If I was family oriented, I would opt for a break up, mainly, to prolong respect to my parents as well as drama-free family time. The 5th out of the 10 commandments reads: "Honor your father and mother". Fighting for the wrong relationship only to eventually see your parents to disapprove violates such commandment.

Honestly... id be upset if i were the parents too, but for different reasons:

1. Never told me youre gay until at a public place about to meet the significant other.... so no time to process (even for people who are accepting of homosexuality, it would take a little bit of processing from a parent).

I’m lucky that my family has always been accepting of our significant others male, female, white, black, etc. All of which started with my grandparents interracial marriage and my uncle coming out when he was a teen. They paved the way for our happiness and I couldn’t be more grateful.
