The crucial 16 gb Amazon link is not correct. It's DDR4. Not 3.

I know this video is a few years old, but the Timetec 8 GB (2nd link from the top of the list) is not the same physical size. Its a little bigger and the notch does not line up.

Hello happy day, I have a 1019+ that I use for video editing. would making the memory change to 16 GB help me improve performance?
I connect it via QNAP USB adapters to get 5GbE.
Thank you for your comments and if you have any suggestions to increase the performance of the equipment, it will be well received.

Very helpful. It's actually surprisingly easy. Thought it would be a lot more fiddly.

my 1019+ didn't recognize the Crucial memory you recommended. what the heck. Update> Checked the memory and one had not locked in place properly. It was reading only one of the two 8gb sticks. Now up and running 16gigs of ram on the DS1019+

Would not the max RAM supported be limited by the motherboard and not by software? If Synology should limit how much RAM you could use on their system by software ... it would be kinda strange.

HI! Awesome Channel ! and great video on upgrading the RAM on the 1019+.
I installed Plex on my Synology DS1019+ NAS and would like to back-up my "Plex Media Server Data" It was easy to find on my windows 7 computer, but now that it's setup on the NAS I can't seem to find it . I Have 700+ .MKV movies files all with custom metadata and would hate to have to re-edit each movie file.
Any help would be appreciated. Harry

Can you swap out the ram after your NAS has already been set up or does it need to be done at the initial install?

I just started my initial file transfer to the 2419+. It only came with 4GB of ram, and I was curious if you thought the transfer speed would increase if I upgraded the ram to 16gb. It's currently saying it's going to take around 5 days to transfer 7TB worth of data.

Well, you did similiar also for DS918+, but must be said, its really not reliable. Lot of people (including me) had stability issues with such configurations. Sometimes it works, sometimes not, sometimes it works, but with ad-hoc issues.

Very strange that Synology did not make official statement that it supports up to 16GB. Have you tried with 2x16GB?
