 with the 1660 ti GPU/10750h Intel processor and absolutely love the dang thing. I feel affirmed after viewing your many videos on the HP Omen 15 too, Bob. Granted the 10th generation Intel processors tend to run hot very easily, I don't game on it primarily as I have a gaming desktop. Still, it's nice to have a backup computer (like my HP Omen 15 gaming notebook) if something happens to my desktop (i.e. as of January 2022, desktop prices are through the roof). Additionally, I do appreciate having a number pad, RGB lighting and comfortable keyboard on my HP Omen as it genuinely mimics my desktop which I'm grateful for.

Lol I'd buy a laptop that won Bob's laptop of the year award. Cause I'd know it was gonna perform and be tuner friendly. It's scary people are buying laptops that are straight 🔥 🔥 🔥 but undervolting is blocked.

I have purchased the lenovo aY740, Legion Y740-17IRHg Laptop (Lenovo) - Type 81UJ0001US

Tbh, this is a really good laptop since it has solved the previous issue as follows:

- Battery has been upgraded (76 Whr)
- Keyboard (they changed it to full sized keyboard), macro is integrated with the numpad.
- Bottom camera which has been moved to the top.

The thermal is also always stay in the area of 40 degrees during normal use (browsing, movie) which is really good since I live in southeast Asia which is hot all year around.

The only donwside is that the screen is only 300 nit. But hey, I only used it indoor so it shouldnt be much of an issue to me.

Best of all, I managed to get about 1.5k usd for 2080 max-q, 1TB SSD and 16GB of ram.

Please get me some opinions about MSI GL65-9SDK. I7-9750H and GTX1660ti and a 15.6" FHD 120hz display. I purchased it at 899$ on black friday.
Please get me some undervolting tips and tricks to get the best out of that machine.

I was looking for a gaming laptop last summer and I was reading reviews and watching videos for days trying to get my mind together. And it was your review of Asus gl531gu that actually triggered me and clarified a lot of questions I had. So I bought one (9750h version though) with a kit of low-latency 32GB RAM and it really is a great machine. It really helped me to understand that you get only as many juice of the modern CPU as your cooling system allows it and this laptop really shines in this area. Thanks a ton, man! I have bought an Asus ROG Strix G G731GU with I7 9th gen, 1660ti, 16gb ram and i have to say that it is amazing!

I bought a Y540 9750hf 1660ti yesterday and returned it today. Weird scraping noise from one of the fans and it sounded like a fighter jet while playing not even a demanding game

What do you think about the Zephyrus G with the AMD+Nvidia combo? I'm interested in this Laptop, but in Germany you can't get the 120Hz model :/. Also one RAM is fixed on the motherboard and it comes in single channel. Upgrading to dual channel is a must with the Ryzen, what do you think? :)

Whats your opion on MSI GF65 THIN 9SD-004 15.6" Thin Bezel FHD - i7-9750H - GTX 1660 Ti at $1,049.00? my Overpowered LP-2 died with no reason (refuses to turn on) and i need a new laptop with good specs and not so expensive.

Pretty damn happy with the Y540 (after some UV/OC work) for $1200 with 9750H RTX 2060 1TB SSD 144hz!

But man I wish I knew as much about the laptops out there as I do now as there are quite a few really good ones at very solid price points for what you're getting. The Mag 15 in particular is a beast!

Hey Bob merry Christmas. I own a HP omen 15. I7 8750h n 2070 max q. I've undervolted the CPU by -.150v on both core n cache. Machine ran fine with this config for a year but recently I get black screens randomly in breakpoint n fallen order however computer is responding but display is off n I ve to hard reset it to get things working. I also ve 150mhz n 350mhz overclock in msi afterburner on core n memory. Is it the undervolt or the overclock causing this?

Watching this with my MSI GE75 that I just bought this year. Definitely a right decision.

Hey Bob so i am a graphic design student and was confused between getting the p65 creator 1084 (UHD, RTX 2060, and 100% sRGB and Adobe RGB, 32 gigs of ram) and GP 75 9se (RTX 2060, FHD, 16 gigs of ram , almost 100% sRGB and close to 74%Adobe RGB).
So the reason why i am confused is because... the p65 looks sleek and all.. but i dont know about the thermals. So which will have better performance in the long run? I don't want the thermals to limit the performance output that i could get. I also like to game as a matter of fact. SO PLEASE HELP ME OUT , WHICH ONE WOULD YOU RECOMEND?

You pretty much called it, I don't regret the helios 300, I got a better than the black friday deal, but you're right, given the option, I'd have taken the mech 15 (although I bought a 512 on amazon to add to the predator to get 3/4 TB). Either will do everything I need them to, and in 2-3 years there will be (hopefully) cooling/fan advancements so they get comparable performance and aren't so loud.

Putting the battery, construction and thermals aside. Which laptop has the better cpu performance, the Mech or the Mag 15?

How's the Lenovo support. Loving my y740 for the last few months. But now it's had a massive hardware failure (either hard drive or memory, maybe both) . Anyone know if they are good with their on site premium repairs? Do they replace parts?

imho - no thick bezzels in 2020

I have the Y740, I love the laptop besides the battery issue and the cooling noises I'm getting. I cannot stand matte black plastic and love the aluminum build quality. I got it as a cyber Monday deal and it's been performing really well, just gonna have to deal with the big charger.

I'm looking for a laptop for gaming,cad,3dmodelling and some rendering. Since I'm an architecture student I'm looking for it to be portable and somewhat good battery.

What would be the best suggestion for a laptop ? I'm also in Asia, despite the mag15 being awesome I'm very skeptical on the warranty issues as it is US based

Man, I just love all your videos. Have been following ardently, of late, since I'm in the market to get a new laptop. I've also been very curious as to whether I should invest in one right now, or wait till the first quarter of 2020.

Your reviews are detailed, logical and straightforward and presented perfectly. I think I can pretty much listen to you speak about anything, at this point lol

i am literally in love by 9 months now with my rog gl704gw... having a full fat rtx 2070 that overclocks to 1620mhz stable (basically desktop stock frequencies) with curve in msi after is by far worth every single money you spend. I love this lap not only for the 2070, everything is top notch, display is just gorgeous (not only in terms of contrast and color but even in the matte coating that is different that many other laptops, is a sort of less matte, almost semi glossy, that make the screen really beatifull to look at, almost as a non matte screen with the pro of matte for reflections). Add to the equation a beautifull display lid of metal, an incredible keyboard for feed, two wonderfull 3.5watts speaker that sound really GREAT, and a good 66wh battery that gave to me almost 4 and a half hours with my usage and for me is just the perfect laptop. It's not even hot if you tweak it good like me, even if a plan to repaste with good paste and good thermalpad instead of that gummy mess that asus use from factory. The perfection will be if asus had used a second m2 storage instead of 2.5 sata, leaving the extra space for a bigger (mayby 80wh?) battery.


Bob... i don't know if is possible, but maybe here will fit the battery of 80wh from the newer gx701? Just out of curiosity. Sorry for my english, is just not my primary language.
