I’ve been collecting physical music now for about 4 years now. Started with vinyl. Then CDs and now even cassette tapes.
My record players is a Sony one. My cd player is a cheap one I got off Amazon. My cassette player is a refurbished Walkman ex-631 I found off eBay.
Physical media till the day I die
Don't buy this. Bluetooth connectivity really sucks. I sent mines back.
ОтветитьBreakout the Velcro. I still have a Sony round player with opamp anolog out and it sounds great for what it is. But nothing replaces a audiophile cd players. Real transports.
ОтветитьJust checked it out on Amazon and the manufacturer recommends for the best sound to use the HEADPHONE JACK !
ОтветитьWeird. Looks like a smoke detector. And 80 dollars?? No way. I got a used high-end Sony portable CD player for less than half of that. Even has digital out.
ОтветитьCan this CD player play gapless playback?
ОтветитьReview the moon drop portable cd player
ОтветитьGreat video there’s something about paying just 8 to 12 bucks for a brand new CD. I also like knowing I own it and it can’t be edited or deleted.
I have Apple Music, Spotify and You Tube music. If I just dropped one of those services and bought one brand new CD a month I’d have a growing collection . 🤔
Can it be used as a transport? Desk/tabletop CD player could be useful.
ОтветитьAhh great, was looking for a new smoke alarm 🙃
ОтветитьI good dac chip is probably less than $20 as the SMSL SU-1 is $70.
ОтветитьI like C D s they are good to have, albums, take too much room, where CDs , you can put them in a nice space.
ОтветитьThank you this review. I’m getting sick of Apple Music mucking up my soundtrack collection when rights change so I’ve grabbed this to use the CDs. There is a 15% off code on Amazon U.K. at the moment too.
ОтветитьHow shock resistant is it? I need a player for my automobile.
ОтветитьThis is a cheap plastic toy!😅
ОтветитьI still buy cds
ОтветитьPortable cd player no! It's too big & you need a bag full of cd's with you, when a smaller digital mp3 or flac player can do the job better & easier with more choice. The place for cd players are for quality players in the home like I also do, where my large now cheaper (£2 each) cd collection is stored. Cd Portable is not going to take off its too impractical today especially when like me you have 200 high res flac albums on your mobile phone that you can stream in your cars or any Bluetooth speakers that nearly everyone possesses. My vinyl buying has died off due to excessive prices.
ОтветитьYou press the middle spindle to remove discs.
ОтветитьBig question does it place mp three files
ОтветитьBought the Copper/Black one. Actually the sound is way better than my small Sony/Technics personal CD player collection. Like you I'm a bit shocked at the quality of sound.
ОтветитьLooks like a UFO,
which makes it pretty cool .
Thank you :^)
I love CD
What were they thinking when designing this? Haha! Too funny. It looks like a scale for kitchen use.
ОтветитьNice detailed review. It looks like a smoke detector.
ОтветитьThank you for this review! I went ahead and bought one on your recommendation (Amazon had marked it for 18 quid in the states for some reason) and it has been such a joy to use an easy, elegant CD player to listen to music. I've found myself going into the thrift shop poking around for CDs that look intriguing and have such a large sonic world opened up to me. Thanks again!
ОтветитьI would rather pick a late 90s Sony discman over these new players. But good to see that some companies are releasing decent new discmans these days
ОтветитьThank you so much for this detailed review. I just bought the Aiwa PCD-810 which is available brand new on Amazon, but I was tempted by some of the lesser known brands that are a similar price. It seems that major brands have mostly given up on portable CD players in the same way that have with cassette players. I have a 1992 Technics XP6 which is looking and working like new, but when the Aiwa turns up I'll be interested to her how it compares to the XP6. If it's less than impressive I will probably try the Trettitre.
ОтветитьThank you so much for covering this. Being my specific age (43) I went through thr time period of losing, giving away, and even throwing away CDs when MP3 and especially Lossless formats came out. Fortunately while crate digging for vinyl records I started noticing many CD crates started popping up in thrift stores for between .99 and $2.99 a piece. I started grabbing them up again and now have a collection that my 18 year old self would have lost his mind over. All for ridiculously low capital invested. I've been looking for things to use as a transport considering I use a very good DAC (Bifrost) and anything called a transport costs ridiculous amounts of money. I've settled on the better players from the early 2000's that have an optical or coax out. I've compared actual transports owned by friends to my thrift store counterparts and honestly we've had a hell of a time hearing enough of a difference to justify the expensive transports. I've found my solution but am always curious and on the lookout for other solutions. I don't think this is a solution for me but thank you so much for putting out CD content.
ОтветитьHas anyone tried using a headphone DAC (ie Earman Sparrow or other)?
ОтветитьMy CD's will never leave the house. Poor outside handling and storing has led to this myth of CD having a very limited life span. CD rot is caused by poor handling, extreme high and low temperatures, stored in direct sunlight, dirt and grease contaminating the protective lacquer... and so on. If compact discs were handled the same way as records then the life span of CD's will be just that - a life span.
ОтветитьI just wish it wasn't so ugly
ОтветитьBought one of these CD players and it arrived today. Very very impressed with the sound quality for the £64 I paid on first listen. It won’t be part of either of my systems, and will instead be used in my home office paired to some Grado head cans. Had I not read your review I’d likely not pulled the trigger on this, so cheers for the review and pointers. I’m well pleased 😃
ОтветитьCD remains so superior to the likes of MP3 that it is worth having a player - including a portable!
ОтветитьIf I want to use this at work (our PCs no longer have a disc player in them) to play my CDs through a small Class D amp and some old Polk Audio speakers, using a Ø3.5mm to stereo RCA cable, what volume should I set the T-CP8? 75% maybe or all the way to 100%? Thanks!
ОтветитьHi Paul, Trettitre is 33 in Norwegian, so if there is a connection to Norway with the company maybe that explains the name.
ОтветитьShenzhen Trittitre Audio company seems to make some really great audio equipment. At least design wise! Have you had a look at het TrePower 1 + 2 amplifiers. One tube amp and the other class AB in a wonderful design. Does this T-CP8 CD player has a digital out? Can't find that nowhere.
ОтветитьFor a second there, i was fooled into thinking you were holding up the inner platter of an 1980s Scottish turntable.
ОтветитьAnd…CDs are so cheap!
ОтветитьWill this play MP3 CD-Rs ?
ОтветитьVery nicely timed video; a big vinyl fan here but guess what? I still and will continue to buy CDs on a regular basis as I always have done because they have their place in my music life which vinyl often just does not fill. I feel at the moment that there is an awful lot of music out there only being released on CD, especially CD Box Sets where I could mention the gorgeous new Jane Birkin box or perhaps Robert Palmer The Island Years. And then there are companies like Cherry Red and others who are releasing super clam shell boxes with 3-4 CDs worth of great music plus inner sleeves and a booklet and only in this format. I just purchased all of the Joe Gibbs Dub albums in one box. Currently, to listen to a CD I have to switch on three hi-fi components so I believe I can see a place for the Trettitre on my desktop connected via BT to my standalone speaker. I just ordered a triple LP set for 87,00€ so this new piece of kit won't break the bank. Greetings from Berlin.
ОтветитьNo Optical or Coax out is a deal killer for me for any actual Hifi....
ОтветитьThis looks interesting. I only regret that there is no optical out on this device, to give the choice of using it as a transport linked to an external dac.
ОтветитьI haven't slept all day-night,& I hope i didn't miss it,but does this cd portable have a 3.5 holes,ports? Hook a 3.5 to the cd & to mY amp?
Ответитьto
ОтветитьGutted that my local branch of Rough Trade (and I imagine all branches) have now cleared out completely there CD stock. Thankfully HMV haven’t taken that step yet, we are on borrowed time. This looks to be a reasonable portable unit at a decent price.
ОтветитьI still buy loads of cd's, especially 1st press versions. I won’t ever do streaming so cd's and vinyl for me.
ОтветитьBugga I didn't know about the Icelandic Prog, I feel so stupider 🤣
ОтветитьCd remains my primary source which I enjoy immensely . I recently upgraded my cd player from a meridian 808v6 to a dCS Rossini player apex .
ОтветитьI still have a Sony portable walkman cd player. I've seen this cd player reviewed already. Might get it sometime. Still looking for a new portable cassette player have acouple Sony's I need to replace. Excellent review.
ОтветитьRecords was a dying market , look at it now 😁 cds will come back .
