Again, great video..
I just wanted to make a comment about her comment about arrogant white folks in the country. My friend who was working there that I visited when I first went to Hanoi was in the international development domain. I was honestly a little shocked at some of the comments I heard from a friend of hers who apparently thought very little of the people and culture he was there to help. I don't think any but one of the white folks I met there actually took the time to learn the language despite being there for several years. What a loss for them I suppose.
Fantastic! I really enjoyed the open and honest interview here. You asked her great questions that got great insight from her. I share her view that life in Vietnam is wonderful and My wife is Vietnamese from Hanoi and I'm a bit of a mix.. born in the Caribbean, grew up in Canada and now working in the US.. But although I have a great job, I really don't want to stay here.
I met my wife there while visiting an old friend and we have been back to Vietnam many times over the last 10 years. We both want to move to Vietnam with our two kids in the near future but I am still trying to figure out what I would do there. I had a conversation with someone at the Canadian embassy and he advised similarly that the best way to find a job is to be in the country. As a black man, I was really apprehensive at first but fell in love with the country and the people/culture and found the culture amazingly open and welcoming. Honestly, I have the best time and never felt freer than when in Vietnam.
This interview I think pushes me one step forward in formalizing plans to move there. At least I am familiar with the language and culture already. But not sure as a well educated black person what my options are if I am not working for a foreign entity. I guess I could start a business.. Seems like that is a thing. I would love to see you have someone talk more in depth about foreigners opening businesses in Vn if you haven't already developed that content. Thanks! :)

Mexican accent to Spanish accent is similar to Quebecois accent to French accent. That’s what I meant!
This guy is a low-key racist. Why does he single out white people; like black, brown and east Asians learn Vietnamese before arriving too? He continues to brand white people as 'privileged'. Bordering on hate speech
Ответитьyou should interview Esiri !!
ОтветитьYou can buy a house or rent an apartment in VN but always select your neighbors who think and act like yourself and not mingle with locals because it will cause you a lot of trouble by not understanding their habits and culture. And remember nobody will say bad things about you because you are coming to VN and making a good living as an English teacher than finding a job and “respect” in your own country.
ОтветитьChao em! i live in Vietnam...want to know if the teaching jobs gave you TR, are jobs for spanish teachers? cam on em!
ОтветитьShe is an awesome interviewee! Very interesting and full of awesome personality! Love her!
Ответитьwow, that's sucks for other colors.
ОтветитьYou should learn the language to respect and understand the culture/land.
ОтветитьI've been watching a lot of videos about moving to Thailand lately so I don't know how this got into my suggested videos haha, but I loved it! Looking forward to watching more of your videos, and Rebecca's content!
ОтветитьI am in afrika me l love Vietnam and I love how they hc rec deafened uSa
ОтветитьYou are a very good daughter and have a very independent character. May God guidance and protection be with you always.
ОтветитьGood interview. I enjoyed that.
ОтветитьDifference is black American vs black African is nationality matters as well
ОтветитьThailand changed mine. Vietnam too. Awesome country. I’m now in Japan- another top 5 place
ОтветитьI just love the Vietnamese people.
And the country. Especially up north.
She’s illegally overstaying and working. Ffs
ОтветитьI disagree with your point on white people in Canada/US telling others to go back to their country. 99% of people don't do that (it's the insecure radicals who are an extremely small minority). Just like there is the 1% of Vietnamese who are unhappy with foreigners living in their country.
ОтветитьHow much tax do these expats pay?
ОтветитьShe's genuine
ОтветитьYou don’t need to speak Vietnamese when you are in the country. The reason is people who don’t understand or speak English belong to the working class and it’s just fun for them that you try to speak to them in Vietnamese. However if you want to make a living in VN by teaching English you should play dumb and limit your Vietnamese speaking skill to a minimum because your students expect you to teach them and converse with them in English and not Vietnamese. May be I am wrong but Vietnamese who can afford to pay someone to teach them English are very “arrogant” and want to show off a lot and it’s not their fault because the media keeps telling them that VN is #1 and soon will surpass even Singapore. One typical example is when they won a soccer match vs Thailand they paraded in the streets, insulted the Thai’s players and partied all night to wake up drunk and go to work for a company owned by Thai’s business man.
Ответитьthis weak girl is lying... no teacher in sa get paid $400 in sa. i dont undestand why europen settlers badmouth our country
ОтветитьI will be retired in vietnam in the next 3 years....I am currently 41.. can't wait.. .great interview and love the girl personality...
ОтветитьChào Cô Gái Xinh Đẹp từ Hà Nội - Việt Nam..⚘⚘⚘& ❤❤❤ to You!!!
ОтветитьI meet a lot of South African English teachers where I live.
ОтветитьWow. American social security makes more than a teacher in South Africa?
ОтветитьThere is a difference between Black and White teacher, because many Vietnamese parents, old generation, still think that English native speakers are white.
ОтветитьShe called South Africa a western country!lol
ОтветитьYou may be a teacher, but what will you do for retirement?
ОтветитьHow easy is it to illegally work in Vietnam as a Viet Kieu? Do you have any experience or may know someone? Know anyone who got caught? And were they fined and/or deported? Unless you are a digital nomad, have a work permit, or have savings, I assume you would have to work illegally if you plan to live in Vietnam for several years.
Ответитьgreat interview!
ОтветитьNext interview: Bisko 😊
ОтветитьI am glad that she likes living in Vietnam. Hope she will be successful and happy there!
ОтветитьSo smart girl...by the way, she's cute..❤❤❤
ОтветитьHard for whites to live in South Africa nowadays. So, Vietnam is very welcoming and perfect for someone from South Africa.
ОтветитьHer ex is BISKO
ОтветитьFact is most Vietnamese idolize “white” or Caucasian. Not sure why though…maybe it’s due to previous colonialism?
ОтветитьWhat a superb interview to give viewers a glance into the life of a South African expats here. She is a giddy and brisk young fellow. Personally, I also know a South African teacher in Vietnam who escaped the mental torment of divorce which haunted him for years. Now he has married a Vietnamese woman and definitely loves his life.
ОтветитьNice decision to move to Vietnam.
ОтветитьOdd why would she want buy property in Vietnam
I hate to live in a city/country and I stick out like sore thumb . Odd looks and stares
I want look like the people and demographic in my city
Ofc they paid the black guy fairly
He’ll go ape on the media if they didn’t
These people want escape the hustle and hard work in their own city
That’s the new generation
I want the easier way in life and fly to low economy country
she should be honest...the best part of leaving south africa is never having to see many africans ever again...do u know how beautiful it is to wake up to no black people
ОтветитьI like the comment about being a native-speaking South African. Not all South Africans are native English speakers, it's a fact. The authorities and schools should check the grade 12 certificates of potential teachers. If the certificate has English as the first language, then in all probability, they are English-speaking. However, if it states any other language is the candidate's first language, in that case, they shouldn't be teaching English unless they have a degree with English as a major as they are definitely not native English speakers.
ОтветитьShe’s at an age where it’s shows her professionalism n growth, Việt Nam or any other country should be grateful to have people like her. She’s 100% right about the Whites that have a grudge against any race or nationality that they have zero knowledge of, the bad sound bites from their news media does not help. For 100yrs it’s been China this or Chinese that ,it’s sickening, the toxicity can’t be cure.
