Steve Hi, you ref the Taper Pulley which provides a greta solution, would you be able tp provide the link where you purchased this also for the Motor used please
ОтветитьThe AT1 is for 220V or dual voltage 3ph motors, I made the mistake of getting this model, but I had to return it. I believe I need the AT4 model for connection to 380V motors, in the black casing, as my motor is 415V
ОтветитьReally great video and review, thank you
ОтветитьThank you Lindsay - I’m keeping the original .5hp, and will look to use the .75kw inverter (1hp).
I am new to the ML7, and find your videos absolutely spot on for a novice like me!
Converting old 3 phase machines to run on Inverters from a single phase supply has become popular, but the VFD needs to be correctly set up to protect the motor, and the Delta connected motor will draw more line current, so the motor cable may need to be uprated. Also, old motors may have degraded insulation and fail when supplied by VFD.
And finally and most importantly, make sure the motor has a good Earth connection to the supply.
I’m having an Err 1 code when I start run. My motor is set to high voltage would that be the reason? Does it need to be set to low voltage?
ОтветитьHi Steve – great video, I was just wondering if you think this would be a good set up to use with the original Crompton Parkinson half horsepower three phase motor that came with my Myford ML7? It states: volts star 380/440. Volts mesh 220/254.
ОтветитьWhat happens if you have a neutral in the 3 phase motor thanks
ОтветитьGreat video Mike, I’ve just bought one for my lathe. Was looking at purchasing a Newton Tesla control pendant. Do you know if this inverter supports whats referred too as '3-wire' control - or self-latch - to work with the momentary start/ stop pushbuttons?
ОтветитьGreat video, thank you very much. I just bought a ML7 and I'm also considering to change the motor and add a VFD. But I have one question, now that you can change the speed using the VFD, so you still use the belt and Pulleys to change the speed?
ОтветитьTaperlock is a great system, I've used it for a good few years and it comes with a huge variety of fittings. It's not the cheapest system but it is the best.
ОтветитьMr. Jordan, nice video I'm trying to locate a motor it shows (no longer made) I'm from the US I'm assuming any 3-ph 1hp 4-pole motor 1740 rpm should work I have a drill-mill which is what I want to convert. I'm somewhat concerned if I will keep enough torque depending on the pulley? They show the VFD inverter on eBay at $118.00 dollars. Also, I like the dial gauge set-up for the quick change.
ОтветитьHi Steve, I have looked for this motor and can not find it. Can you post a link here.
My search contained Motor TEC, 1-Hp, 3-Ph, IP55
Hi Steve - would the same motor work on an ML7-R? I know next to nothing about electronics but have located the parts you've used and think I can follow your excellent guide, but wonder if that motor will work for our lathe - and if so, would I need to select the 2 pole version of the motor, as it has a faster top speed? Thanks, Chris
Ответитьhello steve just watched you video..... you have just got what i need namely a 3 phase motor 1 hp and the converter to suit... can you help me ? i need the address. of the supplier,, and the rough price ... please ! regards laurence
Ответитьwaooo, l really love this lesson.
Tnks soo mch Boss
Thanks for that I brought same vfd
ОтветитьHi Steve. I own the same VFD like you. I have a bench lathe with a three phase motor, 1.1Kw and 1400 rpm. I would like to install a brake resistor, because I need the lathe stopping very quickliy and I don't want to damage the motor. Do you know if this VFD can install a brake resistor? If so, do you know the proper value and where and how wiring the brake resistor? Thanks in advance and best regards.
ОтветитьGreat video, can the pulley system be used without a key way?
ОтветитьI lost 😞 how do you power the inverter? I looking to power a 18hp 220v 1500rpm motor can you give me any advice???
Ответитьhi Steve, thanks for your videos. What happened to the old motor? It looked and sounded like the motor on my ML7 which was made by Hoover in Scotland. Did it give up?
ОтветитьDo you have delta links on the motor?
ОтветитьSir can inverter setting only suply power v380 wihout anather funtion..
ОтветитьHi Steve, do you think there's a problem if i leave the orientation as star? I say that because the motor i'm going to power is out of reach and it would be problematic for me to change its orientation.
ОтветитьIf a motor that works only on 380 volts is connected to a suitable inverter (220 volts input, 380 output)...
will the motor run at its full efficiency without decreasing torque or speed? Thanks!
Hi Steve, I have just purchased a Meddings 3 phase pillar drill and was wondering what make of vfd would you advise me to buy now you have had the experience with them? I also would like to get my very first lathe, and was wondering which make / model you would advise me to buy. Thanks Jez
ОтветитьFantastic thanks 🙏
ОтветитьReally nice set up Steve! Just a quick questions, looking to do a similar set up on my ML7. What size taper pully would you recommend for this motor (1hp ~1500rpm)?
ОтветитьHi Steve! Have You tried to lower the voltage output from the VFD? I have this universal brushless 195V washing machine motor, I want to use on a circulation pump on my plating tank setup. I'm just wondering if the voltage regulating works as stated in the VFD AT1-4000X manual.
Thanks for sharing this video - great value! 😄
Where could I find the chart with all the parameters for the VFD?
ОтветитьHey Steve, I've got this same VFD/inverter, but I've got a problem...
I've got Err-01 coming up in the screen since I tested it on another motor I intend to use it with, but it should be within spec.
I've checked the manual and it says what error it is, just not what the fix for it is...
And since you're the only person I've seen using the same inverter.... Hope you know what to do.
I'm kind of afraid I've busted 70 EU by doing something wrong.
In case anyone else has questions:
I've reset all the parameters
switched on/of numerous times
It's wired in delta-config (star before, but I corrected that one)
Motor and inverter should be within spec, 2,2 KW inverter for a 0,75 motor (for as far as I know that should be fine)
anyone?
Hello Steve, How has the VFD held up for you? I am looking to change my reeves drive over to VFD. TYVM for the video.
ОтветитьVery useful thanks. I'm thinking of buying exactly the same TEC motor and VFD combination. Cheers
Ответитьwe produce the aluminum housing motors single phase or three phase
if you need, then we can supply .
Thats a great video. 👍
I was wondering what the lowest usable speed is, where it still makes decent torque at the motor?
That would be good for using a thread tap on a milling machine etc where you need about 1 rev per second.
hi Steve , im after a extension cable/ribbon for the control panel for this inverter wondered if you know where from? keep up the good work 👍
ОтветитьI have the same chinese inverter, can I wire a kick estop into the inverter ?
ОтветитьHi Steve great videos, what cable did you use 4 core or 5 core?
ОтветитьCan I use the 1.5KW inverter to control a 0.37KW motor?
ОтветитьHow is the low speed torque like ?
ОтветитьHey Steven if the desired continuous speed setting is 1000rpm and the moter is at a max at 1000 rpm do you recommend a moter with more rpm to be more stable? Thanks jason
ОтветитьIs there any way of getting hold of these instructions? I have lost mine
ОтветитьSteve, the Tapered Sleeve Pulley is new to me. I love it!
Thanks for the vid and the info!
Wakodahatchee Chris
My vfd which looks exactly the same doesn't have anything in the instructions referring to p025. The default seems to be set at 0 and when I change it I don't notice any difference? What's up with that?
Ответитьcan you get dual pulleys for the super 7?
how do you measure a pulley?
Hello Steve, I really enjoy watching all your videos, very informative and so enjoyable, this article got me interested in VFD's, I have a 240Volt single phase ac induction motor on my lathe it is 1/2 HP 1480 RPM and I would love to control the speed with a potentiometer, but I don't know which VFD Controller to buy, could you point me in the right direction please as I am really confused as to which one I should get, there are so many of them. Thanks for your advice, cheers from magicbytes. :)
ОтветитьNice video!! Small question. Does the motor lose power at lower speeds??
ОтветитьHi Steve
Once again many thanks for the video.
Was going to buy one ready made.
But the well known company kept lying to me.
They were supposed to In stock clearly weren't and kept lying to fob me off giving them time to get one made three weeks later.
See your videos and have ordered exactly the same set up you have.
At a fraction of the price of the one I was trying to buy.
Stay safe keep them excellent videos coming
An excellent video, thank you. Very clear and thorough.
