A Subnautica 3 Dev made me Wait to Show you This! - Reveal of the 3000km Deep Void Spike Leviathan

Edit: I want to make it clear the Mod developer had no part of knowledge in any suspicion when it comes to tracing of any art, Even when i had initial concern the mod dev wasn't in my thoughts at all about it. We'll work with them to get a re-design going :)

The last thing I expected after finding actual planned content / DLC for the next Subnautica was a speculative RELEASE DATE!! I actually had to wait for a dev to verify if what i found was actually meant to be public or supposed to be private, This is so insane i almost forgot the Void spike leviathan is also finally shown in this video! As always give me your thoughts, It's been a long time since we've spoken about Subnautica, I honestly hope they do add cosmetics if it is a planned feature for the next SN

More 'expansive' maps almost certainly means 'LARGER' maps. Expansive does not mean 'expansion'. If I had to guess they want to include some truly massive showstopper leviathans wherein the current subnautica games just didn't have zones that were large enough to accommodate this without the leviathans bungling into the map.

You need less than 10% similarity in literature to avoid plagarism. I'm pretty sure there's something similar too with art.
The design may not have been traced, but they are like 95% similar.
The 2 options I see: Focus on making the leviathan much more different OR contact the guy who made the Abyssal Dragon and get them to join in.

EDIT: Subnautica was released in January 2018 and Below Zero in May 2021. Only 3 years and 3 months apart. It's already been over 2 years and Subnautica 3 is planned to release in another 2 or 3 years.
That may seem like a gam dev no-no, but considering how quickly they were able to make BZ, and the fact they are giving themselves more time, and have a bigger budget, it's a surprisingly realistic timeframe.
I mean, it took Nintendo 6 years to make ToTK, which has a significantly bigger map, over a thousand side-quests, more cutscenes and more dialogue.
Unknown Worlds is smaller, true, but the game they're trying to make is also significantly smaller, and they've already had enough time to plan out the story, dialogue and whatnot. Their Dev Diary should be mostly complete. all that remains is actually making the game, fleshing out the skinny bits, filling the holes and then bug testing and patching. So they (should) know what they're doing, they just need to do it

Subnactica 3 will hopefully come out mid 2024 for early acess then late it would come to pc and consle. The void spike lev look great but i think that picking up more simalaratis from the below zero would fit.

really hope they make the 3rd in same style as the first one just with bigger and deeper oceans .
below zero just feels wrong and dont have the same atmosphere when playing.
it NEED to be pure terror where 99% of what you do is in the water.

subnautica 3 should have the beautiful biomes we had in below zero and 1, but be more interactive yeah? like a plant species in a deep biome that hides when light is shined on it, or a big flower that uses a big shining bulb that looks like creepvine seeds to lure fish into it

Ik im a bit late to this video, but I just realized when they say more expansive maps it could be in subnautica 3 you are traveling between planets, because in one of your earlier videos something was mentioned about a dev talking about exploring multiple worlds with friends.

I’d say redo the model from suspected tracing, in Magic: the Gathering, a card got the company in trouble because the artist of the Strixhaven archive card Crux of Fate used a piece of art so similar to one on deviantart that the artist complained, showed how little difference there was (an arm and mouth move) that it was a problem.

You mean an absolute hard Leviathan to draw the gargantuan Leviathan is way more easier to draw 100 percent more easier

I dont mean to be rude but i think this unknown horror of a leviathan this giant we should fear is....not that scary honeslty and a bit too similliar to everything else weve seen. My idea would be the thing we havent seen before. A Kraken a massive octopus/squid imagine floating infront of the massive thing in your submarine as its goat like pupils stare at and perhaps a third eye or something opens to shine a light directly at you. To me seeing a thing like that after hearing "its...underneath" would be much scarier then the dragon design.

Since its eyes are on the sides of its eyes that means something was hunting it so if the developers were aiming for that then i hope we get a bigger leviathan that hunts these leviathans for food

I think we should continue with the current "traced" design BUT divert all credit for the design to the original image that it looks traced from, bc the current design does look super fuckin cool but the original artist is the one that should get the credit for it, not the artist that copied it.

It’s definitely traced. When you showed that I literally paused for a second because I was so confused, I had used that very image in a TTRPG horror game years ago.

The concept art looks too realistic honestly i think a lot of the charm of subnautica is the art style

Honestly i grew up around the time below zero was in early access and i love watching people play the first subnautica so whatever subnautica 3 will be i will support and buy it bc it holds a special place in my heart♥

I really hope that Subnautica 3 has a similar kind of open beta testing to the original, because that's what made it so good. People saw massive background objects and tried to go to them, so we got the Aurora. People were terrified by the passive reefback, so we got the Reaper. As well as that, a significant amount of bugs were fixed due to open beta testing. Maybe we could get a free demo which just lets you explore the starting area. I'm just really excited for Subnautica 3.

When someone says that the leviathan uses emps for prey or threats it makes me wonder what does it consider a threat? Something bigger?

If I had to guess, none of these predictions are correct. I guess I could see a DLC adding new maps, but I assume that extra S was just to get the idea of an expanded world across and not a hint of any kind. Also, the word “augmented” is not in any way, shape, or form a synonym for “augmented reality.” The word “augmented” simply means that things have been added on or improved, so this most likely means that the game will have improvements over the previous two (obviously.)

So the only real details I would say we’re getting about the game from this is that it does indeed exist and might be getting DLC.
