All these pro union people have never actually been apart of a union apparently, unions don't do anything but collect dues and perpetuate themselves. Every union I've been apart of from Laborers to Teamsters has been a nightmare. They force new hires to pay them upwards of $550, let's say you choose that the job isn't right for you or you get fired that money is GONE. They will not return that cash to you or look for a new place of employment for you they will do nothing for you. Recently got some dental work done and the dentist said my insurance wasn't covering it, when contacting the benefits office they stated I only worked less than 1 week a month, it turns out the work my company was doing was in the jurisdiction of another union, they were supposed to send the hours to my own local, they did not. They are useless, tied to criminal organizations, and do nothing but perpetuate themselves.

No a union did not give you a 40 hour work week, weekends off, or benefits; that was an invention by Henry Ford to attract a better class of workers to his factories. You were lied to by union propaganda if you think this fact is wrong.

I’ve worked in union shops and non-union shops. The idea union people are lazy is a bunch of bullshit. A lot of times, they are given less resources than non-union places by management to prove a point.

My uncle has been a union blue collar trade worker all my life and they helped him get through losing his job and having surgery after the 08 financial crisis. I got a high paying union job and I can say that one pleasant side effect, other than wages keeping up with inflation, is that supervisors have to treat you with respect. The whole threatening attitude "When I say jump, you say how hi" doesn't fly. Technically, they aren't even allowed to ask you to do any work, if they need something done, they must go to the leads first and the leads will delegate the task. If they want to ask you to do something directly, they need to have a rapport with you and ask you as a favor. One thing to note is that it's the supervisors that have a high turnover and once in a while, we get a new supervisor that comes in with the wrong attitude. They usually don't last long. And all of the sups that treated their workers with respect, they are in upper level management now.

I have a love/hate relationship with unions. While I do see the benefits of having a union, I’ve also seen corruption in the very unions I’ve been under. Namely in the airline industry. It left a bitter taste just witnessing union members doing illegal acts. That notwithstanding, not having a union is dangerous. The illegal labor practices of today have sent us back to the 19th century! Another sad practice of corporations is to send operations overseas (as they have already done) or lobby congress (as they already do) to bust a strike!

Negotiate for yourself like a real man. If you need a union or someone to “represent” you, you have no spine. This is America, we have freedom to start a business and create jobs for those who want to work. You accept a job and agree to an hourly rate/salary. The company owes you nothing, if you don’t like your job then quit and get a better one. It’s very simple. Educated professionals with integrity deserve a living wage, not the entry level burger flipper/box donkey driving a truck around throwing packages to peoples doors. UPS drivers are making $49 an hour now with no education or actual skills. That is a slap in the face to people who actually work and go to school to aquire an actual skill. Overpaid union thugs is what they are. I actually agree with the liberals, open the borders so I can find cheap disposable labor that will work twice as hard and not complain unlike some whiny, lazy, union thug. I had some friends that worked at a Starbucks in Augusta Georgia, and the turnover for their location was absolutely insane. It felt like every other week they were firing someone for stupid reasons like being a couple minutes late to work after only one other warning, or not being pleasant enough with customers when they asked for irrational requests. An Union is like a cancer or a parasite. It spreads and kills its host and then the members loose their jobs. That is one of the reasons automation for positions in which low skill or manual labor are required have been automated. The Unions make labor so expensive that investing in robots for the auto industry, dealing with clients, call centers, washing cars and a whole lot of exemples exist, because unions make those jobs be unsustainable generating unemployment which is much worse for the poor and has much less growth potential.
