Nice review. We own a 2023 CR-V hybrid, touring trim level and are very happy with the vehicle. While we don't have young children anymore, we did try installing a child car seat and it fits perfectly with the connections provided in the backseat. Gas mileage has declined in the winter months (cold) but had been running just shy of 40 mpg during the warmer months. Thanks for all of your insights.

Can you point out how tinny the doors sound on Toyota when you close the doors or glass the hood actually shakes when you're driving on to toyotas.

I just got one as a rental car because my 2023 Volvo is already in the shop. I was so impressed how comfortable and quiet it was. I don't like the black wheels and I wish there was another option. The car feels so much softer and comfortable than the RAV 4.

Awesome review-thank you! I just purchased a 2024 Honda CR-V EX, and so many things you mentioned about the exacting fit, finish, and functionality in the Honda Hybrid apply as well to my new vehicle. I upgraded from a 2018 Honda CR-V, and it seemed like Honda has continued to upgrade safety features in its CR-V models...

The CRV Hydrid is definitely on our list. I do wish the top model, given the price point, would have power folding mirrors, and ventilated front seats.

Always love your videos. Great content. My only negative on the CRV is that when the rear seats are folded down they are higher than the rear floor making for an uneven load “floor”.

We picked up a rav4 hybrid xle premium in 2022 and although i love it a part of me would prefer to take the crv hybrid over it. For one, i have two kids and getting the kids in and out is a pain bc the doors dont open to a 90 degree angle. 2nd is the wind noise at highway speed. 3rd paint job sucks. My older rav4 paint job is done better. 4th hood moves at high speed. 5th issues with window trapping rains in the door...

I have a 2016 crv EXL touring, i bought used with 30K miles. I now have 71k mikes, have not had any issues with it. Just basic maintenance. Have to wonder if that would be the same with hybrid and because the hybrid is expensive, i am thinking that in order to get the most of the car due to current pricing, i would have to be driving a high amount of miles in order to justify added cost if buying a hybrid.

Here is my issue, Honda has a very good resale value. Most people drive the car at least 10 years or more. However, hybrid adds another peril in the maintenance of the car. I would think replacing battery is going to be expensive and not many people are willing to do it unless you go to dealer which will leave u broke.

I can talk about Australian Market where CRV Hybrid is just released.
Toyota RAV4 Hybrid includes these feature below which Honda missed on:
1) Toyota: Space Saver Tyre || Honda: Tyre repair Kit
2) Toyota: Heated and Ventilated seats (front) and Heated outboard seats back. || Honda: Only Heated front seats
3) Toyota: Good Dealer Network and Reputation || Honda: OK
4) Toyota: Port and Direct Injection 2.5 Litre Engine || Honda: Direct Injection (carbon build up)
5) Toyota: 10 Years warranty on Battery Pack || Honda: 8 years
6) Toyota: 360 view camera (although poor quality) || Honda: Missing 360 view camera
7) Toyota: Digital Rear View Mirror || Honda: Auto Dimming
8) Toyota: All Wheel Drive || Honda : Only Front Wheel Drive

Nope. 2023 RAV4 Hybrid will outlast 2023 CR-V,

because the CR-V is Direct Injected only, without the extra port injector that the RAV4 has.

The CR-V's resale value will be very bad, just like the resale value of all Honda 1.5T Direct Injection vehicles:

Nobody's going to want to touch them.

I don't understand why Honda didn't learn from other (mostly European) car manufacturers' mistake regarding Direct Injection.

A good review, a bit of an ''ad like feel' to it though. As you admit, several times, the RAV 4 is as good or perhaps better than the Honda. So other than body panel tolerances and paint thickness and a 'unique hybrid system, though not necessarily better, I do not see how this Honda is better than the RAV 4. And the price- yikes- several thousands more than RAV 4.

Honda's hybrid system definitely has the advantage of the rear being mechanically connected to the engine and not driven solely by a rear motor. What frustrates me about Honda and Toyota with their CRV & Rav4 is the ever growing footprint. I had a smaller and nimbler 2003 CRV and loved it but that would be considered a subcompact these days. Heck, even the "subcompact" HRV is bigger - with less cargo space - than my old CRV!

This new CRV self charging hybrid looks absolutely great. I really like the so called honeycomb feature as it looks really great on this vehicle. The tyres on this CRV look reasonable as they have enough rubber that should give a comfortable ride. It just has a great shape.

Great review and assessment of the CR-V. If the point of any hybrid system is to achieve superior fuel economy, then based on stated and various car test results, the Toyota parallel system is the more fuel-efficient, economical system. I think that fact was somewhat brushed aside with all the Honda love in the comments. It's clear that many people that have had experience with both the RAV4 and this new CR-V prefer the overall experience in the Honda, but the RAV4 does have better (or even the best in the segment) fuel economy. Just saying.

Similar to David, I’m an Industrial and Process Engineer. As such, there’s several oversights that so wish David would address, such as lack of fog lights, no spare tire, inadequate side mirrors, and other problems mentioned here. I feel this review was almost more emotional than technical and mostly based on the brand, the fit of the panels, paint and how the hybrid system works.
