Modern single action pistols typically have an inertia block for this exact reason, which as these old pistol models didn't. I have ruger 22lr that you could use as a hammer lol. ITS NOT GOING OFF😅
ОтветитьSo question: In the wake of the Alec Baldwin controversy, a lot of videos went up showcasing what it actually takes to make a single action revolver fire. Brandon Herrera had a great one using a Pietta. After exerting a lot of force, he couldn't get the firing pin to hit the primer with enough force to ignite the primer when the hammer was down. But again, this was a modern made Pietta. So was this issue specific to the Colt SAA? Or was this an issue that has been fixed by the passage of time and advancements in gun manufacturing?
ОтветитьI'm in my late sixties now and own some old six-shooters. I totally forgot that rule. I'm so glad you did this video. I am totally serious.
ОтветитьCan't believe that 5 year ago me actually thought that you shot yourself in the foot
ОтветитьKeep it in a tungsten box
ОтветитьOnly time I’ve ever loaded 6 is at the range. I carry 5 in my revolver daily and a spare conversion cylinder for mine with another 6 rounds in it in a pouch on my belt or my shirt pocket, so I have 11 rounds of colt 45. I figure if I can’t get the job done with that, I shouldn’t have tried to do the job in the first place 😂 especially in a self defense situation
ОтветитьLucky there
ОтветитьThe first click is what Colt intended people to use when the SAA is loaded with six. All the way down is likely how you had that in your holster, which leaves it prone to firing if the hammer spur is contacted.
ОтветитьHmm good to know, i am thinking about getting colt 45 anytime soon
ОтветитьThere is always a safety position between each fire position.Especially on Remington. No need to keep an empty chamber or empty primer place.
Colt has had always problem with real efficient innovations and security.
Just a thought: shouldn't you be wearing a pair of Luccheses while discussing the Colt SAA?
ОтветитьHow to carry a SAA: DON'T
ОтветитьThose new balance are expensive
ОтветитьExcellent.
ОтветитьThis man made my heart stop like 3 times
ОтветитьThe new SAAs have a transfer bar that prevents the involuntary discharge.
ОтветитьHow to defeat Ocelot before the fight starts
ОтветитьI have to admit when i watched this 5 years ago i did infact think he shot his foot, even after he said it hit his shoe but not his foot
ОтветитьFake !
ОтветитьI am going to disagree with you. My Dad would let the hammer down in between two cartridges and that was very safe.
ОтветитьI mean i been carrying a single action colt 45 with 6 in for years and never came even remotely close to shooting myself. I think alot of it is just not being an idiot and maintenaning situational and firearm awareness and safety
ОтветитьBums me out I couldn't take mine to crapifornia
Ответитьon my 1858 pietta black powder there is a little square cutout between each chamber that you can rest the hammer into so its not sat on a primer, i still only load 5.
ОтветитьYour supposed to roll up a bank note for mergencies. And put in the empty cylinder!
ОтветитьIt is just common sense... :) I was 10 years old when I figured out on my own that logic dictates that it is not safe to have a live round under the hammer. This is actually the first time I have ever heard of anyone else saying it is not safe to have a live round under the hammer....
ОтветитьNever carry ANY firearm with a round in the chamber unless it has the appropriate safety devices.
Do NOT assume that a standard trigger safety is sufficient.
Cringe as hell
ОтветитьRuger Vaquero (with modern hammer style) seems safe
ОтветитьHad someone pretty much get all pissy when I said I carry 6 rounds in my revolver, he said "If you hit the hammer too hard the ground will go off"
My Revolver is a Ruger GP100, the hammer has a divet in it where the firing in is, so it never makes contact with the firing pin, it only interacts with the strike plate which is only up when the hammer is cocked and trigger is depressed.
"Not gonna lie, they had us in the first half"
-A wise man
that's good to know !!!!
ОтветитьTHIS how you teach gun safety. Good setup and example.
Ответить😙🎶 lalala lala... POW
ОтветитьI know punk what your asking? Did he fire 5 or 6 ! With all the confusion, I don't know rightfully myself! The question you have to ask is do you feel lucky? Well, punk, do you feel lucky? Well, do you?
ОтветитьI was 19 years old when I learned this lesson. The round missed my shoe but scared the crap out of me. I sold that pistol and didn’t own a handgun until recently.
ОтветитьI think he hit the hammer or somethin idk
ОтветитьUnless you are Tex Grebner.
ОтветитьYup, learned this about 40 years ago...
Ответитьsenile old man takes forever to get to the point. retire already
ОтветитьCould you also theoretically put a thick piece of metal in the toe plug as an extra bit of safety
ОтветитьIf the hammer is at the first click notch, the pin does not touch the primer and the gun is safe unless you go beating on it or intentionally throw it down on the hammer. That is what the notch is for, to make it safe with 6 rounds. Only carrying 5 when you can safely carry 6 is a stupid idea unless you are a completely accident prone, in which case you may want to reconsider firearm ownership altogether.
Ответитьppl walking around like it's still the 1800's smdh
ОтветитьReally nice holster and belt 👍
ОтветитьDidn't they used to say something like" "If 5 shots isn't enough to get you out of the trouble you're in, you're in too much trouble"
ОтветитьThis guy has no idea about what he's talking. Not whatsoever about anything in any of his videos he just wants to be seen
ОтветитьPlease people do not Cowboy fan these types of guns they cango off out of rotation and explode
ОтветитьAll single actions can actually go off out of cylinder rotation meaning the bullet is not aligned with the barrel and hits the side and explodes the cylinder be careful cock completely
ОтветитьMy buddy just half cocked my Vaquero the bullet out of rotation hit the forcing cone side and exploded like a grenade lucky to be alive and not hurt
ОтветитьThe gun single action can go off when the bullet is not centered into the barrel and explode the gun freakishly powerful
Ответить
