The 2024 BAFTAs now have onus to restore high artistic standards and credibility to the industry as well as respect to the audience’s respect of it, given the politically and intellectually incompetent and/or corrupt 2024 Oscar nomination abomination. Assuming the Academy isn’t trying to further undermine its own integrity, the institution is clearly decrepit. This year’s manifold gaffs and snubs cannot be rationalized away. BAFTA ➡️ you are de facto the last resort world stage for 2024. THE WORLD IS WATCHING, AND NEEDS TO BE ABLE TO COUNT ON YOU. Otherwise, many will invest less care, expectation, time and attention going forward.

The one that counts is the academy awards.

Lilly Gladstone was robbed of a nomination. She should have been nominated. She gave absolutely incredible performance.

Gotta say the BAFTA nominations have a lot of interesting surprises. I hope the same people who have already won SAG and Golden Globes don't repeat just because they've already won. Sometimes people who vote for these awards, by their own admission, haven't even seen the films when they vote. Ugh!

Why do you think Andrew Scott was not shortlisted for his performance in "All of Us Strangers" for the BAFTA awards?

Andrew Scott omission ??? That was a surprise. Last year it was Colin Farrell. Their films got prizes but not the performance of their leads? 🤔. I’m nervous this might happen again with Cillian Murphy. 😢 As for Leo and Bradley, over acting with cringe impersonation. And Gladstone’s persona Molly is a main character, but the actress’s onscreen performance is not as good as the leading ladies in the category. Oscars will probably go for sentiment and narrative AS USUAL. SAG might go excellence, but we’ll see. The Frances Fisher Syndrome is already at play.

Honest to god, I can't understand why Andrew Scott, Leonardo DiCaprio and especially Lily Gladstone didn't make it to the shortlist nominations…

This was as dull as dishwater!! As boring as hell!! Who are these 'presenters' who have put me into a coma??!! As boring as HELL, and they certainly DON'T inspire ANYONE to watch the show! I know Barbie doesn’t stand a chance of winning the best picture, but it should have been nominated for best picture, and Great should have been nominated for best director. I mean, as a Greta Gerwig fan, I agree it's not a great work, but still worth a Best Director nomination.

Not surprised Lilly Gladstone was not nominated. Her role required very little of her as an actress compared to the other actresses. See Emma Stone, for example.

I have mixed feelings about seeing Anatomy of a Fall and Past Lives being nominated for Best Film Not in the English language. I am a massive fan of these films, but they have a big part of their dialogue in English. In some way, they are taking spots from films like Kuolleet lehdet or Totem, which could get more exposure if they had been nominated.

Cómo mierda es posible que Martin Scorsese, Di Caprio y Lily no estén nominados?. Esto por dónde se le vea es una incongruencia, y más si la película es junto con Oppenheimer la mejor del año. Les debería de dar vergüenza como tratan a Scorsese y a sus obras. Esto es una maldita estupidez. Espero que los Oscar no le hagan la misma mierda a Scorsese, pero lamentablemente creo que sí.

I'm happy to see Bradley Cooper get the nominations he deserves. I'd love to see him win Actor, although Murphy is probably the frontrunner.

I was hoping to see Annette Bening in the running for Best Actress but there isn't a lot of buzz around Nyad (Jodie Foster didn't make it in for Supporting Actress either).

No Best director nomination for Greta Gerwig or Best actress nod for Lily Gladstone. Those snubs are quite a shock to me. This really doesn't bode well for Lily's chances at the Oscars.
