I moved in with my future wife a week after a met her kept my apartment, she got pregnant lol , got rid of the apartment had our son then we got married a few months later so I’m fairly close to Candace stayed married till she passed 26 years later

My husband’s and I’s story is very unusual too. We met online in a chat room, I was 18 and he was 19 at the time. After 4 months of talking online & on the phone non stop, we admitted that we were in love with each other and wanted to get married. He flew from Canada to Florida, so we could meet in person. 3 days later I flew to Ontario Canada to be with him. We got married at city hall a month later. Our parents were pissed! They said we were too young, it was too fast, we came from different countries & that it would never work. Well here we are, almost 5 years of marriage. Marrying him was the best decision I’ve ever made.

(My husband was much more liberal when we first got married, but now he’s a die hard republican. I guess I converted him haha)

Happy to hear that, my parents got engaged 4 weeks after they met married 3 months later happily married for the past 24 years. We are 4 brothers and we have one sister. I am married as well for the past 3 years since I was 20 and if there is one thing I know is that marriage is a compromise and is respect, there is no such thing as “this is who I am and if you don’t accept me you don’t love me” If you love your partner you will accept when you are wrong and become better people together. I think the way a bride-to-be can stop feeling pressure while planning the wedding is to only invite family/people who actually care about you. The moment you start worrying about what people are gonna think or you planning a wedding to please other people or so that they can have a good experience is the problem. Its not their day its YOUR day and YOUR husband to be...PERIOD!!!

I like Candace's approach. In my case, don't waste time IMO. One can become too picky. After six months of dating, I popped the question and then six months later, we were married. Fast forward 14 years later: 2 kids, 2 dogs and a mortgage and I wouldn't have it any other way 😇🥰❤

We decided to get married within our 2nd date and wanted to elope, but then decided to plan a small wedding to include family (especially grandparents) and between arranging the wedding plans and giving our guests a decent heads up it took about 7 months. We've had 15 wonderful years together and hope for many more.

I would say my husband and I did it the opposite. We got engaged about 3 years after being together and got married at the 8th year of being together. We will have been together 12 years this year. We have been married 3 and a half years. I wanted to get married after I had finished my education. We now have our first child on the way.

My parents were much like you maybe not as quickly as the 2 weeks but Dad said the instant he saw my mom he was in love with her. Even when she told him about their family disease and that she might have Huntington's Disease he wasn't phased! They ended up engaged and married pretty quickly as well! I don't understand relationships that they date for like 5 years then eventually get engaged and then 1 to 2 years later get married? Why take so long? I'm with you don't care about the little stupid things just enjoy the beauty of the day and the relationship that is going forward before God to make an eternal vow! THAT is what a wedding is about. Not who has the fanciest gown or most over priced gift! Those things are all moot.

We got married two days shy of one year after we met. We had a slightly less than 3 month engagement, and I was able to plan everything in that amount of time. Because I had worked in the bridal industry previously I had observed that girls who had one year to plan their wedding still got just distressed as the ones who'd only had a few months. That's a very interesting subject. I wondered about it too... 2 weeks sounds a tad bit fast but I think she meant to say "got married in 9 MONTHS". She said "engaged". That would be twice engaged.... but that's just a genuine mistake I assume. To get back, well I never liked the idea of for instance being together for 4 years but married for 3 months. I always wonder, what took so long? Unless there is a certain health issue or someone special in yr life can't make it, why not pick the date sooner? xx..

A long engagement usually means somebody has doubts. (By that, I mean years long.) Plus, most likely having premarital sex, unless one of them is not attracted to the other. It's not the engagement period, but the commitment effort that makes a marriage strong.

Got engaged after 3 months and married year later. Don’t see point in long engagement if you love each other. Doesn’t have to be expensive my wedding dress was £40 charity shop. Agree with Candace.

Candace's love story is the exception, most happy marriages won't start like hers so don't assume it will be. I married my high school sweetheart 7 years after we graduated. Met him in 8th grade and went our own ways after high school. As adults we reconnected and fell in love all over again and courted for a year

They should last 6 months tops, but better to get married within 2-4 months after getting engaged in my opinion.
