Not just the weight....pretty sure the 65% "complex carbs" we were all told to eat were the cause of my arthritis pain....since I've gone low carb they have almost gone....

I lost 8 kilos in 2 months, with not much effort . No extra cardio. Just intermittent fasting and regular gym training which i was already doing nothing changed in it

How quickly after an operation can you start fasting for days again? I had a knee replacement operation on september 18th and I ate the regular food at the hospital. But now i want to go back on the keto diet, and two-three days of complete fasting is the best way for me. But - is it safe to fast already, or will my knee need proteins to recover? @

Thank you for this, I'm going to try it. I always thought I shouldn't bother fasting unless I skipped my morning coffee(I have it with sugar free creamer I cannot drink it black) I will try having my coffee at 8am but only eating food from 2pm-8pm

what if you take meds, but you must eat a meal first? and you take them in the AM and PM? I need to have something, but don't want to break the morning fast. Is there a work around for this? Does anyone else know or have the same issue?

People who denigrate fasting are usually uninformed and may have bought into specious studies promulgating lies at worst and odious data which is misleading at best...

I like Dr. Fung. He is so smart and funny. I am a 62 year old Lady. Super healthy, no gray hair, work hard, play hard and habitually fasten every day since childhood. Never ate breakfast and when I am on go and have a lot to do I forget to eat or just don't until I have time to sit down. Food to me is fuel not entertainment. ....And I love to eat stuff I like. Thanks Dr Fung and Godspeed.

When I was growing up in 50s/60s SoCal, I never even heard of the term "snack." And I don't remember experiencing hunger or snack cravings. Snacks are a corporate invention to addict consumers into steady consumption in order to drive corporate profits. That's what capitalism does.

So eating 3 meals a day without snacking is a perfectly healthy lifestyle? That's what I've done for decades and weigh the same as I did in high school. It's the way I grew up and it's what my parents did their whole life (when they got older they did have a light bedtime snack because they ate dinner at 5) and both lived to 90 and were never overweight, even though they lived in the rural midwest where obesity is epidemic.

Starving, dieting, allowing yourself to get hungry, obsessing about food, setting up all kind of restrictions - this is all a recipe for eating disorders - something I did experience after I left home and temporarily lost that structure. I healed myself by going back home for a short time and returning to the eating patterns that my parents practiced.

Hi Dr. Fung, could you do a video about how to come off a fasting protocol without gaining all the weight back? I’m doing a 4:3 protocol and it’s working great. When I reach my goal weight can I switch to 5:2 or trf and one 24 a week?

Dr could you please do a video on the pancreas and what we could eat? I just tried keto for a month and got sick, my Dr. thinks I had a mild pancreatitis attack because of the symptoms, I'm still not able to eat anything right now. I'm so lost at what to do now because I wanted to do keto to lose weight, help reverse my insulin resistance, pcos and fatty liver. I'm very let down and lost.

Thank you for the great advice on fasting , I started yesterday and went 24 hours but I was really hungry so I ate 3 cracker biscuits and 2 cups of bone broth, now I’ll try going 30 hours and have only one healthy meal

QUESTION: For some time now, I've operated under the belief that doing fasted workouts is an effective for weight loss strategy. (I have often finished off an 18 or 20 hour fast with a 2 mi walk before having my OMAD.) I've just read that fasted workouts actually increase cortisol - not good for weight loss - and, on balance, aren't really boosting fast loss at all. What are your thoughts, Dr. Fung? Please don't tell me I've missed this key point in one of your videos🙄😒

In the 1970s the quality of food was also soooo much better. Processed foods, high fructose corn syrup, deep fried everything, and huge portions are the “norm” today. People also were more active and spent less time at a screen. Look at any crowd shot from that decade and compare it to one now; most of the time there’s an overweight person, if not multiple. But guess what!?? Big pharmacy and the healthcare industry have a new and consistent customer!! Yay!! (No, boo!!)

I started a fasting routine 6 weeks ago where during the week I eat within a 6 hour window and fast 18 hours, then on the weekend I alternate between a 24, 36, and 48 hour fast depending on what I feel I can do. After creeping up in weight for over 10 years and finding myself steadily above 200 pounds, I just couldn't do that anymore. I didn't want to go into my late 30s overweight. Adding this fasting into my life has helped me loose 20 pounds so far...I still have another 30-40 to go. Of course, I made some changes to what I eat but I wasn't drastic about it. First, I did commit to eating 2 times as eating 3 times was just too much. I cut out snacking (with a 90% success rate). Or if I want to have chips I simply eat it with my meal. I also focus more on protein (I was a huge carb eater). I build my meals around protein, then vegetables, then carbs...but usually after eating protein and vegetables, I'm too full for the carbs. I haven't cut sugar out, but I try to reduce where I can. This is what I'm going to continue with, for it's very sustainable for me. If I somehow stop losing, then I'll make some adjustments. I learned a lot from this channel and greatly appreciated Dr. Jason Fung for helping me change my future.

Dr Fung, is there something in your body that would block you from losing weight. I thought I heard you make a statement (maybe in my dreams) that can something can cause your body getting messed up in the liver to where you can t lose. I have battled my weight for years. I ve tried just about all diets to no avail...lose maybe 10 lbs. I am a woman, diabetic, 73 yrs 5'2' ..233 lbs. UGH I ve done intermittent 24 hr fasting. I ve fasted several times for 3 days, a few fasts for 4 abd 5 and Ive even done one 8 day fast. Maybe lose a few pounds but as I go back to eating sparingly the pounds lost are back within a few days. I NEED HELP i APPRECIATE ANY SUGGESTIONS. THANK YOU My husband and I love listening to you. My husband has fasted on and off and lost from 212 to 172

Clean fasting is key. Cream in the coffee, flavored zero calorie drinks spiked my hunger and made fasting hard. Switching to just black coffee and water made it easy. Fasting also feels amazing. I've never enjoyed my food more. I'm 5'5" 121 lbs after being 130 lbs for 20 years. Habits beat willpower. Thank you Dr Fung.
