He confessed to murder: Jamie Foxx said, “We know you did it.” Clyde said, “It’s not what you know …” that is a confession. Unless it was not recorded, then yes.

Yup....one of my favorite movies of this genre. Too bad the ending requires you to suspend an unreasonable amount of disbelief. We're led to believe that some rando prosecutor outwits this supposed extreme tactical thinker who plans every moving part over what.....10 years? I mean he dug into EVERY FUCKING solitary cell in the prison and created an escape hatch.....smdh.

The only way I could make the ending "make sense" is thinking Clyde wanted to die. He would 100% know how to disarm the bomb that HE FUCKING CREATED......I mean....c'mon.

Before this movie, I was of the firm belief that an ending couldn't ruin the entirety of a movie.......I changed my mind.

In a movie that embodies incredulity, the fact that Foxx's character walks away thinking he has a confession actually stands out.

And then Jamie Foxx had to whine to change the ending to his liking and ruin the movie.

Man,the ending was so disappointing.

This scene is a classic case of the term "Counter Intuitive". 1) The supposed prosecutor agrees with him or he is just disarming him, public prosecutors have the decision whether or not to prosecute someone so why would you cheer for the guy you will prosecute? Its like Ted Bundy complementing a woman before he disembowels them, its that sick. 2) Who the F........ cares? Not only does the prosecutor does not have enough evidence but this should be at the bottom of his to do list. Imagine if Hitler was still alive today and a civilian purposely kills him, would you care more about arresting the citizen or would you care more that Hitler is dead?

pretty shitty prosecutor if he didn’t seriously acknowledge immediately that none of those statements were admissions of guilt.

I read that initially the production wanted Gerard Butler & Jamie Fox to play in opposite roles of what they ended up going with. That thought just seems so odd to me 😂

This movie was highly entertaining, but had some serious flaws, mainly due to jamie foxx's character. They had him do a detective's work as the prosecutor. I was shouting at my tv many times like "he's not a detective, why is he there??".
It was clear they did it to give jamie foxx more screen time, but they threw logic out of the window with that decision. Also the ending sucked and made no sense either, apparently Butler's character was supposed to win but it was changed because jamie foxx insisted his character should win in the end. The writers are there for a reason, and sometimes the actors need to keep their mouths shut...

In reality considering was so respected in the CIA as a brain i doubt very much they would have ever seen court, found taken and tortured by clive to death would have been what happened without a shred of paper work and clive would have continued to work for them after therapy and time through loyalty

If Nick did his job in the beginning, none of the following events would have happened. All Clyde wanted was his day in court, winning or losing was immaterial to him. So, when you drill down on it, Nick was responsible for every death that occurred in the story.
