RX 6650 XT vs RTX 4060 in 2024! The Ultimate Comparison!!!

in my country the 6650xt and 4060 had a price difference of just 20usd so i did grab the 4060(my previous gpu was a 1050ti) but i wished nvidia made this card a bit faster or atleast gave us more Vram like they did in the 3060

ghost of tushima has memory leak issues with amd cards i think, as i have been experiencing the same thing, game runs fine for 60 min then suddenly drops to 10 fps and eventually game crashes and i get a popup something saying "not enough memory" or something similar

My aging GTX 1080 can no longer overclock (or run at stock speed either), but at an underclock of 1609mhz I can still play all the newest games.
I played Ghost Of Tsushima, Lies Of P, Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, XDefiant and the Elden Ring DLC.
No need to upgrade yet.

what’s up guys i’m getting a pc for christmas, which of these graphics card is better? il read out the specs i’ve chosen so far, corsair 4000D airflow +RM750, ryzen 5 5600x, 32gb ram, probably around 1tb storage, then the gpu is what i’m struggling with, the pc will be used mainly for games

6700xt in same price range with 4060, who in clear mind will choose 4060?

Nah, if you live in 3rd country. In my country there is no official distribution amd/nvidia. 6650 is almost the same price as the launching price.. stores don't want to lose money. so 4060 is much cheaper than 6650.

why not comparing ml dl etc with cuda core vs no cuda core

6650xt is more worth it because the games it had worse performance and stutters can easily be fixed by DISABLING SAM, yeah thats the fix, simple as that...

Like so it gets to the top and ppl can fix their fps.

The explanation is simple, SAM does increase performance in some games, forza Horizon in specific it increases by a lot, buuuuttt it also drastically increase vram usage, i had cases were i had +3 to 4 gb vram usage increase just enabling SAM...

Whats worse is, even if it sometimes show 6-7gb vram usage it is somehow still using RAM as vram (seeing by the increase in RAM usage, i tested it myself and it also show in his video), and let me tell u never want to use ram as vram 😅.

Basically games were SAM works or u have rly good vram headroom, its good have it enabled but if u have a gpu with 8gb vram just disable it and forget about it.
Dont have a 16gb vram gpu to test but i suspect it wont suffer as much as 8gb ones, u guys can try it tho.

Oh and a bonus is that ur cpu will likely run cooler 👍🏻

I think the 4060 was a clear winner here...
I was actually surprised how well it did with 1440P if u drop the setting 1 step from max and use dlss Q.

Those that have swayed by brand/marketing and the former glory of Nvidia have no idea how awful the 4060 actually is. AMD has always been gpus for gamers with a few options for higher workloads. AMD has never tried to pretend to be the ultimate streamer/gamer/heavy workload GPU.

The 4060 is a 4050 in all regards and priced far to high for having useless gimmicks like "RT" that is cannot even utilise, at all.

I have no opinion about the 6650xt really as it has never tried to be anything it isn't and has been solid for it's buyers, but I wouldn't even use the 4060 for a doorstop. Nvidia had a few great generations, the 20 series and 40 series are not it. What a massive missed opportunity to scrap the 4060 while making the 4070 the £300 4060 instead also overcharging by double for the 4070 that should have been the 4060.

8gb of vram is having trouble when it comes to "modern" games. If you ever want to play them, that is.

I personally buy used RX 6600 non XT at $126 and Used Ryzen 5 5500 at $81, now playing Wukong at FHD - FSR on - Frame Gen on 100% - Graph High - RT off, get 48 - 50 Fps smooth. Happy with my setup. RX 6600 also low watt.

I am not a fan of how difficult it has become to run games on high graphical settings using affordable hardware these days.

Back during the 10 series, you could buy a GTX 1060 6GB and you'd be set to run 99% of games on max graphics (1080p) that were out at the time and get well over 60fps, with higher end graphics cards only chasing even higher FPS or aiming at 2k/4k gaming.


Now it seems you literally need a 4070 Super or higher equivalent graphics card just to keep up at 1080p and a decent frame rate in the latest games for max graphics. By this rate, in 10 years you'll be needing a 8090TI just to run your 1080p games at 30fps

Bought an 6650XT, not here yet, it's just way too cheap for the value you get from it to not buy it and I am a budget gamer, it's on the upper section of my budget really, I think I will be happy.

very good comparison, i've been struggling to decide between those cards recently. it would be nice if you included a racing game in these tests, as that is mainly what i play. forza horizon 4 has a benchmark test, and im pretty sure asseto corsa has one too

@DanielOwenTech its confirmed that its the pcie 8 lanes 6650xt versus the pcie 16lanes, that cause the 6650xt to suffer in 2k and 4k resolutions.

Its not that the ram spills over. The lanes are bottlenecked causing the 6650xt to use higher levels of memory that will cycle out ms slower than the rtx 4060.

The bottom line is NVIDIA GPUs are superior for gaming simlly because the game aitomatically utilize the cuda cores built directly into the card.

The performance boost people keep touting us because the AMD card isnt tsking advantage if the specific parts of theprogramming code needed to properly run the game at full potential because it cant use the cuda cores.

The work around fir AMD doesnt evrn come close to the PhysX and requires additional software which further detracts from the games proper performance.

AMD will never come close to replicating the same programming aspects of the cuda cores.

In short games only run properly when using the PhysX and intel processors. Its why every problem in a game gets a paych which explicitly addresses problems involving AMD never intel and NVIDIA there is always anAMD component involved in problems in games..always

As rock challenger is just awsom card, no overheating issues, has great cooling 👍 only downside with both of these cards is vram. 7600xt is now also available with 16gb vram that is nice budget version also.

The RX 6650 XT is an absolute steal for the price if you're playing at 1080p

Mini itx 4060 from Palit is 20 percent more expensive, while the regular version is 35 percent more expensive in my country. All in all, the difference is often less than 20 percent, and if ray tracing is totally irrelevant to me, the money is well spent on the 6650xt.

Mmmmm i thinking of buying one of These Cards... I will only use IT replace my rtx 2060 to Stream Games on my Steam Deck in 800p locked 60 FPS , the 6650 60 -70 bucks less so in my country. So i think its a clear Winner here

There's also the fact that Radeon cards have much less overhead than Nvidia with older or lower-end CPUs. Of course, you can't really see it here given that he tested with a 7800X3D, but on something like a 10th gen Intel CPU the 6650 XT would probably pull ahead in a lot of the tests.

Of course, the 6650 XT is awful at ray-tracing but given that this is a budget 1080p card it's not like you'd want to use it anyway.

I agree 4060 is better, tried both and sent the other back, 4060 was on sale being $10 difference it was a clear choice.

In My Country 6650xt is expensive and at similar price sometimes so went with 4060
