Highlights, Balayage, Ombre or Sombre - Which is right for you?

This is the best explanation I’ve heard of this. As someone with fine but a lot of it hair the stylists that do a combination definitely get the result I’m looking for! The softness and the dimension 🎉

So the question is, “what part of the image of this style are you attracted to”? (No filters, no face/makeup/jewelry). As a stylist this is what I ask my clients and it helps both the client in the chair and myself understand the goal or the parts of the style that can work for them. : )

So many people hate on stylists without having a clue how hard the subject of hair ACTUALLY is, and how much schools FAIL to properly educate their students. It takes years of figuring it out ON OUR OWN just for everyone to say "It must be fun to play with hair all day" like it takes zero skill, or "I don't trust any stylist, they all suck." like they know everything themselves. Try getting through cosmetology school, and then see how you feel. I GUARANTEE everyone's tune would change.

Every time i ask the hairdresser for a balyage she dose highlights instead and i hate that because I am not good enough in English to understand why ! I have a very thick long hair and it take 3 hours to do my hair

You are honestly the best at explaining things! 😃 I want to go blonde or blonder at least. Now I have my virgin hair that have a honey blonde or light brown kind of color. Which I got bored of. I want m6 hair to be blonde but not all one color, with highlights! I really hope for the best - fingers crossed 🤞🙃

Oh boy, there is nothing natural about the aspect you hair has or the examples you show. That dark hair would NEVER reach that level of blond not even if your swam every day in highly chlorinated water and dryerd them in noon sunshine at the equator. Get a grip on file, just call it as it is v dyed hair, nothing natural about it. Just enjoy it without coming up with silly excuses for it

Is just so hard to make hairstyle with blonde hair I look like a total Barbie doll when I want to be a tomboy hair problems are really common for me

So I actually found this video AFTER having the balayage done because I wanted to check if I got what I wanted because it looks different than the pictures I've seen. And now I understand that I am the perfect example that you mention - I have a lot but thin hair and the pictures I've seen and loved are with thick hair. 😂 and what my hairdresser did is exactly what you say - she did balayage with highlights (she even mentioned them at the time and I was suprised then). Shortly, I am happy I found a good hairdresser who knows what she's doing and does what's best for me. But my initial ignorance, lol 🤣

I have thin hair and less hair, I’m wondering if you would recommend I get tape extensions prior to a balayage?

My hair has probably been dyed once or twice my whole life lol for the same reason as stated above

I understand extensions and bleach make your hair fall and thinner however I want to try something new 😩I need a change and I’m the type that will do this probably just once or twice in a blue moon so in wondering if you’d recommend I get the extensions prior to color to achieve a nice balayage blend ?

I have brown hair, of which I dye darker brown. But, I've also been blonde, of which I'm not opposed to doing again. I have had grays show up (of which I cover) for a long time. For now, it's just at the roots, but not all over. Which color technique would hide this better, and for a longer time?
