Scheming Symmetry is great in one format: Two-Head Giant! Because it says player, you can tutor for both yourself and your partner! It’s also not bad in Commander as a politics card.

Scheming symmetry is great in commander; use it to strike a deal with another player 😄

But then you backstab them by somehow milling the card they tutored for that they placed on top of their library 😂

Scheming Symmetry is fun in Gonti when you can just steal whatever your opponent tutors, or in combo-y decks like Yawgmoth where you can just tutor a combo piece and draw it to combo off before your other target ever has a chance to draw theirs.

Scheming Symmetry is pretty boss, as most of the comments section is probably letting you know. in formats like two-headed giant it goes form "Bad" to pretty incredible as both you and your partner tutor? it also is an incredible piece in both commander decks as well as Conspiracy style cubes wherein you can also use Scheming symmetry to set someone up.

Did the Shetlands finally get their apology? It may be general enough to count.

My commander group sometimes does 5-player Secret Partner games, and I've been considering building a deck specifically for that and I've realized through this video that my copy of Scheming Symmetry is perfect for this deck idea

I've always wanted to combo Scheming Symmetry with Nicol Bolas God Pharaoh, to immediately steal whatever they tutored. Unfortunately it relies on your opponent being a complete fucking moron.

As somebody who is trying to learn German this video was a fun test

Joking aside: You honestly did a good job with all of the pronounciations.

The obvious answer for Scheming Symmetry is always commander. You and someone else gets a vamp tutor. Best political move of the century. "Hey person who is clearly behind, do you have something in your deck that would deal with the boardstate? Yes? Great, go grab it and spend your next turn dealing with my problems while I search out my wincon."
The card is a treat.

Scheming Symmetry is a Commander all-star. It's also really good if you're also in blue and can draw what you tutor to win in the same turn

Scheming Symmetry is pretty good in commander. It's obviously not as good as vampiric tutor, but for budget players, it's a reasonably powerful card and gets the table politics started early on if you need it to.

I don't think you're missing anything re: Scheming Symmetry; it is a bad card, but a lot of people think it's fun in commander.

With Scheming Symmetry the symmetrical effect can be broken in a number of ways in commander. It's not terribly powerful or popular but it's only been printed once, so it's going to be somewhat expensive.

Scheming Symmetry = discard or mill deck no? Opponent grabs best card and puts it ontop.. Then you mill that card.. Or when they draw it you discard that card. Outside of those decks probably not good. Two headed giant maybe?

Hey Graham! Love the show. Could you please read more flavor text on the show? I don't always have the time to read what's on screen before the edit cuts away and I really like flavor text.

My playgroup is multilingual and we love dunking on the German translations by making up our own, like:
"Joachim, Bildhauer des Geistes", "Zauberspruch der gegenwirkt" and "Niklas Bohler, Pharaon der Götter".

Also, this Murder perfectly illustrates why German cards have... issues to differentiate between "target" and "of your choice". The German language can make that disticntion, but apparently, the Wizards translators cannot.

I’m convinced they made Scheming Symmetry specifically so they could test bugs in MtGA more easily.

Scheming Symmetry offers a very powerful effect for cheap and has many ways to play around the downside.
If you combo off that turn whats on top of their deck doesn't matter, same if you can shuffle their deck, if you can mill them or play their cards they might actively shoot themselves in the foot by searching for a good card, if you play stuff like opposition agent you can outright tutor 2 cards you want with one being from their deck... The possibilities are endless. Its the kind of tutor that actually has some flavour to it and isn't just a second copy of the best cards in your deck.

Scheming Symmetry is mainly a Two-Headed Giant or Group Hug EDH Deck kind of thing. In draft it was just....not great. The art is so amazing though.

I can't say I've ever seen someone play it , but I assume that Scheming Symmetry is going to be useful in a mill deck.
