Maybe the map wasn't exclusively for the empress ending at first since it's the snow map of white orchard and they've already done these changes. Not really an explanation on what all this was meant but I don't think it had anything to do with the empress ending specifically

I have never finished the Witcher III . I reach a point where the Protagonist's level is insufficient to defeat any foe . That and the game was a notorious grind .

They need to keep authentic games like that. Without putting sjw woke trash in games. The nonsense they are doing to games now instantly takes the feel and authenticity out of the game and sets you back in 2023 with our current day probelms.

Devils pit could be right but I don't see why that would appear on the white orchard map. It is a different instance?. My guess and I actually have been digging for an ending for a long time, is the crone that got away with Vesimirs medallion. That would have been exellent in that ending. Ciri and Geralt going on one last hunt together to get that medallion back. On stead of all the random stuff they did like hunting. Fishing and watching some nest she seen a thousand times. Also the nests fit that theme. And the places of power gone dead because she drained them or something.

That's actually an interesting interpretation of Avallac'h's line there in the end. I always understood that as "you tried to cover up our ruins by building over them, and your mages used them to their advantage," but now that's you say it, it could also be a possibility that people are naturally drawn to places which have strong magic around them, even if they have no magic-related skills
