How to use Inkscape and a CNC machine to engrave an image

I think the title indicates maybe text. There's a million on engraving from a jpg or svg, but none I've gotten to work just entering text in inkscape. Thanks for the time.

Do you know how to do single line engraving in inkscape? instead of the outline engraving?

From select - PREFERENCES tab, What should be written for - DIRECTORY. i copied your text as C:/Gcode - it didn"t register. Im stuck here for now.

Well I tried doing EXACTLY what was shown (except I don't know what value to have used for the cutoff threshold as the original resolution was too low to read! - I'm using a 2560x1440 screen!) and NOTHING happens after I do the bitmap trace and set the cutoff threshold! There is NO second image (i.e. the bitmap!). WTH! Just wasted over 90 minutes on this. Also tutorial videos with background music instead of commentary are AWFUL.
