i think the 5950x is still gonna be a really good chip for many more years to come for almost anything you can do

I think tuned the results would be different. My 5950X does 30k on air while hitting 70*C I mean... So decent 7950X sample tuned must do like 45k no? If they claim 50 percent increase.

I just picked one up as a professional photographer that lives in photoshop and Lightroom, as well as a gamer. I felt obligated to buy this as an AMD share holder 🤣

At 4k on a 4090 it's maybe 5% faster than my 5900x but 80% in productivity tasks. I don't like background tasks taking away from responsiveness so I consider 12/24 minimum (8/16 for a pristine clean OS install but that only lasts so long) and there isn't a real huge difference for the 7950x. What's amazing is how far it destroys the TR2950x I had.

Why compare CPU with a software with different vendor.. I really don't understand what you are trying to do here. Vendor could be an AMD hater and they do not want to maintain their software performance.

Just ordered one of these for 574, new am5 mobo for 274, and one other goodies that are needed to run this CPU, at a nice discount. The next few weeks will be fun. And, no chance of me being cold... Until I undervolt it, that is.🤣🤣🤣

Yeah performance king right, but with massiv bios / agesa issues and TPM 2.0 issues, i had a 7900x and returned it for 13600k no problems at all, AMD = never again it was my first AMD build

The FPS difference vs 5950x is UNREAL, 80 FPS+ in at least 1 game.

I would really like to know how 7950X compares to (ideally overclocked) 1950X in code compilation tasks. I can not find them on single chart anywhere, and even weirder, the performance of 7950X is quite different between media for Chromium compilation ranging from 24 minutes to 40 minutes, which is 66% difference. Some show it way ahead of 13900k, and some show it loosing to 13900k in Chromium code compilation. Which makes deciding if to upgrade already, or not, and to what quite complicated :(

While I like Intel for its reliability, I think AMD has it beat on mobo's and now performance. I hate having to change the mobo each time I get a new cpu. So for my next build I'll probably go with AM5. I get if your pc is 10 yrs old, all the components have aged too...but if you want to get the latest and greatest cpu, you shouldn't have to rip out everything to get that upgrade.

AMD contacting the developers to perhaps find a solution for subpar performance is nice.

So far the top CPU makes the most sense given the total platform cost is pretty high.

really good video, the only thing that i find odd is your cp2077 fps is off and i am not sure why, is that test with or without RTX on?, i currently have a ryzen 3600 with a 6700xt, 30" ultrawide at 2560x1080 on ultra and am getting 111 fps, other than that would like to see gaming power draw.

Now that I've watched again quickly: Any idea why the Zen 4 CPUs are slower than Zen 3 in Rainbow Six Extraction? I would've guessed perhaps higher latencies of DDR5 that the game doesn't like, but apparently the 12900K does fine with that..

Even with productivity what kind of work load would require this much CPU power? Most 9-5 office workers won't need anything like this. I am thinking maybe people who video editing, quant analysts, streamers etc. I got a Ryzen 5 3600 and I am happy with it. My work laptop has like an Intel i5 in which pretty crappy but does 98% of the stuff I need it to do.

With these new Ryzen running so hot I guess you either undervolt or liquid cool for the sake of avoiding a toasty case. Also now that the 4090 is 4 slots or more in actively thinking I to buying a liquid cooled version to save on space. My poor NR200P won't be big enough for this new rig though.

At 65 W (88 real), this CPU roughly matches the 5950X at 105 W (142 real). That is quite impressive. But the 13900K is supposed to be very close and much cheaper. And it will work with cheaper 600-series boards and even DDR4, if you want to keep your current kit for now.

Would like to see power consumption comparisons while gaming - I get the feeling that Intel would be using more power than AMD in those situations to deliver the same frame rates

ThirdLife86
ThirdLife86 - 29.09.2022 07:44

The problem with all the data from all reviews is the difference in Power Consumption between the new CPU and the older one. If i use Auto Curve Optimizer on my 5950x and run it at a 230W PPT i am getting a CBR23 Score of 30657 while still being at only 65-67C (Custom Loop). There is a lot of headroom left thermally to the 95C of Zen4 and only AMDs Silicon FIT limits it to 4625Mhz Allcore on my system.

So the numbers are not as impressive as they seem at first glance. Still noticeably better, yes, but only by 20-25% and not those huge numbers seen in reviews and AMDs presentation. I am more impressed by the SC numbers which will have more effect in day to day standard tasks and can not be raised as much with Zen 3 CO and OCing.

Also i am very annoyed by how AMD designed the Heatspreader and the AM5 platform for semi-backwards compatibility which results in those super high temps. See der8auers Vid with a delidded 7950x losing 20C instantly. If i have to get an all new platform that expensive a new cooler or waterblock is no issue at all. Massively idiotic by AMD doing this and therefore performance limiting ALL new CPUs and raising temps which now needs any performance enthusiast to go to extreme measures for having decent OC results and/or temps.

Please next time just integrate all of the CPU reviews into one video because there is zero need to stretch the 7000 series reviews out over multiple samey and overly long videos.

running ddr5-6400 is cheating....and I'm typing this from a 6200mhz 12900k, those memory variations make comparisons useless as ddr5 cares about clock waaaaay more than latency
btw borderlands 3-tiny tina benchmarks you can all throw in the trashbin the ingame benchmarks does not represent reality, with both a 5950x and 12900k my fps ingame in 1080p are between 220-350fps not 160 or 170 and i'm talking above the max settings with manually maxed options..not on "high" lol who plays on high with a 3090 >< all those ingame benchmarks stopped working with rtx 3000 and rx 6000 they show compressed low variations results vs ingame unlimited fps no vsync framerate
