ОтветитьI would not listen to Josh idk why just don’t respect him.
ОтветитьWe got one life. I have 11 years in laborers union. 25 years in laborer union i can collect a pension. I'd be 48. Just left that for another union called surveyor operating engineering today because of this. My pension starts all over here but higher hourly pay, less physical demanding work just got to work longer than I wanted. I took the risk and I start tomorrow. You'll never know what's up til you try. Wish me luck. I prayed for this and it's here. hoping this was the right decision 🙏
ОтветитьPeople are passionate about their jobs? Where?
ОтветитьI went back to university
As a mature student and did radiography. Worst decision of my life, the people I work with in the NHS are absolutely horrible and love to see you fall. Not everyone is like this but management do not care whatsoever about your
Mental health it’s a total blame culture and I am desperate to get out of it for good
He needs to be grateful he has a job, I don't even have a job
ОтветитьWhat do you do if this happens to a 58 year old but you need to keep a job until you get a job...while you're at an age where ageism could ruin your chances of finding another job?
ОтветитьUSPS for sure haha
ОтветитьI’m 28 and used to feel the same way. The issue with everyone searching for passion in a job is that most of the jobs that run this country suck. I’m a mechanic and don’t love it but I like the people I work with and I like helping out friends and family with their cars. You have to find something you enjoy outside of work or volunteer to bring meaning and passion to your life.
ОтветитьI hope he didn't listen. People are dropping like flies in tech right now.
ОтветитьNaw. If he's a GS, he's pretty secure. They'll "fire" you but you'll be moved somewhere else. That's Civil Service. (I mean, unless you light up a joint at your desk. Then you get fired.)
I'm retired Air Force, and I've been a Defense Contractor for 18 years and I'm not passionate for it, but I don't look for it there. I look for it in my family, my church, my vacations, and my many hobbies.
That's always been my attitude. I'm getting paid, shaving is optional, and I'm not wearing a paper hat or a name tag.
Paid off house, fat IRA, military retirement, empty nest, no credit card debt, and retired at 63. Having twenty years in Civil Service gets you a retirement check and that's a mighty strong safety net. Slow and steady wins the race. Twenty years FLIES by, even at a boring job, if you get out of the cube and the house.
Find your passion somewhere else.
John, it's 3 yrs now since you made this call to Dave Ramsey...How is it going so far? What decision did u make and how did it turn out? (Am feeling like this right now and am in sales for a Telco)
ОтветитьI notice 2 years is when the burnout risk can come creeping up. I think all jobs have some kind of good fit people, which inherently involves some form of just not minding the work so much and perhaps a little passion here and there to keep the focus.
How's your sleep quality after 2 years at a job and is that job primarily waking you up in the night? Good sign to start hunting other roles. If it's harassment after 2 years, probably not a good fit or the company doesn't have good management - time to leap.
Our economy struggling with uncertainties, housing issues, foreclosures, global fluctuations, and pandemic aftermath, causing instability. Rising inflation, sluggish growth, and trade disruptions need urgent attention from all sectors to restore stability and stimulate growth.
ОтветитьWhat a terrible advice, dude, find the certifications that are needed to do consultancy job, apply like crazy to those roles, grind it for 3 to 5 years, get as much insides as how to run your business and either start your own contacting side hustle or join a bigger org as a technical lead in data
ОтветитьHe really does sound old as heck
ОтветитьLet say the job pays well, fuck it, investing and saving for 15 - 20 years have to be the goal to retire.
ОтветитьIt’s called work for a reason
ОтветитьHay fun fact many depression isnt depression it just you hate ur job and the more hours you work and the later in the day you work more likely you be depressed so why not just do what i do get anti depressed and take drugs ans you be happy for 90days and u be looking for a new job as u work happy weird but many do it
ОтветитьKnew a guy did a government job if I have to guess there 3 level what he does every year or half a year you get $1.50 raise once max out level 3 probably just $1 but more pto and he been there almost 3 years so he just got his last raise and now like NOW WHAT
ОтветитьPost office??? In the first 15 sec of the video.
ОтветитьHe should have stayed in the private sector and then gone federal. He would appreciate it way more.
ОтветитьThe government is the worst place to work for someone good at their job. You'll get saddled with all the work the shitbags don't do.
Ответитьget a loan and start what makes you happy - things i say to myself lol
Ответить"It's not what you do it's who you work with."
The young man needs to find someplace where he likes the people he works with and still "feels" secure, but that security is an illusion.
Complete understand what the guy is saying.. whenever I've had to do any government job seeing many of the people who work there you understand - there is a reason why they are here, cause they could not last even a week or a month in a competitive private sector. Also staying in that environment slowly makes you like one of them - cause.. why would you try harder when nobody cares and they don't want you to stand out.
ОтветитьSo many people on here justifying their soulless jobs that pay well. If you’re not remotely passionate about your career then switch. Outside hobbies and money will never fill that void. I switched in my 30s and it’s not easy, but it’s worth it.
ОтветитьDave and his buddy didn’t help at all. Painful to watch
ОтветитьThis dude dont need to leave his job, he needs a hobby on the side hes passionate about while he's investing to retire with a pension that's unheard of these days. DONT QUIT.
ОтветитьMost people hate their jobs. And they know.. that's why they pay us.
ОтветитьIt’s actually really difficult to get laid off on government. He also probably have a security clearance too
ОтветитьBro work = paycheck. If you want passion, go feed the homeless
ОтветитьYou more than likely never will be and that's okay.
ОтветитьBe very careful to move to another job especially in this current economy situation.
I have a friend who moved to a bigger company for a better pay however he lost his job within 5 months because he doesn’t achieve the big target from the new company.
He is struggling to get a new job for that high pay and reality hit him hard
Hope he bet on himself and left that job
ОтветитьI don’t love my job and I’m not passionate about it. I still find ways to enjoy it but lately I’ve been so burnt out at work. No matter how hard you work, you just get more work while all the lazy people get coddled and rewarded with weekends off and vacations. I’m just expected to work overtime no pay.
ОтветитьGrow up. Let your hobbies be your passion. A lot of people are broke because they followed their passion.
ОтветитьBeing passionate can sometimes lead to addiction due to that rush of dopamine. If you really want motivation, think about other people and help them the best way you can do. People that don’t like their job and find yourself complaining about them not being passionate, again think about helping others and not what people don’t want to do because that’s their problem.
ОтветитьI’m in nursing and this is exactly the way I feel. The passion for nursing in the environment I’m in doesn’t really exist. And on top of that, the harder I work the more work I’m given. And everyone else just falls back and sits on their hands and collects a paycheck.
ОтветитьNot being able to see the impact of your work is what kills you.
Ответитьlol before ChatGPT and AI dropped. I hope he took the risk
ОтветитьSounds like the guy likes the work just not the current position. Just find another place and leave. It’d be a much different thing if you just realized you hate your actual field of work.
ОтветитьSecurity is an illusion
ОтветитьI just left the state government. Left for private industry. 60k to 105k just by switching roles. My new team is motivated, driven, and lovely. Government is a great place to get nothing done and still get paid
ОтветитьMust’ve gotten lucky. I enjoy what I do, passions are for hobbies! That way they never get boring.
ОтветитьBuddy doesn’t know he's about to be laid off by AI
ОтветитьMy mindset has become: Yes, the world's messed up, but what's Chapter 2? I feel for this guy, but we need to simply treat some jobs as a means to an end.
ОтветитьI’m not passionate about my job but I am competent and do enjoy it. The answer is to have hobbies you are passionate about, a family you are passionate about. You could even get a side hustle you are passionate about.
ОтветитьWhenbit comes to statisticians, u kinda have to turnover the problems you work on every two years otherwise you get bored af
