How to Convert iTunes (12) AAC to MP3

when I chose convert a message show up saying (( the song could not be converted because protected files cannot be converted to other formats )). what do I do in this case ?

I followed the steps in the video but when it came to converting my music the 'Create MP3 Version' was greyed out. Does anyone know why?
