I hope you all enjoyed the video, feel free to leave any questions in the comments and I'll make sure I get to them!
ОтветитьBeen wondering how diffucult it would be to do myself. I moved into a place 2 years ago and every single wall has wallpaper...I removed it in my daughters room and the condition of the walls underneath showed. Doubt it's anything I will be doing soon..PVA mix first coat simple enough..2mm first plaster coat then another 1mm with more care. Then the Trowling up 1st 2nd then cross. Man that's informative but yeah, a lot of hard work goes into that. My weak ass shoulders would be crying for weeks haha! May give it a go one day always been curious of how it'd turn out. Excellent video and very informative.
ОтветитьI've never done this in my life but after watching this am definitely gonna give it a go on a stud wall that I will be building very shortly! I only hope that I can make my look 10% as good as yours! Thanks for showing us how you do it!
ОтветитьWow!! You're very talented! I'd like to skim coat a wall but don't think I'd do as great a job as you! That was impressive!!
ОтветитьTake a 4 year apprenticeship and have a grumpy tradesman at your back constantly asking if you are "happy to leave that wall like that" .... That's how you learn to plaster a wall
ОтветитьYou did a beautiful job
ОтветитьI'm an electrician of 18 years and would say that i have the biggest appreciation for the plastering trade aside from my own. There's no hiding your work at all. Fascinating stuff.
ОтветитьExcellent tutorial, much easier when you know what to do! Thanks
ОтветитьHey Ryan,
What type of plaster do you need to use for a wall like this? I have the exact same.
Thanks!
James
Do you paint right over the finished wall?
ОтветитьWow! Impressive! Been watching videos for weeks now trying to be prepared for my first wall as prep for wall paper. My wall has such drastic gaps I think I’ll need to apply heavy in certain areas first then shimmy up to level out then the wall is ready to start. My question is: is it easier to just plaster the wall like you’ve done or use a light weight joint compound (regular weight for first two coats) as final 2 skims? Is plaster easier to work with? You made it look so much easier than joint compound! Also, if I use plaster, will it be okay if I’m putting up wall paper?? Also, big question… if I were to use light weight joint compound can I apply the same principles that you used the way you kept working the wall after certain amount of time with water splashes to make a true flat surface??? If joint compound is used what compound brand and name would you recommend??
Thank you so much for showing us your flawless technique! Fully satisfying to watch!! ❤
No offence bro but u never need to cross trowel as u call it as long as it is done correct!been a plasterer for 25 years!no having a pop just saying pal
ОтветитьGreat Video 👍
ОтветитьTop man 👍
ОтветитьThis looks impossible,you are super.😢
ОтветитьWhy should I start from left if I want from right.... I ve done many walls in Romania which is much more better than what you're doing in UK...
ОтветитьYou are a pro, bro!
ОтветитьBrilliant tutorial! I'm looking for a plasterer. Please come do my home.
ОтветитьTy for the insane step by step without skipping instructions or sudden jumping to product then slapping it on without explanation of what you’re using. Ty for being you.
ОтветитьThe wall skimming is Walden media
journey 2
man what plaster allows you to make changes to it 2 3 4 hours after its done xD mine is just set and done in 2 h (Knauf Rotband), you'd ruin it if you tried to re-trowel, also most places arent this even. But it takes ALOT of precision and focus to make a clean fresh even wall, thanks for the video. My advice for new ppl is to never bite more than you can chew. Better small area to perfection, than a large area fuk up. <3
ОтветитьAmazing tutorial. Thank you for sharing this, I’m completely new to renovating / decorating so this was super helpful. Loved the slow motion “x- rated clips! 😂😂
ОтветитьWhy is it colored? Not white? Mean... There is a skim coat that has color?
ОтветитьHow I wish I can do this as smooth as what you did.
ОтветитьThis is just perfection omg 😳
ОтветитьAwesome thanks for showing that. How would you go about repairing cracks in a roof with the same old style plaster? Any tips would be appreciated. Cheers
ОтветитьGet a spray bottle for even water mist spraying on wall.
ОтветитьAfter the 2nd coat it was just a polish up lol
ОтветитьJust love the slow mo creamy mix- could you make a long vid just of that? 😁
ОтветитьBeautiful job 👍 mate
If i ever come back to the UK I call you to do my house 😊
Excellent performance . The first ever plastering video where precise times at certain stages of plastering are helpfully mentioned. Thank you.
ОтветитьWhy people in uk not removing skirting board and architrave before skimming wals?
ОтветитьSo how long do you wait between coats? And how did you get your 1st coat so smooth.
The 3 timings were a little confusing.
Thanks
Who done a good job after watching this for first time plastering?
ОтветитьWhat kind of mud would you recommend for use onrough walls that has stubborn old wallpaper and paint bits?
ОтветитьI trained for about 18 months in 1990 at Lincoln college on a yts. Had a serious car accident, so wss unable to continue...so i went down a different career path...sat behind a desk in the public sector..
Anyway, i ended up self buildind, and had to pick up a trowel, after 30 years, a skill i thought id lost, was still there but a tad slower..
Thanks for the excellent video
Quick question, was the wall already applied with a bonding layer before applying the PVA ?
ОтветитьShould you mix pva with plaster when mixing with water ?
ОтветитьIts a art
ОтветитьLike 10 seconds in and you lost me; the fuck is pva?
Ответитьindon buat kemas lagi bro
Ответитьbuat elok sikit
Ответитьbrilliant that mate. Thanks
ОтветитьSo can I confirm that I shouldn't need to pva on top of my dot n dab plasterboard before skimming it? Just want to make sure
Ответитьthat looks like hell to do 😅
ОтветитьLooks easy but is not in real-life
ОтветитьHow much prep do you need to do before the primer? Say you are going over paint and you dont know how well its bonded, what precautions do you take? (Most painting is done by homeowners with the worst prep possible.)
ОтветитьThat's a form of art and takes a lot of time, can someone please invent something like that in a Can
ОтветитьGreat job, very clean finish. You sound just like Jon Richardson.
ОтветитьYou made this look so easy. I wonder if I can do this as a regular civilian who has never DIY’d in her life 😂
