Would you use them for hanging cabinets and microwave?
ОтветитьThanks for the tips!
ОтветитьI do not like the metal version of those anchors either. I do however always pre-drill the hole. I do not want to take a chance on the drywall breaking on the back side and having a weaker connection. I always look for the type for the sharp threaded edge. Some of the ones that come with curtain rod hangers for example have a more rounded edge which I find does not work as well. The Wall Driller brand are quite good. It's also important to remember let the weight rating is for downward force, not outward force.
ОтветитьThank you!!! Now I can move on with my project 😜😜👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
ОтветитьEasy to install, cheap, but pretty low load bearing.
Ответитьextremely helpful. thank you!
ОтветитьOver time, I've found the metal anchors aren't that useful. If I need to mount something heavy, and I know where the stud is, I'll just screw into the stud. If I'm not sure what's behind the wall, e.g. a stud or a pipe, I'd rather have the plastic ones, that way if I make a mistake the worst case is I break an anchor.
ОтветитьNo, no! These are the god awfulest things I've ever used. If you are 200% certain that you will never have to take it back apart in the next 500 years, maybe you could consider them. If you try to back the screw out, you are very likely to unscrew the anchor with it because the anchor has threads. Those threads make it very easy to install but they make it reverse too easily. Once out, it leaves a gaping hole in the drywall. If you are renting, this is the absolute last thing you should consider. I bought a pack of fifty of these and I am going to throw the rest of them out.
ОтветитьI disagree in that I think the brand you buy matters. Cobra Wall Grippers are more brittle than paper thin porcelain. Read public comments posted to their CGI how-to video. Horrible, aggravating junk product. I'm shocked they're still allowing comments.
ОтветитьDoesn't use drywall anchors often...shows two photos of conical masonry anchors. But here's some advice, drop the EZ anchor and go with Hollow Wall anchors and use the setting gun. Minimal penetration area with amazing holding power. Also, the screws in EZ Anchors are irrelevant as long as they are #8, the expansion is the key.
ОтветитьAlthough I do use the plastic self-drilling anchors, I have, on several occasions, had the plastic crack while I was driving it in, resulting in the head of the anchor coming off. At this point, you have a repair job, instead of a mounting job. I am thinking if applying wax or soap to the threads would help the anchor slide into the drywall. Anyone out there have thoughts?
ОтветитьI like using those but in my experience they've never actuality been self drilling. They're supposed to be. But when i try to drive them in without predrilling they just crumble. I've tried with a drill, driver, and a screwdriver. I always have to predrill. Then they work great.
ОтветитьYou don't have to use the supplies screws with the EZ-Ancor type wall anchors. As long as it's the same diameter screw, you're fine.
ОтветитьI literally tried one of these and it ended up just going through the wall when I tried putting the screw in
ОтветитьHow can you recommend such worthless trash? The ones I had wouldn't even drill into the wall because it was too wobbly so I had to make a gigantic pilot hole. Then the main screw part stripped and I couldn't even drill it into the wall at all.
ОтветитьI installed the plastic ones on drywall and they splintered my drywall every time. Awful.
ОтветитьThanks for that I jave some of these in my tool box for years they are strong
ОтветитьGood info...Thanks!
ОтветитьThank you. New wrinkle
ОтветитьOne of my roomates back in the day bought a plasma tv and mounted it on a dry wall, it was a 75, we went out and by the time we came home home bothe the wall and tv was on the floor and insurance refused 2 cover the repairs
ОтветитьYour right
ОтветитьI hang pictures, mirrors and shelving as a "side business" of my Blind installation company. I use these anchors almost exclusively and I love them. I appreciate your video and I agree with everything you said. The only tip, if you could call it that, is . . . when you are drilling into a wall to hang a mirror, you don't always need an anchor, if you hit a stud. So, once I have my drywall marked for hanging, I run a 2" screw into the hole first. If I hit a stud, I'm done. If I don't, I back the screw out and put in an EZ Anchor right into the hole I just drilled with the screw. This is easy and fast, and I don't waste an anchor if I don't need one. :)
ОтветитьNice video, direct and to the point with good theory. I really enjoyed. I am your newest subscriber haha
ОтветитьGreat video, have used many different kind of drywall anchors over the years, which I've found to work but require more work, right drill bit and screw size. Will definitely give these a try. Thanks
ОтветитьDefinitely not the best drywall anchors.
Ответитьso how do i use it without putting holes through my wall? It went all the way through 😢
ОтветитьDo you reckon hanging a guitar from a couple of these is ok?
ОтветитьI picked these up a few years ago when I needed to hang some heavier hardware at a business. After using them, I went home and threw away every other misc. drywall anchor that had made its way into my toolboxes over the years! They don't always work great as I get some that self-destruct before they get through the drywall (I appreciate the tip to give them a smack before starting; that should save some anchors in the future since I always use an impact driver), but they're still such a huge improvement that it's no contest. It's also a nice bonus that the Toggler brand Snapskru is made in the USA.
ОтветитьTotally agree. Great choice for lightweight items like towel racks.
ОтветитьQuestion please help ! I’m using a self drilling ez toggle on my houses drywall. I’m using the screw that came with it, but the screw spins and doesn’t do anything. It also can be pushed in nearly all the way(the screw). All the answers say pilot hole is too big or not using screws that came with it and I can’t find a single solution
ОтветитьThis style is junk. Every IKEA floating shelf I have hung using these have sagged and /or fallen out of the wall.
ОтветитьYa'll should watch the Project Farm video, where he does a shootout between various anchors by measuring how many pounds it takes before they fail, both downward and also pulling them straight out. Some of the models I thought would pull out with the least force ended up being pretty surprising. A few passed 100lbs in the downward test.
ОтветитьI don’t like them. Overdrive a quarter turn and you strip out the gypsum. They leave a much bigger hole than regular anchors.
For a regular anchor, a quick hole with a hex shank twist drill, tap in a regular anchor with the back end of the drill, and a swap in a hex shank Phillips and your cheap, small opening anchor is done.
Maybe hand driving the self drilling anchors will change my mind.
No, No, No!! Toggler Snaptoggles are THE BEST solution. They hold like 300 lbs and whatever you hang from them is attached rock solid.
ОтветитьWhat about Molly anchors? removable screws.
ОтветитьThanks! Hope it works! Anchors for my shelf did not work
ОтветитьOkay so looking for recommendations since I live in a townhome with no studs and literally 2 inch drywall. So there's no void anywhere. Are there any fairly decent anchors I can use?
ОтветитьCute, nice hair and great info!
ОтветитьI still drill a pilot for them, even though nobody else seems to. My theory is it smashes less material around the threads.
ОтветитьAn issue im having with the plastic anchors is that they’ll go in just fine but then as i start working the provided screw inside the plastic screw itll get to a certain point and then both just free spin. Any advice?
ОтветитьVery helpful. I live in an old house and know nothing about construction and everyday small handy work. The walls home aren't made of gyps but plaster on 1 1/2 in. wood planks. Anything I drill will make that plaster crumble. These anchors is less damageable. Thanks again
ОтветитьThese have failed me. Pulls out and leaves 1 inch holes. There's a reason they use them when building homes. Cheap and fast to use.
ОтветитьGreat video and tips. Thanks
ОтветитьI could really use your help…..I’m installing 2 bungee cords vertically on a wall via 4 eyebolts for a bulk paper towels holder, but I can’t figure out the best anchor to use for the job and I’m trying to keep it as low profile as possible. The eyebolts are Everbilt 3/16”-24x3” eyebolts with nuts. Any help would be greatly appreciated and thanks for doing all these videos to help us novices out 😊
ОтветитьI wasn't getting anywhere with the self drilling. I just drilled a hole a little smaller than the end of the anchor. Went in no problem then. I'm using 2 of them to hold up a set of 5 coat hangers so there's going to be some weight on them for sure. I have a 3XL wool pea coat that itself is pretty heavy. That plus 4 more coats? We'll see!
ОтветитьHe blames the anchors, I blame the fake wall 😂cheers from Europe🤙🏻
ОтветитьI need help. I got these self drilling plastic anchors. They can’t penetrate our drywall, the tip deforms right after the paint surface, leaving a little crater. I also tried the 3m claw hangers and had to use a hammer to pound them in. They making drywall different now? Brand new house.
ОтветитьSome of these I bought recently do not have split end, and you have to limit the length of the screw. A longer one will not go all the way in.
ОтветитьThank you for the tip on using the screw that comes with the anchor. Prior to your advice I had planned to use a different screw.
