Hi, why does the bit holder swing a lot with the Dewalt DCF887N screwdriver? Do you recommend any model of small Dewalt impact wrench that does not have this defect? Thank you

You can get the DCF840 with the bag and charger and a 2.0 battery for $99 or a different kit with (2) 1.3 amp batteries.

I have the 887, but my fav is still the old brushed 885... I just did about 100 sq foot of deck repair, had some help so we traded off both the 887 and 885 and agreed we preferred the old brushed version. I do love the controllable variable speed on the old 885.

This video helped me make my decision. I went with the 840

For smaller fasteners where there is less torque required to overcome the forces preventing the screw from driving the higher IPM will win as every impact is moving the screw enough that the faster impacts take the lead on the slower impacts even though said faster impacts have less energy per impact. The 850 retakes the lead on very large thick fasteners because it’s hammer has a lot more energy behind each impact. So even though it’s turning the screw less times per minute than the 840, each turn of the 850 is so much greater than each turn of the 840 that it can drive the fastener quicker still with less impacts

After getting my tools stolen and replacing everything with a little bit different overall kit I truly believe that the 850/840 combo is the best impact driver combo you could carry every day at work. Get a subcompact xr drill driver, hammer drill, and the atomic sds and you’re absolutely kitted out for most jobs. I much prefer that combo to my old 850/887 combo… the 887 just punches too similar to the 850 but with the longer body. Not much of an advantage having both. But the 840 makes for an extremely comfortable and light but still capable 20v secondary for doing jobs where you will be using the driver on many small repeated tasks

JFC, are you kidding me? Holy s**t, how annoying! I flipped onto this to hopefully learn something, instead, WWF noise and gesturing. ,Cut the crappy music, try to keep your arms still, lower your voice because you don't have to yell, and say and do something that's useful.

New 850 box says, delivers 21% more torque =1700 in-lbs. BUT that is only 189 Nm. The 887 delivers 205 Nm …How’s that MORE? Please explain. Why not tun them against the old 887. The two things that matter are 1) the speed in driving small to medium fastners and 2) the capability to bury the biggest Lag bolts. All the statistics gumf means nothing in the practical tests.

I know this is a year old, I wish I could see these with adapters taking 100 lb-ft lug nuts off 🤷‍♂️

I love my 840, I guess Dewalt doesn't promote it because it's pushing its more expensive offerings instead

The low 1.3 ah is ok when I am crawling under a house for a diagnostic call.

I'm amazed the screw didn't break at usually happens. Maybe the trick is to not torque so much, but 'hit-it' more.

840 is for a pro not a novice.......

Picked up this exact kit at Lowes on BF. Seen online on different sources that you shouldn’t run higher AH batteries than what was supplied. Seen you had 5 AH in the 840, would running bigger batteries have any negative effect long term? So far loving the 840. I’m just a home DIY’r

So, you guys know that when driving drywall fasteners that IPM's don't come into play, right? You put that 850 on 3 speed and it will blow right past that 840

I run my impacts hard every day. Picked up the 850 last winter and it's been a BEAST in a short package

They have that impact paired up with a bag and 1 power stack battery. I took a chance on the hammer drill to try the power stack and for all plastic it's surprised me so far. But I never heard of it before either lol

There’s a reason it’s a one speed 99 dollar impact lol. I’ve heard they over heat. I’ve had my atomic for over a year, use it everyday and never had a single issue with it over heating or bogging out

When is Dewalt going to release a new design 20v Max XR impact driver.
It’s time to do it, to compete with the new Milwaukee Gen 4.
I would love if it had the same design as the Atomic 850, but more powerful and a bit longer, but a bit skinnier.

All i gotta say is I WANT THAT ORANGE hoodie! Ever since i bought my dewalt set decades ago i just knew i had to match them with something of equal or greater value.....well today that value has been matched. Over 10 years of use and my dewalts are still kicking,. Yet I still have nothing that matches the epic safety and satisfaction of that hoodie. Please do a give away!

Just bought the 840 and battery does not hold a charge. It did drive a 8inch l at screw nicely, but charge didn't last long and it took hours to charge it and then didn't fully charge.
