I wouldn;t deride english timber framing so easily. in the day, the woods wer eowned by the aristocracy. when you have a limited amount of wood you use it as sparingly as possible. Timber joinery is FAR FAR easier with squared timbers...there are ALWYS really good reasons for the way things were built..so let's latk about why that is because these methods will come back to Amserica as the American economy is about to be de-powered. Axes and saws and chisels will suddenly be useful again

Building houses out of logs by cutting trees with axes won't save the world, unless we take world population back to 1840 and decide that we won't have electricity, vehicles, or really any meaningful division of labor. You can't run modern America on trees and axes, primarily because there won't be enough trees to do it.

"Grab the chalk line."
"Now what?"
"Place your line"
"And now?"
"Measure your line to make sure you placed it right."
"Whys that grandpa? You measured it, it looks right."
"You always measure twice. Cause most times, you're only gonna get to cut once."
Lookin back, wood can teach you a lot about life.
