EVERYTHING IS BROKEN - Age Of Empires 3: Definitive Edition Is A Perfectly Balanced Game W/ Exploits

I used to play the old Age of Empires 3 with my friends when we were little. We didn't understand it at all and that's probably why it was so fun haha!

I am positively shaking watching an Englishman playing Age of Empires 3 DE play as the British without using the Virgina Company card.

(It makes English houses cost 80 wood instead of 135.)

This game is broken:

--on 1v1, half the civs aren't played because they aren't competitive
--It's possible to build walls faster than it's possible to destroy them without getting a defenseless 100% siege army, making a micromanaging wall spammer nigh unassailable.
--In late game, infinite muskets from infinite Russian forts, infinite French cavalry, and morters spammed from within your base from the Japanese general dude who is FASTER than any of your units (thereby uncatchable if he slips into your base) make the end game hell
--Getting into rank +20 plus is ONLY a matter of hotkeys, orders per minute, and micromanagement. The general strategy of a level 15 could be hardly any different from a level 35 player, except that the level 35 player issues more orders per minute and the lower skill player can't keep up.

I just "lost" to a wall spammer after more than an hour of repetitively destroying the same walls over and over again (it takes like 30 seconds to destroy a wall segment, but only 3 seconds to build it again, and he's constantly blasting my army with artillery and charging with muskets from behind his infinite walls). I put parenthesis around "lost", because although he hadn't set foot in my base for 40 minutes, it just got really tiring to constantly be attacking him and unable to make progress. It is BS that this is possible. I think I might uninstall the game.

I've played this game on and off since the venilla version. I'm a big fan, flaws and all, and I've come to love the DE version. The AI has always been dumb, or a cheat and it would be nice if the devs would fix it up while they are working on update like they have. I don't think you're right to say it's a 5/10 for that tho. Playing against a person is so much different and fun. The game is improving every day and it's really been a great game from the beginning IMO. I'd say it's a 7.5/10 for anyone that might pick it up first time, and a 9/10 on a personal level. I love this game and will continue to play AoE 3 DE.

The AI don't do anything until 'Hard' difficulty. Don't do a video with standard difficulty AI. You'll sleep before it end.

Sorry for not drinking tea while posting this, but in AoE3, I was able to exploit as well. I played on an archipelago map, and placed a fence/gate on the marsh bridges. The opponent simply would not attack the gate even if they had an entire army. So I could build my army as big as I wanted while using a single cannon galleon to destroy their entire military. Fun times!

The AI ​​not doing anything in Ceylon is something that has been dragging on since the original age of empires 3, it's not something new from the definitive edition, they should have fixed it.

It would be interesting if in a game like this, if you gather resources from a node slowly it will stay there, but if you gather too quickly the resource will start depleting. Gives an incentive to actually manage conservation of your resource nodes.

Spiff, I have played all the AoE games and love them all. For a quick game of victory I'll play 3, but 1 is actually my favorite. 2 is great, but I grew up on 1 so i get more enjoyment out of it.

we all know and love age of empires 3... except for those annoying 20 yearolds who feel the need to constantly remind everybody that age of empires 2 exists, and that how it's always somehow better.

Ah, the bizarrely threatening or just useless offers to the first few thousand people who like the video. I do prefer them to the new style of now you legally have to like the video, but I can understand dropping the threshold aspect.
