Xbox can not play 24/fs and correct this every minute or so with a frame drop. The PS5 can play 24f/s .... I think HDR is way to yellow, Blu-ray is more natural.
ОтветитьAre we there yet?
ОтветитьThis hasn’t aged well and is why he is ignoring the topic
ОтветитьDude Linus Has A Wii!
ОтветитьSicario and Revenant 4k blu ray actually look realy great. Bottleneck for Linus in 2017 was xbox and early lg oled. New high end TV's are lot better than that lg g6
ОтветитьThis NEEDS to be revisited.
ОтветитьYou should have turned sharpness to 0 since yours is turned to 15 and Aspect Ratio to "Just Scan". Also the Expert picture mode is even better for the best original image.
It's also hard to judge the video since it's not even uploaded in 4KHDR.
Also 4K Blu-ray quality is not intended for "average people" who watch the movies on their midrange TV. But it really benefits if you're passionate about movies and have a good home theatre where there will be a clear difference with the higher bitrate quality and more immersive sound (the difference between 4K and 2K resolution is btw minimal, it really comes down to the bitrate exept if you have an reall extremely large projection screen). It's an expensive hobby just like sports cars or luxury watches.
But the best medium for ultimate immersiveness is still stereoscopic 3D, unfortunately it doesn't support HDR and HFR for consumers as of now and is still in very low 24FPS which is why you unfortunately have to use motion interpolation for some movies like Avatar because they're just unwatchable in 24FPS realistically speaking
This did not age well 😂 4k is amazing
ОтветитьI think the players and discs are still too expensive. Even an entry-level 4KBD player you're looking at $150. Most of the discs are anywhere from $20-30 if you buy new. HDR makes more of a difference than 4K resolution does. And I've run into quite a few quality control issues with "Made In Mexico" discs. Blu-ray is cheaper most times and if it is from a halfway decent master can look fine. I've even had some DVDs that still look great on my 4K TV.
ОтветитьIs it worth it now? I been wanting to invest in a 4k blue ray player but idk if i wanna pay $200 if i won't notice much of a difference from blu ray
ОтветитьYou don't need a "redonkuluous speaker set up in a dedicated theater room" to enjoy Atmos. A pair of height speakers will work. 4 is better. You don't need 13 speakers. If you already have 5 ch surround, then adding height is not that big of a deal.
ОтветитьI'm honestly amazed you didn't notice much of a difference with Amazing Spider-Man 2. Ik this was years ago, but I did a comparison between the UHD and BD on my not-even-that-good 65' Vizio 4K TV and even THERE the color and clarity difference was incredibly obvious with the UHD giving far superior results
ОтветитьThis was just the topic I'd been asking about. Thanks for all that good info!
ОтветитьHey guys if you like grayish and uncolored movies, and also enjoy washed colors in movies..... Then go ahead and watch HDR Movies.
ОтветитьYou know that I actually and without any joeks prefer the SDR more than the stupid HDR. HDR is kinda like when companies came out back in 2007 saying that the new 720 HD videos and movies are better and are truely HD. While a DVD movie with 480i or 480p had way more higher but rate than the announced 720p. Problem is companies shouldn't have said that it was a true HD quality, since the bit rate was extremely low. Maybe in scenes where there wasn't too much particles on screen the 720p was nor "clear". But in 99% of the time it looked like ass. And if you asked these companies back in the day for why are they not telling the truth, well they replied by saying; that most costumers wont be able to notice the low bit rate and would still prefer the 720p.
And the same thing could be said of nowadays generation of media consumers......... They go by a brands name scheme. So if I say the word Ultra, then their brain automatically thinks about a premium thing. Unfortunately this is why companies still get away with selling consumers with burned in after 2 month oled panels, drifted joysticks, and now these stupid HDR and "High Res Audio" marks and logos that fool about anyone nowadays to buy them. I mean honestly would I blame a child for thinking that HDR is supposed to be better than SDR?
For anyone who's watching this today, it's good to know that Ultra HD Blu-ray is a similar, but different standard to Blu-ray. It does not use BDXL (128GB) discs. In fact, it uses 50, 66, or 100GB discs which have the pits much closer together than a standard Blu-ray. While it's kind of like a new video standard, it's the same laser as Blu-ray, and many Blu-ray drives can read UHD Blu-ray discs, but it's hit-or-miss even with the same brand depending on the manufacturing date; and sometimes you needs special firmware to make it happen. It's easier to think of UHD Blu-rays as a completely separate standard than thinking of them as part of the Blu-ray spec.
ОтветитьWould be interested to see this video get an update now that we are in 2023 and OLED’s are also more affordable (still expensive but not like even 3-4 years ago)
Ответитьultra 4k discs are trash!!!!!!!!!!
Ответитьultra 4k discs are sucks!!!!
Ответить6 years ago 4k was definitely not worth it. Now as movies are filmed at 6k or 8k that is a totally different story. Almost all the movies from back then have a 2k DI which is not great and difference was very small, that's for sure
ОтветитьSo I’m watching this on a non hdr tv, but can see the massive difference in the video you’re showing doesn’t that just prove that it’s the grading of the new release and not the fact it’s hdr. If it’s graded perfectly on both copies I’m assuming the difference in hdr is minimal
ОтветитьI can tell you have never owned a Sony TV if you think LG is the Best. lol Good video
ОтветитьMuggles buy 4k. It will be obsolete by 2024 studios are heading towards keeping their own titles for streaming only. The cost for a remastered 4k is easily 5000 pounds before adding storage and transportation cost. I can tell you that ebay u.k was averaging just 200 uhd sales a day and over the Xmas period only 240 a day add amazon sales to that and online independent retailers and its still probably only 600 movies sold a day , then devide that by approx 1000 4k titles available and that the batman and top gun maverick was probably 10 percent of all sales and its a pretty catastrophic collapse in the market. The only thing that is keeping it alive is that fat lazy people who don't want to work a real job can sit at home and sell movies as a so called job. I know a fat lazy slob that does it and have makes less than minimum wage. Originally he was making 40k a year or more in and around 2012 , the only loss he hasn't had is weight loss. He has so much redundant stock he couldnt even get 20 pence on some titles when he took them to a carboot sale. He has nachos with no dip and his wife works overtime. I like his style but what happened to the man of the house, he's more like a party crasher. 🥳
ОтветитьCan you make a new video about intel dropping support for BR4K discs? and dropping SGX. If 4K discs will not be supported will traditional blu-rays still be supported? And can you find a way around to still make it work? for example GPU support?
ОтветитьRevisit this.
ОтветитьThe extra resolution is not a big deal to me, but HDR is.
Ответитьregular 1080p blu ray should simply have a higher bit rate, e.g 50mbps, which would be the equivalent of dvhs quality (1080i=25mbps), or higher, 64mbps which would be good dvd equivalent standard e.g 576i = 8mbps.
ОтветитьFive years on and streaming is still sub par when you compare it to a 4k UHD disc.
This needs to be revisited. I have just gotten into buying 4k discs a year ago.
On my Sony 4k HDR projector paired with the panasonic UB820, a well mastered 4k UHD disc really makes my Home Theater sing, the picture and audio quality can be absolutely mezmerizing.
ATOMOS?
Ответитьis 2022 and my 1080p TV still looks amazing at a 2m viewing distance. 4k? for VR on each eye maybe
ОтветитьAgainst all trends people are quitting streaming services to go back to bluerays, either to watch them directly or building a Plex library of ripped disks as I’m planning to do as well. I agree, this video needs a rivisit.
ОтветитьFor some reason I still prefer DVD (plain old)
ОтветитьDo this vs kaliedescape
ОтветитьI know this is an old video but i'm finding myself in a problem . I have some 50gb+ m2ts videos and films ( each have over 50gb ) I cant get to play them well. My i3 6006u laptop works with 7fps and my xbox series x vlc uwp and build in media player almost work but just for a while. Now what i ask is a minimum cpu+gpu combo that i need for this files to work great and to be hdr10 and dolby digital compatible. Thank you !
Ответитьthe upgrade from dvd to blu ray is more significant than from b.r to 4k
ОтветитьBut the sound from blu ray is way better.
ОтветитьIs it worth it? A big YES!!! 🙂
Ответитьeven a crt has better lighting and hdr with a dvd than the hdr enhanced disc
ОтветитьVhs life mofos
ОтветитьI got my Sony Bravia HDR 4K X1 43 inch tv and and it supports 120hz on gaming and VRR and also ALLM too and that something new on the PS5
ОтветитьI still think Blu ray sometimes has a more colourful image then some 4k discs I have seen lol
ОтветитьWhy Sony never included a 4K BluRay drive on the PS4 Pro is beyond me. This is their own technology, and they handed their competitor the advantage
ОтветитьMy dad had bought a 4k movie player because our rental store had 4k movies and we haven’t used it since the rental store shut down.
ОтветитьNow that you have built your home theatre, please revisit this video. I am sure there are still benefits for having physical media.
ОтветитьGive us a 2022 retake!
ОтветитьAny chance for a revisit on this topic? I feel like there's a solid argument for 4k's now that the format has matured a bit.
Ответить*4K UHD Blu-ray* - is it worth it?
Ответить
