Find or Replace Text and Numbers in Excel (surprising features)

Dear Leila, first, thanks a lot for your productive and helpful training videos. I have a quick question. Is there any formula in excel that we can reorder the text? For example, if in one column we have aa/bb, in another one we need bb/aa.

Hi. Any idea, may goal is to replace / remove all words with * in a cell. For example E*Trade, i want it to be as ETrade. Try it, in ctrl + H, it will just be blank.

One more use is to remove any unwanted signs before numbers like $. Replace it with space and its gone..

I use a lot find and replace.. Never thought to use for formatting purposes! That was cool!
I was waiting to see some formula replacements like copying a formula from an other workbook and then delete some references... (I hope this makes sense)

I've been searching desperately how to find and replace and certain dollar amount. I put the amount in the FIND field, and it tells me it's not found. It in the workbook at least 50 times. Surely there's a way to search for a number in an accounting software?

Hello Leila. Here's a question you didn't cover. When I do a search for an item, and I get the box with top top row labeled: BOOK SHEET NAME CELL VALUE FORMULA...is there a way to change those headings so I can see other values of a whatever cell I want?

Hi Leila. After "find all", to select all, I believe it ought to be Ctrl + Shift + down arrow key (not just Ctrl + down arrow key). When I did Ctrl + Shift + down arrow key, I was able to select all results and then format them as you told us how. Excellent video. Thank you very much and Cheers!

Hi Leila. Is it possible to to highlight a found cell while just using the Find→Find Next button. Often times it is difficult to see the "found" cell in a sheet.

Great videos. No need to memorize the RGB code in the end though. Click "Format" after selecting a format from a cell and you can edit the selected format.

how to replace a single word within excel cell ?

Awesome tutorial! It's so sad that some of these beautiful options are not available to mac users, though. "Find all" and "Format..." are simply not available in Excel for mac :(

Leila, you missed an opportunity to describe how to search for special codes or characters such as hard returns, foreign language characters, ligatures, etc. Maybe another video should be made.

In my excel, there are 1.30L rows & 40 cols filed with common formulas from other Excel files & I want to do find & replace some text in a formula in the active sheet in a fast way. Now I have a big problem with the replace option.

I have a long column of Thursdays that is all written in different format.
Thur, Thu, th, THUr etc..

Some days are Tuesdays so that is fine I need to keep the Tuesdays but make all the Thursdays written the same.
