Thank you for the video. Nice job. Im sticking with the ultra 2 titanium. This watch does everything I need without the need to upgrade or switch to the 10. The black titanium ultra 2 is beautiful but not enough to push me to change colors.
ОтветитьLove the series 10
ОтветитьI keep finding the smaller Apple watches 10 series or lower women's models. I've had the 8 and 9 in gold and it just didn't look good on my wrist. But it looks very nice on my wife's wrist. The AWU1 or 2 is a large watch that exudes masculinity. And with the AUW2 I easily get three days of battery life, while the 10 series barely gets through the day.
ОтветитьYour life must be boring. If you have no use for all those features on your Apple Watch Ultra too because I use my feature on my Apple Watch Ultra 2 all the time I used to ask button for a flashlight I use my compass decibel meter. My elevation all the health features sleep apnea a battery that can go for two days easy and I can whack it off everything and I know it’s not going to damage my watch regular Apple Watch. Your screen is exposed and you will damage it.
ОтветитьBro you ain’t ditching the watch but downgrading. They call it Apple Watch Ultra 2 for a reason!
ОтветитьI am following the same decisions as you have been...for the first time I went smaller with the 16 Pro vs the 16 Pro Max. I also traded-in my Ultra 1 and a previous gen watch for the Series 10 and went with aluminum (compared to always going with stainless) because the 10 aluminum is so light that I can wear it at night. The quick charge gives me the opportunity to charge while getting dressed, So for me I am starting to lean towards smaller and lighter again compared to bigger and more showy.
ОтветитьI have the Ultra 2 for about a year, just bought the new dark green Alpine band and think it looks stunning. After wearing the same design Apple watch for about 6 years before, the Ultra is a very welcome change and also you don't see it as much as the regular versions. Going back to the design that we already know for 10 years doesn't sound appealing to me at all. A matter of preference, of course.
ОтветитьHe just needs a reason to make a new video . He ll “change again” for all future models
ОтветитьHello Chris!! I remember one episode of your podcast when you said that everybody were using Apple Watches and that wasn’t cool and the Ultra is popular but not so much! Any way from a Casio G Shock fan that finally jump to the Apple Watch because of the ultra… I’ll continue using it instead of the regular one!
Great video! I’m considering to have your Freeform course on my next vacations!!
bet you regret it
ОтветитьGreat video. I have the Series 4 and definitely itching to upgrade - but should I? I watched a ton of vides. Some claim if your going to buy the Titanium S10 - ya might as well get the Untra2 because it's less money (looks great - the new metal black) and the battery life is longer. Another video claims that the heart rate and GPS tracking is much more accurate and better on the S10 than the Ultra2. Hmmm .... Could this be the better chip set? Like you I don't need that much watch (Ultra2) - I do some trail walking - in the city - not off the grid and maybe I might go to Algonquin Park next summer. But other than that not really roughing it in my daily life. I can't justify paying 1k+ for a watch - that I could accidentally take off in the bathroom and forget it 😭. Because I have done this with a Seiko. So ya if I do upgrade, then likely the S10 is for me. OR should I wait? Rumour is Apple is going to do every couple of year upgrades - so we might not see a S11 next year - maybe an Ultra3. And I was hoping for the Glucose option - but I don't think this is coming ... ever - Dexcom and Abott would pay them not to release this.
ОтветитьI'm used to the ultra bought the 42mm rose gold because it's light and looks cute. but yesterday when I did my normal workouts I was almost out of battery at 8 in the evening . it wasn't a big problem because it charge really fast. but I do prefer the battery of the ultra, so I,m wearing my year old ultra instead the new series 10. I think I workout a bit to much for the normal watch
Ответитьthe biggest thing for me is battery and aesthetics. The pebble shape of a normal AW has never appealed to me. the ultra, especially the black, is just so beautiful. The flat screen also can't be overstated, it's so much nicer. The feel of it in your hand and on your wrist is a much better experience. Mine is still new but the battery is extremely convenient. I automatically put it on the charger when I take it off my wrist for a few minutes to shower or just relax, and it still hasn't gone below 60% ever.
Ответитьwhat made you go with the 46mm over the 42mm is it too small not enough bang for buck
Ответитьwhat made you go with the jet black and how do you like it so far compared to the silver in the ultra
Ответитьinteresting... I wasn't expecting this
ОтветитьI would like better battery life
ОтветитьBattery life in the ultra is the reason why I changed to the black from the S9. It is just a more practical watch. Not the most fashionable, but the most practical. The action button is definitely something I use all the time.
ОтветитьUpgraded from series 7 went to series 10 and had it for a few days. Love it and for me it was mainly due to the battery of my old watch not lasting long enough. This watch is faster at charging and I do love how you can listen to music and Podcasts without AirPods or phone. Jet black is really sweet. I do agree with you that I am scared of scratches and dings.
ОтветитьWhich size might be comparable to Ultra 2 in daily usage? And how long is the battery lasting in real life (without cellular connection)?
ОтветитьKnocked 2 normal Apple Watch screens on door frames and other things = crack….. been rocking an Ultra 2 for a year of more…clunked a load of things with my wrist and it still looks like new. No brainer for me…and if I had any doubt then there is the battery …
ОтветитьI was interested in bigger screen, better battery life as well.
ОтветитьI went to the 10 from the ultra too for just about all the same reasons… traded the ultra in towards it and the 10 was a fraction of the cost
ОтветитьCan see the same guy lobbying in 1 yr on why ultra 3 thinner is the better purchase than the boring series 10 😆 that is what Apple does to you ! Just buy what makes you feel happy
ОтветитьIf the 10 had 3 day+ battery, maybe. But no, so a hard no
ОтветитьThis video sounds like you trying to convince yourself Apple Watch is down grade from ultra I’m never going back it’s just way better
ОтветитьI currently have the Apple Watch Ultra 1 and I'm upgrading to the Apple Watch Series 10 next week.
My Ultra 1 is at 90% battery life and I prefer to switch to the series 10 because it's thinner and lighter than the Ultra and, like you, I'm not an adventurer, so I don't need advanced GPS.
I tried this for a week. Ultimately I returned my Series 10 and just bought the Ultra 2 in black. Losing the action button (my garage door opener) and the ultra watch faces not on the series 10 also a deal breaker. Then factor in 2 day battery life and a more masculine vibe of the Ultra I had to go back to it.
ОтветитьThe Ultra is worth it for non "adventurers" or whatever Apple calls them because of the BATTERY LIFE. It is so freeing to not have to worry about charging every day. It's also rugged enough not to have to worry about scratches, dents, etc., all stuff people with the lower tier models deal with.
ОтветитьThe best watch to get and pay for is the ultra 2 the regular series watch’s are known for scratches and cracks easily id suggest to pay the extra buck to have a watch for years instead of 6 months to a year you end up spend more $ on cheaper watch upgrading and fixing screens the ultra 2 didn’t need a ultra 3 it Isn’t very apple like but the didn’t make a 3 because they know it’s the choice to pick
ОтветитьI did the same thing. Love the ultra but it was just too big. Series 10 in titanium is great.
ОтветитьI did that
ОтветитьAre you nuts? Ditching Ultra 2 for Series X? No way I’d ditch mine for that.
Ответитьultra being marketed as an adventure watch is just... marketing. people buy ultras because of the battery life, nothing else. adventure people whatever that might mean still buy garmins
Having cellular connectivity is an underrated safety feature, being able to leave iPhone at home while outdoors is a big plus. The larger battery of Ultra (~12 hours cellular) inspires confidence in this respect. No doubt fast charging is coming to the Ultra 3 next year.
ОтветитьWhat about the SE2?
ОтветитьI’ll stick with Timex and Casio with their 10 year batteries. Though I’ll admit, when I had to use my personal phone for work in a loud warehouse, vibrations on my wrist was handy.
ОтветитьI find it quite weird that the Ultra didn't get updated with the s10 chip like the regular series 10 did. I guess they did that because the performance between the s10 and s9 aren't much different? Still, it's pretty silly how you get newer or better chip on $399 watch vs $800 Ultra.
ОтветитьWell, I appreciate your change of heart. I still love my Apple Watch Ultra so I’ll will continue to be rocking that. I realize the new watch is tempting for sure.
I’m going to wait out for next year to see what comes and then I’ll consider it, hoping for more health options in the watch next year.
It’s Ultra 2 (and future versions) or nothing. Sorry bud!
ОтветитьThere isn’t a watch face better than the modular ultra…no way I’m going backwards.
ОтветитьI’ve sold my Ultra 2 and went for the Series 10 Hermès. Beautiful piece.
Ответитьnope, never gonna ditch my ultra 2
ОтветитьI use to have series 4 stainless steel with Hermes strap but no one realised it. Haha just go with Jet Black. Blend better with darker strap and future tech advancement I’ll change again.
ОтветитьJust ditched mine; HR keeps disconnecting on runs, VO2 Max score is broken and sleep tracking is also broken sadly. I now wear a Pixel Watch 3 with a Pixel 9 Pro XL and it's far more accurate. Shame because I love it's toughness and sapphire crystal glass.
ОтветитьDitch this ) 😂
ОтветитьI use the Action Button all the time to toggle the flashlight on and off. The longer battery life, larger screen size, improved scratch resistance, and integrated cellular radio are all features I can’t live without. My next AppleWatch will be some future iteration of the Ultra.
The larger screen size makes it a LOT easier to use the calculator and to type messages. The calculator is a must-have feature for me and the larger screen size means my input is much more accurate.
And, yes, I know I can get cellular on a Watch 10 but that starts bringing the cost close to the cost of the Ultra 2 and for the $$ I would save, I'd lose all of the above features
I bought the Ultra 2 last year for the same reasons as you, and many of the Ultra's selling points are lost on me. I love the ridiculous battery life, the bright display, and that it doesn't look like literally every other Apple Watch sold in the last 10 years.
So, I should be able to move to the Series 10 as you did and not miss anything about the Ultra, except the long battery life.
But I'm reluctant to do that, mostly due to the expense of buying a new S10 with cellular and getting a crappy trade-in price for my 1-year-old Ultra 2. And also, once you get used to 36-hour battery life, it's really hard to go back to 18.
I still have a slightly older non-Ultra Apple Watch when I really want something thin and light, like for sleep tracking. (Yes, it's not as thin as the S10, but it's a lot closer to that than the Ultra).
This combo works well for me. I'll consider a Series 10 (or its successor) when I feel I've gotten my investment out of the Ultra 2.
Thanks for the video! Also, you have a nice community here, lots of the commenters have good insights.
LMAO, you want a light tech footprint but you are going to wear a smartwatch...
