This looks so overwhelming to me. I'm studying languages as an unversity career and this includes Translation & interpretation as a subjetc. The simple fact that this is a difficult job makes me feel good and bad at the same time, but i'm looking up to seek for more challenges like this

It's such a "BRAINACHE" profession as I have joined an interpretation program Eng-Thai here in Bangkok. SI can make me feel like I have lost all my communication capability at the time the following sentences are spoken while I'm still struggling to interpret previous sentences.
When this happens, I began to lose sensible contexts and surrounding contents which I'm supposed to say it. Put simply, I can not sticth all main contents in one whole story in a smooth manner. Far cry even to think about it.
It's like my brain being squeezed and my mouth goes numb. Lastly, my trainee coleagues start to sympathize the moment I take up with.

As someone who constantly interprets in my family, being a translator or interpreter can be very stressful and hard. These interpreters are amazing👏! It’s very hard because when you are speaking a certain language you think in that language, sometimes you can forget the word you’re even trying to express in the different language, even though you know you’re completely fluent.

It's much harder to do that just learning both languages. Some languages put words in one order and some in other and some don't care, so I imagine it's not easy to translate the first language that essentially speaks backwards compared to the second.

Great video. Many interpreters get caught up in a “word by word” interpretation because it is sometimes taught when beginning this career. But with experience you learn that meaning is what really matters. That actually is the definition of interpretation.

What would an interpreter do if they didn’t know a specific word in the language, and had no idea what it meant?😊

I have interpreting as a subject in school English-German & French-German and it's hard.

There's no time to think and you have to say whatever comes to your mind first because the speaker will continue and you'll wont be able to catch up anymore.

I have so much respect for people who do that so well and professionally.
I feel like I'm on adrenaline the full the 10ish minutes I have to interpret

Is there Closed Caption in English available? It's not allowing me that option. It activates speech recognition in Portuguese, although the video is in English, and transcribes a weird transliteration of the sounds as if they're spoken in Portuguese. I hope it's available a CC version in English or a translation to Spanish, for I'd love to share it with friends who don't speak English.

would they throw something at you like this during an interview if you were applying for an interpreter job? particularly the second one with Katty, where you're going in cold without knowing anything about what they will be talking about?

its realy so challenge translating foreward and backward at the same time. I'm now english learner as to be a professional speaker and translator, therefore I always try to translate local language videos to process my language fluence so quickly. So, I tested the bitter energy-consuming reality of on spot language translation actually. every time I try to translate a 10-minute video I ended up loosing my energy more than double of what I've allocated and spending so much time to close the episode. However, I got what I intend I mean to become a professional speaker and confident man when it comes this language.

I would like to see how can you do a speed test in the Lithuanian language because the grammar is all backwords, compare to the English language, and before you render, you have to hear the full segment and only then interpret most of the time is not even possible to render word to word, because it doesn't make any sense, and I really " love" it when LEP and the client speak at the same time. I love my job, but sometimes could be so difficult, especially in the court, when LEP speaks in slang:, "jis paziurejo ir trenke man i snuki", translation" he looked and hit me in the muzzle", the judge got really confused: "what?!"Interpreter: "he just looked (at me? is not specified, needs clarification) and hit me in the face" and it's still isn't correct, because it could be punched or slapped and is the same word in Lithuanian "trenke", just like you can use the same word in a car crash,- "trenke", "atsitrenke", "sutrenke" and etc.

And this is shows that women , if its true, can be trained to interpret faster if not better.
