Hi I'm 22 and I have severe BPD, I've had major depressive disorders in the past but I'm worrying I'm falling again into it. I think it's easier for a person with BPD to being overwhelmed with negative emotions. Also I'm one of those desperate folks that takes 9 pills a day, but I can't lower the medication because my psychosis and dissociation are very bad. Any advices?

Do you still practice as an individual counselor in Texas? In my experience, I found that many licensed therapists and counselors are intimidated when they encounter patients with BPD and co-occurring (comorbid) diagnosis. Many simply diagnosed bipolar because it's easier to get the insurance to cover the medication and because of the misdiagnosis for inability to delineate between BPD and PTSD or Bipolar disorder. If you are not a trainer, you should definitely consider training some of these therapists on personality disorders.... Especially those who are therapists for those with the combination of BPD and C-PTSD or BPD and depression and so on... I love your perspective on complex... Excellent and very enlightening!!

Dr. Daniel, I really appreciate your videos and insight, they've helped me so much as I've chosen to no longer do therapy with professionals. I've found that on top of your videos, videos by Anna Runkle of "Crappy Childhood Fairy" have been the icing on the cake for my self treatment. She goes over emotional dysregulation caused by CPTSD and in my experience has been the best way to learn to self regulate BPD symptoms by using the "daily practice". I'd love to see some sort of collaboration between the two of you if possible

Thank you so much for clarifying this. It made me understand that why major depressive disorder treatment didn't completely work for me. No one actually thought about treating the BPD first.
I wish i could send this to all of my psychiatrists and therapists!

Not yet diagnosed but had a mental health “coach” say I definitely have it, it’s just getting my CMHT to listen/actually send an appointment out with them (only been 2 months during one of my lowest points, very long depressive episode) and I feel so heard and seen by you, currently working through your workbook to show them when they pull their finger out and get me seen. Bounced on every antidepressant in the UK and I just remember going on sertraline for the first time and that first week was euphoric, I was so happy, dying my hair, lots of energy for work and friends. Not had that since on any other medication.

Coming from someone who’s been diagnosed with anxiety (I can believe that) and depression (which I think is the crossover between BPD/depression)
Why can’t you be based here Id love you as a psychiatrist 😭 I feel so heard and seen, I’ve always been dismissed when I’ve brought it up to GP “you’re looking too far into it” 🥲 Not even allowed to state my reason why before hanging up (covid times lmao)

Going through a split at present. It took me a while to figure out why and where I am emotionally. I can only tell by my emotional state of mind . Depression is a big part of it. Though I don't like how to overcome this state of mind , I can see the progress and how I to cope through it . What I appreciate in my awareness is that I am being true and healing the broken part of me. The weak and broken part of me is stronger than it used to be. Thanks for your helpful videos 😊.

why are you so repetitive with no visuals or bullet points when you know so many borderlines have adhd? i watch your videos over and over again, replaying specific parts, and i feel like i get maybe one piece of info. reading books abt bpd doesn't have this same effect with me because they have bold bullet points.

Any research by those who live with kr through BPD ?
Some of the observations are incorrect since to someone outside it is theoretical.
I can explain some of the observations people with BPD have and experience that are not incorrect observations and experiences for example.
In certain cases, it us not disorder .
There are areas of life and society that are hailed as "normal" or "healthy", that are in fact rather bizarre and I do not share.
Hiwever, they are popular and so appear to have better functionality.

Can you talk about BPD and lamotrigine since lamotrigine is the one drug that seems to have some benefits for people with BPD? If a person diagnosed with depression fails to improve with multiple SSRIs, and gets worse on an antipsychotic, but gets dramatically better on lamotrigine along with a benzodiazepine (in a person with no history of substance use/abuse), is that a good indication that this is really a personality disorder instead of a mood disorder?

I just wish they would stop taking their depression and self-loathing out on other people.
These borderline personality disorder individuals are destructive. Retaliating.
Dangerous.
And they need to be held accountable for their abusive actions.
BPD is exhausting to everyone around them.
I cannot feel sorry for anyone who takes their depression and self-loathing out on other people, and then blame it on their BPD.
Thank you so much for listening to my input.
I have been on the receiving end of one of these people for 10 days straight. I had to finally send a cease and desist order.

Irritability can also come from pain and sensory disorders (distress from lights, wind, cold, bone, foods, temperature, noise, smells, itching, bothersome clothing) -- all common in autism.

i have BPD but was misdiagnosed as bipolar as a 14 year old and go started on different anti-psychotics that all gave me different and life threathening side effects.
i truly feel a disgust towards the medical 'proffesionals' that diagnosed me and medicated me as a young kid and I have a deep aversion towards the thought of going back to therapy. I I had been in therapy from 7 years old to 18 years and was abused by the mental health system.
I watch these types videos instead and becoming self aware and that has helped me so much more than any of the previous therapy I've ever had.

I have Bipolar disorder, BPD, Complex PTSD and severe anxiety (bordering on Agoraphobic.) I've just come back in contact with my daughter after 10 years apart. She also suffers with BPD Quiet type, depression and PTSD. My question is: How do I interact and communicate effectively and without hurting her? I'm reading up on a lot and watching a lot of you video's, thank you, but do you have anything more specific to my situation? I'm terrified of ruining this chance of having her back in my life. Any advice would be truly appreciated. Thank you so much for your input. Be well everyone
