Thank you for the idea. You don't need to edit though, you could simply choose "All files" and simply select a mp4 file without resorting to trickery!

Thanks. Still works in July 2022! You can just delete the accept="..." property entirely to save time. I tried a 500MB 2 hour mp4 and this worked fine. You don't need to upload the file to Google - instead it just stores it in the local IndexedDB storage built into the web browser. Other meeting participants are not forced to download the whole file either - I think your browser combines the video/image and your webcam and just streams the composited image to Google who relay it to the rest. In other words, if you upload 500MB mp4, it won't cause a problem for other people on the call. However the bit rate is very low, so avoid videos with a lot of change (see Tom Scott's confetti video).
