Glad to see that the people who make Mac's Fan Control ported it to Windows, When I used Windows 10 on my 2011 as the only OS in 2017, it was getting horridly hot and my fix was (If I recall) a Python script that talked to the SMC to set my Fan Values

can plop boot manager be run on a usb, without burning it to a cd?

Interesting tips here, I might try a random MacBook Pro I have lying around as a "test bench" for Windows 11 before I start using it on daily machines etc.
This video is very useful to anyone doing this.
Also, you may note, I always use Macs Fan Control on Macbooks as well, to keep the temperatures under control. I set to start increasing at 40'C and max fan speed at 70'C, to keep the CPU at a decent temperature. Though I didn't know about the icon for monitoring temperatures!
Also, like your clock/CPU/RAM usage widgets etc, reminds me of the days of Windows 7 having desktop gadgets baked in (and yes I do use desktop gadgets in Windows 10 via a 3rd party website).

However, many on Amazon are recent USB 3.0 drives that I doubt would work. Do you know the exact model of your external optical drive, so that I can buy the same model to make sure that it will work? I followed your video and it was quite handy. The only thing I did notice is that around 9.09 into your video, you show increasing and decreasing brightness, back light and volume. I noticed on screen visualization of the level as well. On my Mac, I don't see visual bar on screen but the keys are working. Is there a work around it

I have macbook pro 5.1. 9400m and 9600m gt available on os x. but windows 11 only sees 9600m gt. This causes high temperature. How can I introduce 9400m to Windows 11?

How did you manage to get the plop boot manager working? I tried booting using burned cd and it stucks on “Plop Boot manager Install program” and all keys are frozen, I can’t proceed with the options it provide for installation

Hey just wanted to say thanks so very much this worked brilliantly!!! I happy to say that my early macbook pro 2011 now works so very well. I tried Monterey on it using the latest Opencore Legacy Patcher but the graphic's failed to patch and very slow to operate, even with 8GB or ram and an SSD. Windows 11 works and now I have a daily driving laptop that cost me $50 you can't beat that, thanks so very much for your video it's a great help cheers.

So how do you overcome the GTP - MBR issue for dual booting? If I try to install WIN using your method using a GPT disk, I get an error message saying WIN can't install on a GPT disk (even with "Legacy Mode" -yes, my WIN install was all blurry and I carried out all the steps you pointed out so I'm certain I was in "Legacy Mode"); if I format the drive as MBR I can install WIN perfectly but then OSX doesn't want to install on a MBR , displaying an error message sayin OSX can't install on a MBR disk.

Hey, my advice is changing the sensor based value to CPU proximity. I made this mistake in both macOS and Windows and Diode can change suddenly even if you launch a superlight program. CPU proximity is more stable than diode.

I have followed your guide. I have Win11 running (thanks :D), however that registry entry for brightness control does not work for me (Macbook Pro mid 2009 with 9600 nVidia). Looks like there is no bluetooth drivers as well.

I tried whole weekend to get my MacBook Pro 5,4 to install windows. Booting the CD works, but when I want to install the installer refuses because of a GPT formatted disk. I tried to install home-brew and gptsync, but when I enter " gptsync /dev/disk0" I get an error "command not found: gptsync". How to proceed? Any help appreciated

I'm using the internal DVD player with Plop. It loads up correctly but when I try to boot from the pendrive it gives me a boot error message. Any clues? Btw, I'm on a Macbook pro 2011.

I am trying to download Windows 10 to Macbook Pro mid-2010 with same method but after the boot to DVD/CD menu and selecting “USB” from list, there is just black screen with fast blinking text cursor on top left screen. Nothing happens. What can i do?
By the way, i reformatted and made it bootable win10 usb again from Rufus before this steps.
Or, is this just for Windows 11 installation?

Does this model have the 9600 gt as well or just 9400m also i think i have the exact same mac someone just gave it to me would like to run windows 11 only on it seems like it's on os x at the moment how wouls i go about doing this also how do i get it to turn off secure boot i hold command r like the videos say seems like nothing happens do i need to update to newer mac os for more robust options to be available?

Sadly i couldn't make this work even if i tried more than one time. Followed the guide step by step; tried some other things; nothing worked for my 9400M gpu...the 2016 version of drivers could not be installed, a bootloop appeared every time because of the GPU driver issue and my max cpu frequency was always stuck to 70% in every parameter in Power Options. Same thing in win10. I'm thinking of trying to install windows 7 and upgrade it to 10; then 11. Maybe this will work for my mid 2009 13" MBP

Really helpful, something to add is using inspectre to disable the meltdown mitigations to restore processor performance.

Optical drive wasnt accepting any cd so i took it out and put the poplboot cd into it manually, it worked to boot into usb win11 ghost spectre version 2024 mbr
screen light dimming was working correctly after driver install didnt neet the registry
fans were stuck at 100% all the time fixed with program
trackpad click isnt working but i think that was already an issue

there's a way to do this without DVD? I removed my DVD reader from the iMac Late 2009.

Loved the video and everything went smoothly besides one thing. When I attempt to install the graphics drivers my system reboots and the drivers never get installed. Would anyone happen to know a fix?

No go for me. Installed Win11 fine. The OS updates and restarts ok. Then, before I can even disable updates in services, the system has already other updates waiting to be installed on next restart/shutdown (win11 will give only those options, update and restart or update and shutdown). Upon choosing the first, it won't restart into win11 but ALWAYS in recovery UI. Can only restore to the point of the win installation where you have to choose language, keyboard and so on... and the same experience will repeat all over again once you've restored win11. A endless and useless nightmare. So I guess I'll just give up since it looks impossible at this time (maybe some new updates released by MS now are causing this issue.

Is there any other way to mount the Plop boot manager then on a cd ? I just dont have a working cd burner in any of my systems anymore, be it pc or mac. Can it be mounted on a second USB for example as legacy installer --- watched a little further, seems you unplugging the plop boot usb so it wont confuse on boot .. that could be a problem with 2 usb sticks then

Hello! So i have a problem,I made the cd burner with the iso it worked booting in plop,i made the win 11 installer with MBR in rufus but after i select the usb in plop, im just stuck at the windows 11 logo and i tried all the usb ports,and i dont know what to do please help!!Thank you so much !

Unfortunately didn’t work for me, didn’t partition my drive in macOS and cleared it in the windows installer, used disk part to convert it to gpt and now it’s telling me I can’t install to it because it may not support booting from the disk and to ensure the disks controller is enabled in the bios menu
