One of my absolute guilty pleasure movies.

The film is an absolute romp and Kidman and McGregor are just adorable/entrancing.

I appreciate Satine's realistic and ic pov, and very good points. Christian has a point that a life without love is often a painful one, but so does she; it's hard to live long enough to find (or appreciate) love if you die of starvation first.

I have to say that when it comes to this sort of romance, Titanic does a much better job. He finds her attractive and gives some mumbo jumbo speech about the concept of love. She says no, but he refuses to accept her answer. When she then leaves him, he goes in to make her feel guilty about it.

Titanic? He talks her out of killing herself and the two of them slowly start to build a connection. He then lets her make her own choice to leave him and she comes back to him.

It was epic when my partner quoted that line "just one night" and I joked back, "there's no way cuz you can't pay" as we couldn't afford a room at the time and where in a public homeless shelter. It cheered us to talk in song and movie lines. That's what movies are about. Shearing them and using them in life to bring joy. Even in difficult times.

Being IN love, ON THE STREETS is terrible! That's an element my partner and I discovered when we met in a homeless shelter, even now in seperate temporary accommodation it has its added complexities and struggles on a relationship. (deep heavenly sigh) but it IS better than a life without love. Of that I have much experience. ♥

I believed this at one time in my life

This scene was brilliantly done. Extremely clever writing using lyrics as sung prose. Really unique set and they use it very well. Nicole Kidman is just freaking gorgeous and plays the character with all the flirts so very well. McGregor manages to look so innocent lol. Movie has aged quite well.
