Are Chromebooks Worth It In 2022?

Hi can you recommend a Chromebook apart from this one, not too expensive please.

And also important factor is maintainability. I've bought a Windows 10 laptop a year ago as an additional computer. Unfortunately, the fact that I need to update it constantly - it just makes everything worse. I wish I it just worked without that mess. Then there is Linux and while I'm an advanced user - it also makes me confused at times with the mess it could create..

And then Chromebook. Just a browser and Android apps. It's fine for the most light use cases.And good on the road as well.

I've had my Chromebook for almost 3 years and I love it! I'm now a Windows free house. Except the glass ones obviously 😂

I heard from few people at work that at first chromebooks wern't very good but they did get better over time. Then some say they are bad and not worth getting. So i always hear mix reviews about them. I been thinking trying them just see how they are.

The product itself is beautifully designed & built or my hp one is at least.

Ok the downsides.

Because it operates under its own ChromeOS system it is not that compatible with a lot of third party apps - BBC I-Player - forget it & the same goes for a lot of TV player sites.

A lot of the games you can get for it will only open in this poxy phone format as it's not worth the developers time to develope games & apps just for this one limited operating system.

Zoom won't work on it at all.

None of the keys are backlit so if I'm using it in bed at night, I have to rig my phone up so i have some wobbly illumination on the keys.

Couldn't they have just put a flashlight type light source to floodlight the keyboard?

Not compatible with MS Office....

The list goes on.

Really just a glorified phone that you can't make phone calls with!

YES!! I provided a Chromebox to my elderly mother. She is not sophisticated or knowledgeable enough to NOT click on the malicious things! With ChromeOS, I am less worried hery retirement money will be stolen. Much better than Windows, Linux, MacOS for elderly folks. 😊

Just wondering. If you don't want to store anything on the cloud can you invest in an external hard drive and save everything on to there? And then will it be able to be read by your main computer when you want to transfer everything over?

Chromebooks are expensive considering they have crappy specs.. I just bought a used Windows laptop today and when it arrives after testing it, I will install Chrome OS myself.

I just myself a chromebook as I figure that I use the android phone a lot even in my small business. All I need is Gmail, Chrome, Spreadsheet and Epson printer. However I wish spreadsheet should be better and the Epson Smart Panel App should be tailored to chrome book as the app is useless in chromebook but worked well in my Huawei phone.
I hope Huawei can come out a better solution than chromebook with their harmony OS.

I would be happy to see Chrome OS performs as a Linux Laptop and professionals can make use of that as well.

You dont have to store your files on the web with a chromebook. You can just store them on a external harddrive🤷🏻‍♂️

I got the exact Chromebook shown in this video for $299 at Walmart. It works great, my $1300 MacBook Pro broke recently (black screen of death) and I got this to replace it. I'd argue it works just as great, it has a nice display (dark, but crisp), and it runs websites super smooth. As for playing Roblox, graphics don't load fully but it does the job, it's good enough for me. Just gotta play games on lower settings. But everything else, it runs like a dream, I love the size of it and that it folds into a tablet.

I have the 2 in 1 chromebook, its secondary to my gaming pc. Most of what I need I can use it for, only 2 big features it lacks is for video editing and cloud streaming games from pc, of course can use steam but if im away and suddenly want to play a game im stuck

Do not expect to learn a computer language on them, nor do development, they are a glorified dumb terminal.

I used the same school issued chromebook all 4 years of high school, served me well and held on like a champ. Seriously, it became a point of pride for me that I had the same one since it meant I had taken good care of it. They're durable, portable, and exactly what I needed since I didnt really use it for anything other than typing notes. Looking to buy (a higher quality one) for college now.

An entire generation of tech purchasers have been hypnotized into believing they must have the fastest CPU, biggest storage space, fastest GPU...When most people need a fraction of the computing power they have sitting on their laps.

Chromebooks are definitely worth in in 2022! Why spend $1500 (Macbook) on a computer that you will only use for browsing the web, paying bills, listening to music, storing photos, and online shopping?! It's sad but a lot of people spend unnecessary money on a laptop that they will never use to it's full potential!

Very weak fragile laptop, I hit it against the night stand, not strong. Didn't drop it on the floor and the screen got all weird with lines and stuff. It sucks. Don't buy it it's cheap, but you lose your money. Fixing it costs 200 to 300 dollars, I paid $ 300 for it when I bought it.

I absolutely love chromebooks. Before my wife and daughter shouted "help me with this security update “ and messages such as"your computer might be in danger " after we bought chromebooks they are fully on their own and that gives me peace👌

If you have poor eyesight dont waste your money on a chromebook !! I bought one a while back and now am unable to use it because google removed the option to fix the scroll bar so it shows all the time ! It now hides and is impossible to find!! Despite all the complaints from people with poor eye sight google has not rectified this. Google even remove extentions that they dont agree with, I downloaded a scroll bar extention from google play and google removed it!

Chromebooks are still completely garbage. An iPad has more power

I just bought one because I have to travel every day now, and my 17" laptops are too heavy and cumbersome to drag around. I only use 1 web app. I don't need it for anything else. So far so good.
