I wound up giving my Game Gear away many years ago because I honestly didn't think much of it. Looking back at the few games I had for it, I still don't. I knew the TV tuner existed but the price was well out of my range and it may as well have been made of unobtanium in the US. Batteries were stupid expensive back then and the requirements of 6 AA batteries for a few hours of play meant I was rarely experienced it without a wall-wart. Supposedly, Sega could have released a more power efficient upgrade but chose not to for some reason.
ОтветитьThe Sega Game Gear really takes me back to my youth. On weekday nights I would plug my ac adapter into my wall outlet in my bedroom and play either Sonic Chaos or Sonic Triple Trouble from start to finish. Helped me fall asleep faster due to insomnia. Good times.
ОтветитьI owned a Gameboy back in the day. My first game played on Game Gear was Lucky Dime Caper. I was so excited seeing color screen!! Thank God today I have the full European set of the games and I love it❤❤
ОтветитьNo. The upgrade hurts the originality.
ОтветитьIts basically a handheld master system the one before Genesis.
ОтветитьSURELY someone found a way to add a power supply mod to play the Game Gear, which recharges the batteries WHILE it’s playing/plugged in. And with a Modded bigger screen, that thing would be awesome even to this day!
Ответитьthanks bro great vid had a game gear myself but i was too young to know what to ask my parents for
ОтветитьI'm not sure how I missed this one.
ОтветитьIts got a color screen, thats all there is good to say about it. Like seriously, imagine having a Game Gear while your friends are playing Pokemon Red Version, Revenge of the Gator, Yoshis Cookie, or Final Fantasy Legend.
ОтветитьI was a nintendo fan growing up but i actually got a game gear before i bought a gameboy the color screen was too temting for me to pass up, i ended up loving them both also only thing i hated about the game gear was the horrible battery life my dad refused to be constantly having to buy batteries for it so i had to get a car power adapter and home power adaptor, that was only downside of the system for me.
ОтветитьGame Gear? Nba jam
ОтветитьI imagine being in school and getting detention because you told the teacher you had Woody Pop in your pocket.
ОтветитьI still to this day see comments where people claim that aside from being in color, Game Gear games looked "worse than Game Boy games.
Which is just nuts. But nostalgia will make people say and do crazy things.
I am not much of a Baseball fan when it comes to video games, only a couple Baseball games have grabbed my attention enough for me to really play. Baseball Stars 2, Super 2020 Baseball, The Bigs, and Clutch Hitter.
ОтветитьShinobi = the gggoat
ОтветитьLet’s be honest, Fantasy Zone is Stinger/TwinBee
ОтветитьI just spent wayyyy too much money on getting my original GG upgraded with new capacitors and McWill screen. What a difference. I’m back to playing it all the time like 30 years ago 😂
Ответить"Running chores" huh? ok.
Macy Gray I try
ALEXA! Macy Gray I try
My first handheld at the age of 4-5 years old was a game gear. It was 1998. Amazing piece of equipment but I remember very specifically my mom hating it because of how much she spent on batteries for the thing. It was amazing for road trips though. Driving from Illinois to Mississippi and back every summer. Green Day’s Nimrod in CD player, eating Moon Pies…. God.
ОтветитьMy parents never bought me a genesis but I was able to get a Gamegear and a few games for making honor role all year and I loved that thing so much.
ОтветитьPSYCHIC WORLD IS A CLASSIC 💔
the damage system isnt that bad, most the time you can jump out of the way of the enemies and take less damage
and the game already takes up a lot of data i imagine, out of every game i own none make the gamegear hotter than psychic world 😂 so the levels are already at the max amount they can be i assume, it's already a compressed version of the msx original missing a few of the levels and merging a couple together
when i first picked up the cartridge, i had no idea what i was getting into, the art of the cartridge made it look like it was gonna be so shit hahaha
turns out it was an epic game that i ended up playing over and over and over... i nearly missed out on playing it because of that cartridge's art 🤣
Most of us played space harrier on the Sega master first. I didn’t know there was an arcade version until after the 32X failed and I played that version and heard that it was an arcade perfect port. It’s easy to appreciate the Sega master version when you’re not comparing it to arcade machines you’ve never seen.
ОтветитьSega needs to relaunch. This was a great system for the time.
ОтветитьI remember my gamegear and then my Nomad just black hole-ing entire packs of batteries at the mall.
ОтветитьCool 😇
ОтветитьI wasn't allowed consoles growing up until my parents started testing the waters with a used game gear in 1996 - late in the system's life but it changed my life
ОтветитьMy hats off to anybody who has the patience to endure playing 8bit Golf games for reviews. Or maybe you like pain.
ОтветитьI really liked the Game Gear. I even had the Master Gear converter. Didn’t mind the battery life. Just wish the screen wasn’t terrible.
ОтветитьI got the Game Gear in 1992 and loved it. Battery life was never much of an issue for me since I had both the recharagble battery pack, ac adapter and car adapter. The place i played it most was while laying in my bed. I loved it because of how much "cooler" it was than a gameboy. Years later I got the Nomad and my game gear adapters all worked with it so again no real battey issue. Infact i never used a single AA battery for the Nomad,
ОтветитьThere was a "Master Gear Converter"? I heard about the SEGA Aztec, which played Genesis games portably, but not of a converter for the Game Gear! Dang!
ОтветитьNevermind that you need 6 AA batteries -- a Game Gear with the TV adapter let you watch television away from home!!!
ОтветитьDo a Sega Game Gear best of the best
ОтветитьI was a Genesis kid but my little brother loved his Game Gear. I thought the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers game was pretty good. That was probably the only game I ever played on it.
ОтветитьOn Indiana Jones : "I refuse to give it any more..."
*throws himself into the river*
I thought the game gear looked awesome back when I learned of it. I had two SEGA VHS tapes that showcased many Genesis/CD and Game Gear titles and it made me wish I owned one to show off to my friends who had Game Boy's. But like so many other things at the time. It was nothing more than a dream.
ОтветитьThis handheld was very memorable for me. The first and only handheld I've ever had, my father saved up an entire month of his paycheck to buy it, and I would get 1 game on every birthday (or on occasion find one at a thrift store for $5-10)
But man, 6 AA batteries to power it for only around 3 hours (less if the volume is too high) it goes through regular batteries too quickly and rechargeable were quite expensive back then. Also, the AC adapter didn't have a built-in voltage transformer like most adapters do today, so when I brought it with me to visit relatives in China I plugged into the 220V outlet, and it promptly fried the adaptor. Even after getting a replacement (still fairly rare and expensive by China's standard at the time) I still had no way of playing it, until my grandfather found this antique transformer they had lying around the house. The transformer was bulky, had to lug it around everywhere, but at least it allowed the handheld to run without issues
The games I had were Sonic 2/Chaos/Triple trouble, Ninja Gaiden, Super Columns, Chakan, and the only RPG I got, Shining Force: The Sword of Hajya
I remember seeing the game gear as a kid.
Unfortunately I never owned one.
It wasn't until Christmas,when I got a mega drive.
The master system had nothing on the big black powerhouse.
Truly transport's me back to my childhood.
I do enjoy today's games, but they haven't got the same soul.
As a kid your imagination would fill in the blank's as u became transfixed.
So much of my art is because of Sega.
I been watching you for a while now. The videos that just show lots of different games are the best. I hope you can do all the systems with a top 50 also like this style of program.
Ответитьyou had rectal exam-med? :)
Ответить👍👍👍👍
ОтветитьI took my gg on a field trip once in school. taught some hyper vigilant Christian kid how to rip heads off as sub zero in mk, lol... you could tell by the look of joy on his face that they didnt teach that in sunday school.
Ответить..Is it just me, or does the music for paperboy on the GameGear sound similar to Spider-Man and The X-Men for the GameBoy ?
ОтветитьI bought the Game Gear even after owning an Atari Lynx. My findings was that the Game Gear to be more simplistic games compared to the Lynx scaling and rotation. My Lynx just had more power and the amount of things going on screen was far more than I ever seen on my Game Gear but I played and enjoyed it just the same and both ate batteries like they were candy. Both are great handhelds especially since getting both modded with McWill screens, makes all the games way more playable and fresh too
ОтветитьGood old days....thanks for this
Ответитьsonic was the one made me want GG
ОтветитьDragon Crystal is a rogue-like, you're not supposed to be able to save in those. Not sure how well balanced this one was though and the GG might actually die before you beat it if playing on the go hehe.
Anyway, loved the GG and the early US lineup is actually pretty solid. We also had the 4-in-1 cart, which had a solid tennis game on it.
How does John Scamcock have more subscribers than sega lord X ? SMH 🤦♂️
