Lol i was searching for someone to explain to me the VIX, how the VIX is calculated based on underlying contraacts and what contract time frames are used and why.
But i guess this is channel for amateurs.

Why is the VIX still low when put options volumes has spiked? I can't figure out why

So why did in last 3 weeks SPX500 lost 320 points, and VIX not only didn't move upwards, it moved down 7-8%? Nobody is buying options to protect against marked going down?

Does the inverse also cause the VIX to rise? I.e. tons of people are buying bullish options because they think the market is going to rocket?

Today, both Nasdaq and s&p went up roughly 1% but the VIX also went up by 5%. Isn't that directly opposite to the fear indicator you explained?

I'm assuming more people would buy stocks and the stock prices will go up, if I'm right.? So what would be a good low fix to start buying? By looking at the charts I'm thinking 18 to 20. Correct me if I'm wrong. Or if a person really can't tell. Thanks

until you realize that the institutions have both sides and are using one to get good entries on the second one and selling into the panic on the other lol

scared to say, but i think it is actually based on its fear market. Its a market backed by the fear of Vix itself. Basically just based solely on its liquidity..
