You seem very legit. I like your videos dude!
Ответить8BIT 420 is not good for LOG file
ОтветитьSounds good to me. I've never used vlog. I just tweak what I get out of camera.
ОтветитьI'm not a GH5 or Lumix uses, but I experience the same thing with my Fujifilm X-T3. Shooting F-log gave me the same or even worse looking footage then shooting in a tweaked Eterna picture profile. I would say though, since I got the X-H2S with the new F-log2 LUT, shooting in LOG starts to actually give benefits, since it gives so much more dynamic range than normal F-log or tweaked Eterna.
ОтветитьWow, just saved me £700. I was considering the X2 for low light, but now knowing it has poor low light is a deal breaker for me.
ОтветитьI was about to buy that vlog for my gh5, thanks man you saved my £70. Your opinion is really worthy for me
ОтветитьI've been using cine for years... It's all I use since I switched from canon to Panasonic. You are 100% spot on about the detail in the shadows. V log is too far from the finish line and is two much hassle.
ОтветитьThank you
Ответитьok my main realization is that I think vlog is for a full spectrum of dynamic range, where similar to Cine D vs Cine V, one profile is denser in the middle where the real colors are, and for this reason I’m thinking HLG may be the way to go, if not Cine V since yea, you just get way more colors that actually matter
ОтветитьDo you think CineD is better than Natural? I agree with you, V-Log seems like more work than I want to do or have the time..
Ответитьthank you ! short and straight to the point
ОтветитьAt least you know you’re stuff. V-log has a purpose and true, it’s not meant for everyone. I shot my first film with a GH5 and BMPCC4K called “JULIE’S CONFESSION” it’s free on TUBI TV. The introduction and outro was shot entirely on the GH5 with V-log to give me the look I was going for. There’s a reason why there are different color profiles and each one has an end. It’s all about knowing beforehand which one to use. Good video.
Ответитьv-log is very nice in 10bit, but on the gh5 you only get 10bit with 24p in 24p. If you use 60fps to 24fps you only get 8bit and the colors will break up, even with a regular rec709 conversion lut. Weird banding and other shenanigans. Cine-D is my go to because I use 60 to 24 A LOT
ОтветитьThanks for the insight bozo! Being on the road, time is limited.
Ответитьthanks, i was thinking the same, now i know to not be mad
Ответитьmy v-log looks like crap. It seems like a big hassle. anyway. I'm going to subscribe to your channel.
ОтветитьDo you have any idea why I might have noise issues with my GH5 Cine D footage? It’s not underexposed and my ISO is only 200.
ОтветитьHLG is best in terms of dynamic range and noise. Period.
ОтветитьIn Da Vinci you can set the v-log curve as default on all clips. Zero hassle and if you want to change exposure in post, you can select the conversion from v-log to be added after your effects. Only downside is if you nest timelines, it will do double grading. I don't really consider it grading, more auto-convert back to standard colors but with more options for exposure correction, take back highlights etc.
ОтветитьIt’s true, what you say 👍
Ответитьgoat
ОтветитьWhat about HLG? It seems it's the best profile in GH5.
Ответитьnice idea, I experiment a lot with the photo styles on my g100, cine d has been easier to work with imo but I think I will always experiment with the settings of each photo style.
Ответитьvlog actually does capture best in low light. A lot of people are afraid of log footage for that reason they just dont want to deal with learning how to do so . and when you dont really know how you cant see a huge difference. shooting on the s5
ОтветитьI couldn't find the link to your CineD profile video.
ОтветитьWhat about HLG?
ОтветитьFor freelance event and corporate work definitely CineD is perfect. For larger shoots such as shorts, commercial films and music videos VLog L i feel is best.
ОтветитьAbsolutely agree...
ОтветитьAgree, have the VLOG upgrade, but have still preferred Natural for most work unless very contrasty sunny day. Will have a look at the CineD profile.
ОтветитьThanks for your thoughts:)
ОтветитьFor most "information sharing/learning" videos ...being content based...educational..transfering worthwhile information to another person ...getting it right within camera with settings is suffecent.. clear bright good quality images with some degree of "polish" helps ....this easy to film simple documentary is you tube bread and butter...e.g forestry forest..he started with Lumix LX 100...years later same formula...high view numbers = income ...if that's what is wanted ...otherwise it's suffering for Art...
ОтветитьI agree with you, you can create more new videos with the time that you spend color grading. Cheers!
ОтветитьAgree with your assessment.
ОтветитьEver used portrait mode? I love cine d except for what it does to skin tones, and I learned from wolfcrow that portrait mode has beautiful skin tones. Been using that ever since
ОтветитьThanks for keeping it real.
ОтветитьFantastic points, thank you!
ОтветитьI shoot mainly in V-log with my gh5s for three reasons :
- dynamic range is way higher
-I like to color al my clips ( but that’s a personal preference )
- And last but not least it can give me the cleanest image in low light ( if exposed well ) cause its dual native iso is the highest among all profiles.
Thanks for sharing your opinion Ryan, I love your channel🤙🏾🔥
I film in cineV. When it comes to concert footage in not going to color grade with all the changing lights and colors. I enjoy how the shadows contrast with the stage lights.
ОтветитьYeah customized cine d it's more than enough
ОтветитьWhen you say low light, how low do you mean?
ОтветитьInteresting. Also there is new possibilities if using Ninja V..
ОтветитьSame ideas for my current workflow, I ditched shooting log because it's not worth all those hassle, as long as the exposure was set properly, the rest will be fine.
ОтветитьLove the honesty! Thanks a lot mate, you’ve confirmed exactly what I suspected ever since I bought my first GH4, and now that I’ve had three more GH5 bodies with still no VLOG, you’ve genuinely just nailed my long-held suspicion. That said, I’ve never tried using Cine D in low light, so I really appreciate that tip, I’ll be trying that one out this weekend 👍🏻😁
ОтветитьI tried Vlog on the S5 and compared it to CineD and the difference was night and day. So much more dynamic range and better colour science, never wanna shoot in anything else haha
ОтветитьYou are so right Ryan, I'm a filmmaker, but its takes so long to colour grade each clip, I use V-Log, Natural profile. I will take a look at Cine-D for low light, thanks for that tip!
